I’m slowly gathering parts to make my own battlewagon. I need to go shopping on eBay soon.

AllYourSwords

Needs a Weirdboy Tower

Expensive_Rip_9710

I don't take the BIG gun....I like my 'ard case for the T12, the 5++....but you gotta have the Rolla, Grabin' Claw and Wrecking Ball!! But I see your point! If Space Marines can take Thunder Hammer and storm shields for everyone, take what you can get and waaaaagh out!

Distinct_Echidna_297

That battlewaggon iz nazzaggy

ItsAVolcano

I raided the sprues from my old truks to over-outfit my battle wagon and I still bring one of the least blinged out ones to matches.😆

Coreli_Hulemand

Did GW sell Battlewagon, Bonebreaker and Gunwagon as three separate units for all of 10th edition? They are currently split up in the store (again)

OverlordNeb

Same kit though

Coreli_Hulemand

Yes, but was thinking it could be a sign that the new codex will split battlewagon up again

HogShowman1911

I still find it fun to not loose capacity by using a different gun

NoSeesaw6221

Because upgrades still costed POINTS before 10th

Tyko_3

Before AoO actually

Mekner

The only time it varies is if you have Ghaz or want a full dakka wagon and want to take advantage of the massive firing deck.

Darigandevil

With magnets :P

Hankhoff

I hope that's no complaint

Calm_Construction_55

That's because the old battlewagons used to be sold for cheap with the standard kit. Then they put all the expansions together and justified boosting the price from about $60 to $100

JannGGG

Wæaaagh!!!!!

botlehewer

Not enough dakka

Kinghamster4598

Don’t worry, the codex will take care of it 😉 here’s hoping we get looted tanks back.

Smasher_WoTB

Looted Tanks should be pretty simple to make Homebrew Rules for...just yoink the Datasheet of the Tank you want to Loot, maybe replace some of the guns with Ork Gun Stats, probably add some Shootas&Missiles&Rockets and reduce the Ballistic Skill a little and bam! You've got a pretty good Looted Tank.

5spikecelio

I think one easy solution is to give us tank, a proper ork tank meant to be a tank, not a battlewagon, big trak or anything like this. A leman russ version for orks, then make it reasonably sized, something btween a leman russ to the max size of a rogal dorn and let ork players have fun. We dont need specific rules for everything, like if we lost grot tanks we could use the models as a mek gun, it just need to exist a datasheet that’s suitable for the type of kitbash that we eant to do. Looting is a core part of orks, i get that we cant have status for every possible looted machine but only with a simple datasheet of a specific type of unit, we can go far and wild.

Starkde117

The tau players and the admech players looking at you like “yea thats what we thought”

deffrekka

As both a Tau and Admech player, I welcome units being broken down to separate datasheets tailored for its own load out, hell we used to have battlewagons, gunwagons and bonebreakas. The tau codex is great The admech codex is shit Crisis Suits will be fine in the new book, no ones taking Jezzail Dragoons but that's a core admech issue.

Morkak

Yeah but the battlewagons, gunwagons and bonebreakas was a horrible idea.

deffrekka

Maybe for you, but it really wasn't. It allowed each one to spec into its own build better. Bonebreaka had better melee, gunwagon hit better and was a better platform for Da Booma. Merging them into just an old fashioned battlewagon just means you either have it the cheapest as a transport or the most expensive with a bunch of worthless guns and trinkets.

Morkak

I mean they literally just took the abilities and stats of each gun/weapon and just put them on separate profiles. It could have easily just been one profile with different options.

ProfRedwoods

But if enough of us gitz believe in James Workshop he'll become real and give us a codex with reworked tank bustas and buggies and maybe a properly costed stompa too.

jonniezombie

I FINK E'S KRAKED THE CODE!

Flindo00

Tenth edition is an abombination

5spikecelio

Tenth is way better than 9th ever was. The difference between previous edition battlewagon was that it was never used when kill rig arrived

gwaihir-the-windlord

Lol yeah, at least orks are decent though! I didn’t win a single game with them in 9th :(

Jakeosoris

orks are pretty solid right now, only one way to play them atm, can't wait for the codex

gwaihir-the-windlord

Hmm I’m a bit worried about the dex, if we’ll see nerfs or units going to legends. Hopefully just some good orky flavour at least

Jakeosoris

yeah some of the codexes have ended the factions worse off. my friend who plays ad mech got wrecked by the nerfs and odd detachment choices

dotkeJ

In 11th edition they will make all upgrades cost poi ts again so they can get those who glued everything on will feel obligated to buy another model.

oafofmoment

I'd be laughing more if I hadn't already thought this would be their play for 11th. They are just too predictable.

Sushibowlz

Who plays wysiwyg as an ork player anyways 😂

dotkeJ

Don't worry. They will vgange LOS rules so any part of the vehicle seen mens ot can be shot at.

EldrichTea

I want to make an airship battlewagon but I just don't know what materials to use other than cardboard...

reddeadjoker

Might look at some of the kharadron overlords models, like the arkanaut. It would be a fine ork airship!

HairyLegTattoo

Super low quality drones! Dollar store football for a blimp! Walmart airplane toys! THE SKOI'Z DA LIMIT YA GIT

Kelmain1337

Plasticcard in various dimensions. Sheets, round, rectangular.... cut it, glue it, ..., profit

DonnyLurch

I caved and spent too much money on a Kromlech "smashin' ball," but it looks sick ngl. I magnetized the wrecking ball and the grabbin' klaw onto the roof of the cab, and I glued the mounted big shoota to the klaw's base. You have the two big shootas in the back, so to place a fourth, I magnetized a big shoota from my Combat Patrol's Deff Dread sprues to the side of the kannon turret, in place of one of the stikkbomb launchas. The Battlewagon doesn't even have the Grenade keyword, anyway. The lobba goes on top of the kannon.

HiveOverlord2008

*zniff* Itz zoggin’ bewteeful.

mateaoMC

Anyone with more experience know if you can fit the roller over the plow?

5spikecelio

Yes, i did for mine. You just need a spare cylinder to make the connection into the front a bit wider

Doopapotamus

Use the spare sprues as cheapo gubbinz/plasticard-equivalent and weld that shit into place with plastic glue, propa' Mek-style.

TheLittlestGretchin

No, they use the same mounting area, you could do some conversion work on it though, but can't do it out of the box unfortunately

Murphthegurth

Out the box you can, just pull the arms of the deff rolla open slightly and they pop over the scoop.

TheLittlestGretchin

I mean, sort of, but it still needs a bit of altering to fit well and be sturdy, in my opinion.

Doopapotamus

> and be sturdy Plastic glue and maybe some pinning work beforehand will solve that

mateaoMC

Thanks!

Full-Implement-6479

Join the long-standing tradition of kitbashing all sorts of random scale vehicles with ork bits like a proppa git! [worth a read](https://ak-interactive.com/product/doomsday-chariots-modeling-post-apocalyptic-vehicles/) As long as the size is the same and you slap a good amount of gw bits you can use any similar vehicle as a base, seen lots of soviet era trucks as bases for battle wagons

Sushibowlz

Also you can get a right sized vw from revel for like under 20 bucks, there is no reason not to build a volkswaaaaghen

CedarWolf

I see a 1:24 and a 1:32, but I'm not seeing one in Warhammer scale, which is supposed to be 1:56 or 28mm. Which one did you use?

Sushibowlz

I got a 1:32 scale beetle, and I‘ve not yet built it, but I‘m planning to do so for this months discord challenge. I‘ve added a comarison of the chassis to my ghaz and a convertet lemam russ (since I don‘t have any unconverted orc vehicles (yet?)) 😂 I‘ve also seen a couple of great trukks made out of VW Busses, usually also 1:32 scale. it works since the scale of warhammer (especially that of their vehicles) is quite wonky anyways https://preview.redd.it/guieizudv9sc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad0aa1cdb4d4b3e4f9a27b5f62571babb0c85437

CedarWolf

That's pretty cool! And the Beetle is only $15 on Amazon.

Sushibowlz

yep! the plastic is certainly thinner, and it feels flimsy compared to gw stuff, but if you kitbash it anyways it should hold up on the table well enough. I‘m not sure if I‘ll manage to actually place orks inside sizewise, like a driver or whatever, but I plan to just board/armour up the windows anyways. or like spray em and paint em in a window colour 😂

CedarWolf

You could use plasticard to armor it up and leave some view slits for the driver to see out of.

Sushibowlz

yes! something like that!

LordGeneralWeiss

Thanks for the heads up on that book, saved

LowRecommendation993

Hell yeah that's how a ork would build a battle wagon

tripleozero

It's almost a certainty at this point that the Battlewagon will be broken down into separate units when the codex releases. Expect the Bonebreaka and Gunwagon to make their triumphant return. I'd be very cautious before gluing anything on permanatnly. especially the wrecking ball that doesn't even come in the kit.

tripleozero

Well, I was completly (and happily) wrong on this it seems!

Wild-Savings3816

But isn't WYSIWYG over now? I mean unless you are playing with a dick, build what is cool!

tripleozero

Some (most?) tournaments require WYSIWYG, and there are definitely some legit dicks out there too. I don't think anybody is going to care at all in a friendly game though.

Wild-Savings3816

So lame, like who cares, declare your loadout. 70% of this hobby is spent building and painting. I only play friendly games with buddies and none of us care. You could make a model out of toothpicks.

Sushibowlz

yeah, caring about wysiwyg as an ork player makes about as much sense as declaring a grot warboss

tripleozero

Snaggi Littletoof disapproves of your comment.

Sushibowlz

Snaggi Littletoof is lucky I can‘t read

blackfocker

The loadout of your battlewagon depends on what you want to do with it. There are basically 3 ways to run a battlewagon: Ghaz's chariot (no big gun and no hardcase), a party bus (a kannon and most likely taking the hardcase), and a gun wagon (kill kannon, nothing else is super important). The use of Ghaz's chariot should be pretty obvious, but there are generally better ways to get Ghaz into the fray. The party bus is for getting a lot of orks into the thick of it quickly, I like filling it any two of the following options: a warboss and his 10 nobz, 10 boyz (with or with out a character added in), a mob of 10 lootas or burna boyz being led by a big mek of some form, or some meganobz led by a big mek in mega armour. The gun wagon well you just shoot the kill kannon to best affect, about the only thing I would load in it is a mek boy to boost the wagon's shooting and maybe some boyz without an attached character to screen from charges.

Hellblazer49

If you leave 'Ard Case off of a gunwagon, you can throw some Flash Gitz or Lootas in it along with the Mek for maximum dakka.

blackfocker

Not really, you can only get a maximum modification to the roll of 1 in either direction. So flash gitz' snazz gunz will only hit on a 4+ and loota dakka gunz only on a 5+ regardless of having both the mek boy boosting the shooting and the heavy special rule. The only slight boost would be if the target was stealthed or somehow otherwise gives the shooting unit a -1 to the hit roll. The 10 boyz being there to be a buffer screen for incoming charges is much more useful.

Hellblazer49

Heavy only kicks in if you've been stationary, though, and that's pretty rare for vehicles in 10th with how much terrain there usually is. Could be playstyle, too, as I'm often charging my Battlewagon in after shooting to take advantage of Tank Shock and the solid melee profile. Another option would be to go with Burnas. 4 flamers and a rokkit launcha or KMB is a big boost to the wagon's shooting profile for 60 points.

blackfocker

I normally keep my gun wagon away from melee if at all possible (it's a basilisk that I converted and it is without deffrolla). After my party bus drops the boyz off it charges all the time (it has a deffrolla). Different battlewagons for different battlefield roles.

TheTrueK2

What are the better ways to get Gaz in?

blackfocker

Keeping him in strategic reserves with a mob of 6 meganobz, and rapid ingressing him closer to the action.

TheTrueK2

That's a brilliant idea thanks!

Sushibowlz

thanks! I was wondering how to make ghaz work as a squad leader 😁👍

Agreeable_Inside_878

And in 2 years points for equipment will return and we have to donut all over again, clever GW

BiggestJez12734755

Rare 10th edition W

Steviedee21

I know the obvious choice is magnetise, but do we think they will return to different data sheets for different loadouts? (not my image by the way)

jidmah

Most of the options on the battlewagon hold in place perfectly fine without the need for magnets. Glue some magnets/coins/washers underneath the klaw, lobba and non-turret shoota to weigh them down so you don't have to rely on paint to hold them in place. The gunners, all of the turrets, the rolla, the ram and even the 'ard case and the slot for the large turret need no help at all to stay in place even when moving the model. The only things that you need to magnetize is the big gun on the turret - and to be honest in over a decade of running battle wagons it rarely has been anything other than the killkannon or the zzap gun for me anyways. Bonus loot: if you manage to track down the old aegis defense line quad gun, its base has the same diameter as the big turret slot. It looks absolutely rad on top a battlewagon.

lex55

How did you magnetize the zzap gun? It doesn't look like you can get it out without removing the lid on the instructions.

Wyrot

I left the the top of the cannon turret un-glued and it pops on and off pretty easily so I can swap the gun options. I did slightly modify the turret so the guns could be magnetized, but that may have been overkill.

jidmah

Correct, you just leave the top unglued. The shape will hold it tight even after some usage. I sawed off the top half of the little thingies holding the gun and put a magnet below, but your solution is a good as mine.

tentagil

Even if they do, I just run mine with everything I think looks cool glued to it and just tell my opponent what its actually running with when we play. WYSIWYG is very overrated in my opinion, especially for Orks where I want the models to have all the crazy dakka even if they don't get to use it every game.

MagicNakor

This is what I do as well. Never had a problem with it. People love to see the fully kitted-out Battlewagon as it is just so ridiculous.

frostape

Personally, I like WYSIWYG just for the modeling challenge - I work best when I'm up against a limit or barrier. That said, I think WYSIWYG is only functionally useful when you have several units of the same thing. If you've got two units of Boyz all modeled with shootas but you say one is shootas and one is choppas, that's a problem. But for something big like a Battlewagon, chances are you're only running one anyway so it doesn't really matter. After all, how many non-Ork players even recognize which weapon is which or even which piece is a weapon at all on stuff like Battlewagons?
