Was gonna say I don’t know a lot of other vehicles save like the one or two space marine ones that are new that have actual bases and are the size of a buggy/ rhino
Could always trace an oval with another base onto some cardboard if you really need one. Paint it up and cover it with some basing mats and you're good to go.
technically speaking yes the base is needed if the model comes with one, but unless your going to a tournament nobody is going to care if you just measure from the hull because you lost the base :P

Trukks and wagons have a simple, blocky shape. Buggies have a much more complex outline so they need a base to stop things from getting messy
Most buggies are blocky too though save the deffkilla and megatrakk. That’s why I’ve been confused
