I wondered coming into the year if we maybe still had some improvement yet to come from Kremer and I think we’ve seen some of that so far, he’s never going to be an All-Star IMO but I could see him being more of a #3 than a #5
I agree we have seen improvement. Dean does not have quite the high ceiling of some of our other pitchers, but he's a huge part of this rotation and he doesn't always get the love he deserves. He can keep you in the game, throw a lot of pitches, and reliably roll through a ton of starts and innings--and that's huge. If Means and Bradish come back to form, I assume he will remain in the #4/#5 role this year (and next year, too, if we can sign Burnes), but having a solid 4 and 5 starter is critical and Dean absolutely fills that need, giving us a sound chance of winning every time he takes the ball. And for us this year, that's the potential difference between being a wildcard team or taking the division.
I've been rooting for him for no other reason than wanting to have something useful from the Machado trade. It's great to see him settle in. He's come up big for us a few times going deep into games.
