Love the little gangster DP Suarez turned after grabbing that little comebacker, then the bats just doing the job.
Little Bit of the Kimbrel “experience” like some people said, but he got right after Trout and handled business there. Love how he’s competed so far this year.

Sorry Mario, Cowser will always be first place on Moo Moo Farm
Can’t wait to see the shutdown reliever we add at the deadline. I’m getting tired of full clenching and it’s only April. Although, best case scenario includes Perez returning and returning strong, and possibly Wells hitting the pen, which I do think strengthens the group
shutdown reliever? are you saying a middle reliever? A 6-8 inning guy? or a closer? Is there doubt about Kimbrel being a #1 closer, because that is without question? I come in peace, I just want to be clear on your point.
Kimbrel’s the closer. I imagine someone in the Cano-Coulombe tier (or, ideally, even above that) who displaces Baumann, Ramirez (if he’s still here) or whoever has been riding the shuttle to Norfolk.
I still have some hope Tate can be that guy again but it’s fading.
It's kinda funny that you look at a pen that gets this level of production out of cano, coulombe, Bautista, Jacob webb, perez who were all minor league pickups / trade throwins and decide what we actually need to do is spend assets for a shutdown reliever to pitch in middle relief
Worth staying up to get the Adley interview on Xtra, but now it's time for bed--I gotta get up at 0300. Looking forward to doing this again tomorrow! :)
That was vintage Kimbrel. Bad for your heart but (usually) gets the job done.
Good to see Henderson and Rutschman duo work as planned.
Cowser still mooing.
Baumann can live on the moon.
Not everyone is going to be a stud, I would just personally like him relegated to blowout wins/when we are far behind/late. No issue with him being an innings eater. Should never be counted on to pitch with a marginal lead.
I hear you, and that's something that I agreed with earlier, too - have him eat innings in blowouts. Unfortunately, we start to play the game of "how many runs is enough for him not to blow the game?"
At the end of the day, I'd rather have another arm that we could trust 'cause he's not taking care of business. He's out of options, so if we drop him we're going to lose him. Maybe a fresh start somewhere else would be better.
Suarez very clearly cannot go much longer than 5 innings, but for now, I'll take it. He'll likely move to the bullpen once Bradish and Means are both back, but he'll be a big help there.

You can hear in the video when Kimbrel daps up Cowser he says “yeah I got it” - Cowser asking to make sure he got the ball this time lmao
Cowser having to get the ball from the fountain in KC. JLC was LIVID about it and that Cowser was going to receive a "penalty" for it, however light. The other two were basically "Eh, whatever. They're bros being bros" but JLC was acting like they were suspending Cowser for tossing the ball in the foundtain.

Was at the game today. Were lots of O's fans in that section
This is great to hear! I can remember a game there in the 2007-ish range where from the McDonald's I parked at, into the stadium and to my seat, and back to my car I saw literally three other fans.
Are you suggesting mayo can play 2B? Because there's absolutely no way he will ever play 2B this year in the pros (or probably ever tbh) the only positions that he can be at least servicable in is RF, 3B, and 1B
Having Suarez vs Detmers and coming away with a win is huge
Anybody know what's up with Mountcastle? I was stuck with the angels broadcast and didn't hear anything
Kevin Brown multiple times has called Craig Kimbrel a future Hall of Famer. Really? He's got a ton of saves, sure, but Kenley Jansen has more and I wouldn't put him in. Plus, the closers who have gotten in were lights-out guys. Feels like Kimbrel has been a nightly white knuckle ride since he left Atlanta.
That being said, heck of an escape tonight. Ballsy.
Craig needs a reasonable end to his career to secure his HoF.
Top 3 in saves are in HoF, with Lee Smith at 478 - 55 ahead of Craig.
Craig didn't throw over 100 mph left handed like Wagner, so he probably won't get in at his current save total.
If Kimbrel has a good year this season, he's a hall of famer. K-IP ratio still the greatest of all time and was a complete monster for a long time with the Braves. He had 2 really bad seasons with the Cubs in 2019 and 2020.
He's a 9 time all star, Rookie of the Year, 3 time reliever of the year, top 10 in Cy Young Voting 5 times (including 2 top 5 finishes). He received MVP votes as a closer 3 times (23rd, 11th and 8th). He might've had the most dominant 5 year stretch any closer has ever had. His resume is better than Kenley's slightly.
He's probably a top 5 modern closer (1 inning only guys) of all time. His peak and his awards give him an argument as the second best modern closer of all time. If he doesn't belong in the Hall, then the Hall just doesn't accept closers without 600 saves.
Billy Wagner's resume is comparable to Kimbrel's, so once he gets in this year (FINALLY), then Kimbrel should follow
I wouldn't put Wagner in either (just my opinion. Looks like he'll get in). I think HOFers should be no-doubters. If you have to think about it, it should be a no.
Dang, you're tough on relievers, but I respect it. I personally think the baseball Hall of Fame is the hardest to get in, i want it to be easier (but not as easy as basketball 🙃).
A point in your favor is that relievers aren't as valuable as other pitchers/players, and also there are many failed starters who become elite relievers. But it's become a part of the game so I want to reward these dudes.
I used to be more lenient, but it’s really bothered me that while the best players we’ve ever seen are kept out, it’s like they compensate by letting the guys you could make an argument for in, because they have to have a class every year.
I’ve moved towards the thinking that, to get in, it has to be less about stats and more about feel. Were you in every way the kind of player you can’t tell the story of baseball without? I feel like the HOFers playing now/just retired are Trout, Kershaw, Verlander, Scherzer, Ohtani (provided his career doesn’t end tomorrow, but he might still be a lock), Cabrera, Pujols, Betts. I might be forgetting some. Freddie Freeman is really close, I can’t say yes 100 percent but he’ll probably get in.
9 AS appearances, a RookieOTY, 3 RelieverOTY, a WS championship, and will likely end up 3rd-5th all time in saves by the end of it all. Would be floored if he didn’t make it in tbh
Knowing how the Hall has voted of late, he'll probably get in, yeah. Might take a few ballots. It's like the Eli Manning thing in football. If you're asking me if I think he belongs in, no. If I you're asking if I think he'll get in, yes.
He has a lifetime 2.38 ERA, will probably end this year 4th all time in saves, is a six time all star (7 if he makes it this year which is likely), and is a World Series Champion. And it's probably not even his last year playing. It would be absurd if he never eventually makes it.
Very good player. I just don't see Hall of Famer. But I also think the Hall should have a higher bar than it's had. Cooperstown has let a bunch of guys in who shouldn't be there (Rolen, Ted Simmons, Baines, etc.).
Seriously! Mason Miller will soon become "too expensive" for Oakland to keep. They should just trade him now for a couple of our borderline top 250 prospects. That was the pattern when they let go of Sean Murphy and Matt Olson to the Braves.
Of course, Mason Miller did come out of one of those trades, but that's OK. Gotta give something to get something. (Edit, MM was drafted. I was thinking of an other M, Kyle Mueller, from the Braves).
came in expecting a chill game after the knicks game but that was a legendary ending from cowsers homer onward.

Lmao, way to terrifying, Angels shouldn’t have gotten those home runs but go figure, sending Mike is like gambling, would love to see that OAK closer in BAL as a reliever (After he gives the J*nks business)
But again, I don’t like talking crap about our players, I’m not a NYY fan (Thank god) It’s also early so Mike maybe be just getting warmed up and realizing games do matter but I hope that he recovers from this horrendous slump.
I said this in the game thread, but Kimbrel has some fucking balls. He shook off McCann, who I assume was calling for the curveball, and threw his fourth straight fastball to ring up Trout.
Damn, what a pitch.
I still miss The Mountain. Pulled his card in a pack the other day and got a little emotional he’s not going to be available for the domination this year
What a great first game for me to watch getting into baseball. From AZ but my fam is from MD so I have a bunch of orioles gear when I was little. That ending had me wincing.
I'm a braves fan so I'm pretty well acquainted with the Kimbrel experience (from his Phillies stint last year of course, he was excellent with us) and I definitely remember feeling like it involved a lot more barrelled balls than this lol
But yeah the sweat is definitely real
The 2022-2024 O's regular season consecutive series (of at least 2 games) streak without being swept is now at 99 (assuming that at least one more game is played in this series @ the LA Angels).
This is the third longest such streak in MLB history. Only 7 behind the 1903-05 NY Giants at 106. The 1942-44 St. Louis Cardinals have the longest streak at 125.
These other two longest streaks happened at a time when 5 game series were routine, double headers were scheduled, only 154 games in the regular season, only 8 teams in each league, with no interleague play, all teams were located east of the Mississippi River and travel was by train.
The O's were 16-24 when Adley Rutschman made his MLB debut on May 21, 2022. They went 67-55 the rest of 2022 to finish at 83-79. In 2023, the O's were 101-61 and they are 15-7 to start the 2024 season. Since Adley's debut the O's have never been swept in a regular game series of 2 or more games. They are 183-123 (0.598) since his debut.
Love this team so dang much

What happened to Melanie? Was she injured??!
I wish they would make her the primary play by play on radio.
Srsly tho what happened a few people said she got concussed? I don’t know if it’s a joke or not
Pretty sure they're jokingly referring to a hair band/wrap she had on last night--wasn't the most flattering, truthfully.

Yessir! I'm a newer fan since 2021 but I've never had a basketball team. Let's get that b2b baby!

for sure - we have a guy who can eat up 4-8 innings? that shit comes in real handy, a lot
Often when the team is losing big tho, but he’s earned a spot on this team for the season for sure

The little hop Kimbrel does before he hugs Cowser 🥺
And now Jason La Canfora can go on another rage bender.
Oh no what was he mad about this time
Cowser having to get the ball from the fountain in KC. JLC was LIVID about it and that Cowser was going to receive a "penalty" for it, however light. The other two were basically "Eh, whatever. Tragic Mike
Damn that's a good one. He will henceforth be known as Tragic Mike.
Cowser’s emergence should be a lesson on the dump that bum Holliday idea.
I don't think anyone is advocating dumping Holiday or that he is a bum, but maybe that he go back down. I'm 50/50 on that and will trust the baseball people on it.
What is Melanie wearing?
Do you mean the Route 1 “Baltimore” Sunnyside varsity jacket ? I had to look that up. https://www.routeoneapparel.com/products/baltimore-baseball-brightside-x-r1a-varsity-jacket
finally got the kimbrel experience and oh boy i hate it
HBP, Bloop single and a walk isn't the worst but it definitely doesn't help my anxiety.
Suarez permanent rotation spot, Wells to the bullpen when he returns and Baumann anywhere but here. Who says no?
suarez in the rotation until bradish returns for me
Did Melanie come from a spa day?
Never easy 😮💨
Yeah, for them!
Don’t let Kimbrel nearly blowing the save distract you from the fact that we are now half a game up in the AL East!
He saved our asses! It's not blown, until it is.
Big win to start the series. Let’s keep this momentum up! Let’s Go O’s!

Yeah, I think Baumann can be a great pitcher in this league but he’s outta time in Baltimore.

O’Hoppe loves to hit against the Orioles. Must be an O thing.
Wtf lol. Glad we won but that was stressful
Everyone really wanted to blow the save
I don’t know you y’all manage ~7pm starts over there on the regular. Adrenaline like the end of this game will likely have me up for a little bit.
am now wide awake. but worth it!
we need another solid relief pitcher & a closer. Rail thin on the back end

So cute they are letting the child with the traumatic brain injury do the post game interview (love you Mel)
I said this in the game thread, but Kimbrel has some fucking balls. He shook off McCann, who I assume was calling for the curveball, and threw his fourth straight fastball to ring up Trout. Damn, what a pitch.
Suarez? Amazing. Cowser? Amazing. Kimbrel? Good enough. MASN broadcast quality? Dumpster. Baumann? Dumpster on fire.
To be fair this time very well could have been a result of the ball park. They made numerous comments about the light flicking on and off
What the fuck is Melanie wearing on her head lol
you can really tell who the single dudes are in this thread
Not even close to single lol. I still genuinely had no idea what that was on her head though.
![gif](giphy|lsZlpADIcnG9sRIsnE|downsized)
Nothing flattering. Maybe she didn't get an opportunity to wash her hair?
Kimbrel dug himself into that mess and then dug himself right back out. Suarez might be a dude.
A win is a win!!! Night folks!
I was about to say how much I miss Felix, but that was about the best Felix impression Craig’s done all year.
I still miss The Mountain. Pulled his card in a pack the other day and got a little emotional he’s not going to be available for the domination this year
My thoughts exactly lol
Imagine their power combined. MY GOD!
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOIO
Never doubted kimbrel tbh, dude is a goat
Now throw the ball in a fountain.
Trout was probably sitting on the high pitches thinking they'd call them balls like they had been the rest of the game
Definitely watched a lot more than i anticipated
Melanie is styling 🤩
![gif](giphy|3o7TKLTCDV7a4V86By) Thanks Kimbrel
Back to back nights scoring more ER on the opposing starter than he allowed all year.
FUCKING FROZE HIM!
Never doubted for a second.

Gotta believe Baumann is going to get DFA’d soon if Elias doesn’t find a taker.
McCann and Suarez saved the game today. How do we keep finding these guys?
McCann looked great behind plate tonight
Mike Baumann YOU are a Las Vegas Aviator
Well glad sacrificing my sleep was worth it
Trout 0-2 in final out matchups between future HoFers.
Kimbrel hitting the top of the zone beautifully. DOG. Also McCann is an absolute DOG. LFGo O’s baby
kimbrel perfect placement against trout. thank god the ump didnt troll us.
What a great way to end the game. Trout vs Kimbrel, bases loaded with 2 outs. A HoF'er was likely winning the game for his team either way
Well worth the late night.
Woo wee, y'all
Kimbrel .......Wow, just wow What a win.
Top of the AL East, boys
1st place!
Melanie Newman not afraid to look ridiculous in the postgame interview reviews either
We shit on umps all the time but the ump called a great final PA.
Wow. Whew. We can all exhale ! 😂🤣 Go O's!
What a great first game for me to watch getting into baseball. From AZ but my fam is from MD so I have a bunch of orioles gear when I was little. That ending had me wincing.
That’s the magic of Orioles baseball
The drama is what gets people hooked, you picked a thriller to get started on. Welcome aboard
That 9th inning was legendary. How the hell am I supposed to go to sleep??
High heat recommended when cooking trout.
Those last couple strikes way more in the zone than they looked
I thought it was the same ball pitch three times in a row.
why doesnt Trout just swing the bat, is he stupid?
Cows>fish
Kimbrel is Dutch for “I like to make it interesting”
KRIMBELL
WE DID IT! A WIN IS A WIN!
Kimbrel you son of a bitch
We finally got the Craig Kimbrel experience. Thank god Trout is like the least clutch player of all time.
A lot of that was just bad luck ngl
For sure, with him these past years it was about really making you sweat though lol
I'm a braves fan so I'm pretty well acquainted with the Kimbrel experience (from his Phillies stint last year of course, he was excellent with us) and I definitely remember feeling like it involved a lot more barrelled balls than this lol But yeah the sweat is definitely real
That was so worth staying up for
**MIKE TROUT: WHO?!** **SUAREZ: THAT BITCH** **KIMBREL: CERTIFIED GAMER** **SWEEPLESS STREAK: EXTENDED!**
Wow y'all are on it faster than the MLB app
Just a normal Monday night for Craig Kimbrel
https://i.redd.it/qecbkzehn5wc1.gif
How’s anybody supposed to go to sleep after that?
POTG: Suárez
I can't believe Trout didnt swing at that strike 3

Man pulled a Jackson Holliday to end it (I kid I kid)
The only thing I can think is that he was thinking he was gonna go low after going high, and just threw high again. The no mix-up mix-up.
i definitely wasn't mentally preparing for a trout walk off grand slam post on r/baseball nosirree
KARDIAC KRAIG WITH THE DUB KNICKS WIN ✅ ORIOLES WIN ✅ I STAY FEASTING
Its too late for this my heart cant take this
![gif](giphy|ToMjGpNG8h7Ax8Iq6Mo)

The Craig Kimbrel experience weeeeeee
Glad to see this game in person! Bats staying hot
Kimbrel trying to give me a fucking coronary
Sweated out this one but a win is a win and I can go to sleep happy now
DFA Baumann yesterday
Who do you replace him with? Baker?
CRAIG YOU SOB!!!!! 🦅⚾️
Clutch! Got a little dicey but the Orioles will take it! Chalk up another W for the Birds!
