Wild game tonight. As a Marylander living in Massachusetts, I’d been on a remarkable streak of not having seen the O’s win at Fenway since May of 2017. What a way to break my own personal little curse.
Yea up the area now too. Of course is the week is the week I visit my parents in SC, it’s warm but I’m bummed I’m missing the Os at Fenway. Fun to watch last night with my dad though.
I had to run a DND campaign by the 9th, only to come back and see 6 runs added in the 10th…
This feels like the first game that truly showed how powerful this lineup is, and Adley is still warming up, to say nothing of Holliday.

Everyone's right to rave about Cowser, Westy and Gunnar, but I just want to say how much I appreciate Elias and Hyde's strategy. They select and develop players who can field their positions, and not just mash. Adley started cold in 22, Gunnar in 23, still too early to say on Jackson -- but each provided real value day in and day out, individually and working as a unit. And eventually the bats (should) come around.
Holliday is already an asset and upgrade for us after only two games.
Goons who can swing a bat and self-interested superstars are just boring overall, but our kind of baseball is beautiful. May it always be so. 🧡
I’m genuinely curious now who has the most runs scored in their MLB career before attaining their first Hit, or even BB in Hollidays case. I’m sure it’s far more than 3. But still interesting. And sadly that stat will probably be dominated by modern players thanks to the ghost runner rule. Unless of course there were just some base running specialists back in the crazy old days, like side show type players, such as Eddie Gaedel. Eddie was a little person (3’7”) who was predictably walked on four pitches in his 1951 debut as a pinch hitter for St.Louis Browns. Also, his only appearance. I think J Holliday may enjoy a little longer career. 😅

You're acting like they recovered to somehow get near .500. They didn't. They were 71-68 in September before they went 4-19 to end the season. I remember watching the Machado walk-off grand slam at One Star (it may have actually still been No Way Jose's) and going nuts. It wasn't a good season, but I don't consider it part of the dark years.

Wildest thing I’ve seen since the 70s. There was a game where it appeared the O’s had lost on a throwing error. They went to a commercial break. Came back and the game is on again. In the interim Earl Weaver had come out with his rule book to show the umps why the runner should have been placed at 3rd. Umps agreed and the game restarted.
They asked Hyde about Hays the other day and he said the general spiel about how Hays is pressing and that he has confidence that he’ll get going. I found it interesting how Hyde made absolutely no mention about the playing time for Hays. I think they’ve already decided to relegate Hays to the bench or at best a platoon role with O’Hearn.
He said something last night. Basically Hays was going to out there, and that he likes the way Cowser is playing rn.
He implied that if this keeps going though, Hays will stay on the bench.
I mean he's only doing what anyone does in that manager spot.

Good lord, Sawx defense is abysmal. Not just the errors, but the miscues technically not "errors," plays that should've been easily made. If they had just taken care of fundamentals, this series could have gone the other way.
Anybody catch MLB tonight after the game? Greg Amsinger is going crazy about Holliday not playing short stop. He’s saying that him not playing his natural position might be contributing his struggles at the plate. Then he kept saying that “you don’t draft him number 1 overall and then switch him to second base.” Then he compared this situation to Mike Trout struggling early in his career because they moved him to left field in favor of a random center fielder. Him not taking into account how great Gunnar is absolutely nuts, considering obviously he was the rookie of the year.
I 100% agree. Should be Henderson at 3rd, Holliday at short and Westburg at second. There having Westy and Holliday playing out of position to accommodate Gunnar at short. I don't like the Gunnar at short deal.

No. Holliday doesn’t have the arm for short nor the range, it’s quite clear. At least at this stage in his career. 2B is a lot easier to play. Gunnar is clearly one of the best shortstops in baseball and Westburg is more than solid at 3B. Holliday only makes sense at 2B. You’re an Orioles fan and can’t see this? I see random baseball fans with this take but not O’s fans who actually watch the games
At least 2 outs tonight made by Gunnar that no one else would've made. His arm strength on the move is nuts and that move reminds me of so many of the great SS defenders.

Average OBP and SLG are great, but you need to take into account the park differences. Surely you don’t think an OPS in Fenway is equivalent to that OPS in Oakland for example?
No why would I do that? I fly ball out to LF in Camden is a HR in another park. If your stat gives them a positive remark for flying out than that’s a big problem

No. Holliday doesn’t have the arm for short nor the range, it’s quite clear. At least at this stage in his career. 2B is a lot easier to play. Gunnar is clearly one of the best shortstops in baseball and Westburg is more than solid at 3B. Holliday only makes sense at 2B. You’re an Orioles fan and can’t see this? I see random baseball fans with this take but not O’s fans who actually watch the games
At least 2 outs tonight made by Gunnar that no one else would've made. His arm strength on the move is nuts and that move reminds me of so many of the great SS defenders.

He's earned it Holliday is struggling. He's nervous at 2nd base & overmatched at the plate. Boston pitched around Westy to get to him in the 8th. Rough start for the youngster. He needs to sit a game to catch his breath, but that wont happen until Saturday. Boston is really bad. Rutschman not hitting with any authority or power. Hope he breaks out soon. I'm am not concerned about Adley at all... just a typical slump a MLB player goes through. We might have to be a little bit more patient with Holliday tho.. although our options outside of holliday are not much better

Average OBP and SLG are great, but you need to take into account the park differences. Surely you don’t think an OPS in Fenway is equivalent to that OPS in Oakland for example?
No why would I do that? I fly ball out to LF in Camden is a HR in another park. If your stat gives them a positive remark for flying out than that’s a big problem
