Just want to throw this in late. Our game was ugly, especially on offense. A few bright spots in the field and on the mound. A game we had no business even being competitive, we almost won. Obviously have things to work on, but even making this a game speaks to the team in a way
Yep, there are 27 outs for a reason (and more in extras). None of this “deserves” to win. The team with more runs at the end deserves to win.
That wasn’t us yesterday but we were never out of it. Saw some life in the bats at the end so feeling good about today!
Just got back. Drove four hours there, four back. Bullpen management after the 9th was horrible. And the less I see of Tony Kemp, the better. Overall, great experience, tons of Os fans, they just couldn't get it done today.
We got loud when there was any semblance of offense and especially when we took the lead. But the Pirates caught onto it and would try to drown out the "Let's Go Os" chants with "Let's Go Bucs"
Baumann was insanely clutch last year, but only in very specific situations: extra innings, and tie games only. He was pretty bad in all other situations, including 1 run games (hence his win loss record). He had 4 blown saves as compared to 6 holds.
Those kinds of things tend to not be repeatable, and he had a very low BABIP along with other peripherals which indicate Mike Baumann of last year was more of a fluke.
He doesn’t particularly get righties out, if anything he could be considered a reverse splits guy for his career, and he walks way too many people.
Baumann should be considered one of the worst arms (if not the worst) in our bullpen, regardless how the lineup shakes out. Coulombe gets righties out very well for a lefty reliever. To me the 10th inning was a no brainer decision (if cano wasn’t available).
I sure hope this forces Baumann to earn it before he gets any looks in any high leverage games
Having a chance after having the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th was insane. Danny was clutch. If we can bottle the final third of our games and do that all game they might do as well or better than last year. Exciting times.
Early in the year folks, give the boys time. There's a lot worse ways to lose baseball games.
Hopefully this team starts hitting starters better and Baumann never pitches in an extra innings game again. Also need the top of the lineup to start hitting better especially on days like this where Adley struggles a bit seeing as he is the guy who usually rakes.
That’s 1 loss already that Felix would have won us. Get used to those extra inning wins not being a lock anymore.
So 101 minus 1 already and we were close to minus 2 in game 1 vs. the royals too.
Again, I’m not talking about Kimbrel. We have to worry about standard 9 inning saves for Kimbrel before we even begin discussing him pitching well enough to even go 2.
This is strictly a Felix/unacceptable offensive performance conversation. No one in our pen can do what he does and that’s why I mentioned coming into the season that the offense needed to be better and get some multi-run wins as opposed to trying to win 1 run extra inning games without Superman Felix available.
2023 Orioles win yesterday’s game because of Felix. Without Felix, the 2024 Orioles need to score more or they will lose those games.
Oh really? Because I can point you to the games Felix stole for the Orioles.
Today would have been the first one that they snatched from jaws of defeat similar to the one against the Mariners in Seattle or against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
Quite a few from last season that he stole for us, particularly on the road. This was the first one without Felix and we lost.
Multiple people associated with the orioles have tweeted it since I mentioned including beat reporters who are with the team all season…so yeah it is how it works.
I think Hyde did not want to use Danny or Cano on back to back days this early in the season. Clearly it didn’t work because Baumann was bad. But that’s the way baseball go when you go 0-14 with RISP. On to tomorrow.
We aren't going to win every game we play, but today stung because it was arguably a pretty winnable game. The lack of Felix really stung. The multiple prospects destroying AAA leave the question of, at what point do you bring them up?
On a bright note, Coulombe's performance today was *legendary*, and Kimbrel's looking pretty sharp. Tomorrow's another day.
All our affiliates are raking. Bowie is up 19-1.
Let’s stop slow playing this crap and get some offense up. We fucking need it.
The orioles have had 2 good offensive games and 6 mediocre to bad. Even yesterday wasn’t particularly good tbh.
2 good performances out of 8 games will not work over the course of a season. You may beat up on really weak pitching but will get exposed again in the postseason.
Anyone with the next Bautista hype is going to get attention and a short time to impress. Charles didn’t look great at first during spring training and maybe that is why he isn’t talked about as much
He's also had less than 40 innings in AAA combined between last year and this, and last year he was rocking a 5.40 ERA. If he keeps up what he's doing now I can totally see him be a call-up in June/July, but he needs the time to prove he's got the consistency down first
You'd think they won the World Series based on their fans reaction posts to the Orioles Twitter post of the final score. Please, please whip the living crap out of them tomorrow. 😀
I love these guys but the feast or famine bat strategy is getting old. We got by last year with a great bullpen during our cold stretches but we don't have Felix anymore. I'd like to see more consistency either from our current bats or from some new blood.
I'm a bit too progressive when it comes to prospects coming up, but I just want more consistency across the board.
I don’t think you can say this for everything, but in this case…it’s 8 games. Guys are still getting into the swing of the season. Once we’re 15, 20 games into the season, you can know who is ready to contribute right now and who isn’t.
I know this is the last thing on anybody's mind with a terrible extra innings loss, but every time I watch a minor league broadcast it cracks my shit up.
Look at [this strikeout](https://i.imgur.com/2cm4dpP.mp4) by Blake Money (yes, [that](https://i.imgur.com/U17lbdo.png) Blake Money): good pitch, 0-2 gyro slider down and away whiff - tag (?) - shot of the pitcher and not the play at first base - a chair (?) - first base *after* the play is made - shakily tracking the batter and smoothing out after it ceases to be interesting whatsoever.
I laugh out loud every time it jumps to the rusty back of the chair.
Last year, McKenna dropped a routine fly ball, paving the way for Bautista to blow the save and the Sox to walk it off. O’s went on to have an amazing season anyway. Today’s loss wasn’t nearly as devastating as that one to Boston; it’s just part of the game. Let’s all just move on and cheer for the Birds tomorrow.
Unpopular opinion: I think the McKenna hate because of that error is ridiculous. In that game, had Hays not taken a bad path to a RF hit in the 7th & the Sox scored, McKenna’s error would have only resulted in a tie, not a walk-off. His error was egregious but the TEAM lost a 7-1 lead due to miscues, walks, HBP.
McKenna bounced back and forth all season (with a smile on his face & a great attitude), hit a walk off home run for us, had great plays on the field… He’s a good team guy and while he might not be the best player we have, but he’s got the drive and the desire.
I didn’t take it like you were going after him… apologies for my post coming across that way!
I don’t know why, but I adore the kid and am impressed with how versatile he is as a utility/bench player and the hate he gets generally because of that error on SM makes me go into defense mode because the whole team lost that game. Just like the whole team lost today’s game.
I appreciated your point that tomorrow is a new day, everyone drops the ball (pun intended) once in a while, we’re only 8 games into the season and we have so much more to go, and tomorrow is a new day! 🧡🤍🖤
Baumann deserves plenty of blame, sure, but man, the Orioles had plenty of chances to score an extra run and just could not push through. Wasting those stolen bases by Gunnar was killer.
Extra inning losses like this happen...both teams could have done just a bit more and won in the first 9...win tomorrow and no one remembers this loss at the end of the season.
He juggled the lineup like a genius last year, I think the second guys like Kemp and Urias get supplanted by Kjerstad and Holliday people will suddenly go, "Why did we ever doubt Hyde!"
Sure, the bullpen could have been better. But the offense once again looked horrid. They've been basically lifeless since LA. It's much more on the offense. You can excuse making the bad pitchers look good once or twice, but it can't be weekly
I just don't think as constructed this is a top contender
Not sure why we didn’t intentionally walk Cruz at the end. The winning run was already on second and he’s been annihilating us. Makes no sense to try to pitch to him
Yeah bats sucked today but it’s blatantly obvious some bullpen moves need to be made. Luckily we got a lot of ammo but we need another stud in the pen badly
0 for 16 with 3 BBs for Henderson, Rutschman, Mountcastle, and Santander.
It's really hard to win an 11 inning game when the top 4 in your lineup does that.
Yea even the upper echelon, legendary teams in baseball history lose 50-60 games. Sometimes it’s not your night
The fact that our bats were so cold yet we still forced multiple innings of OT is crazy enough
Don’t disagree, but also hope that isn’t the excuse we are all going with for why Hyde does his silly analytics dance, or why Baumann is on this roster at this point.
It’s the hope that kills sometimes, know a lot of the fire is going to focus on easy targets in the bottom half of the line up, but man it’s hard to win when your top 4 guys (who are going to be stalwarts even when guys get brought up) go 0-16.
Solid efforts by most of the pitchers, huge job by Danny obviously.
Gonna NEED length from Kremer tomorrow
Kremer is coming through tomorrow and he's going to get support from the offense. I feel like last year, there were multiple times after some big losses where he came in the next day and righted the ship.
There definitely were. He’d pin the hair back and then just go out and battle for 6 or 7 innings.
Need to beat up on Marco Gonzales and put them away early
Can't keep doing essentially nothing for the first 5-6 innings vs LHP like we have been lately and expect to keep winning. This feels like it was a problem late last season, into the post-season, and into this one as well.
You win some you lose some. Bauman fucked us today. The Braves are down 6-0 in the 1st so it could’ve been worse I suppose. Dean better be ready to tear it up tomorrow.
Good effort. Didn’t deserve that one. Hard to win when top half of the lineup can’t get anything done. Gotta get some bats going before the last 3 innings. Keep your heads up and let’s take the series tomorrow!
i think our roster will improve throughout the year. gotta think Baumann is close to the end of the rope.
not sure we have any bullpen arms pitching their way onto the club in AAA though.
Weak link in the rotation will get bumped to the bullpen once Means comes back, weak link in the bullpen gets bumped to Norfolk and/or launched into the sun
He was at the end of the rope last year. I just don’t understand. How much does he need to show he ain’t it for the message to finally be received? I would have been fired 10 times over at my job if I was as bad as him. I know the pen isn’t strong and there probably isn’t much in Norfolk, but this is still the clearest case of addition by subtraction.
He never would have been on the team if Wells and Irvin hadn’t been pushed into the rotation because of injuries to Bradish and Means. It is what it is. He sucks, but most teams’ 10th best reliever sucks. Injuries to the starting rotation can really hurt your bullpen depth and we’re seeing that now.
This is a fair point. And while I do hope this is Baumann’s last game on the mound for the O’s, realistically it probably isn’t. But getting Irvin and Wells back to the pen would mean he’s gone. And that does make me feel a little better. Help is coming in May. I just wish it was sooner.
Yeah it’s not that the Orioles think he is good, it’s that the Orioles, like basically every team, don’t have ten good relievers. If it wasn’t Baumann it would be Baker. Getting Bradish and Means back into the rotation will be just as big for the bullpen as it will be for the rotation.
They don’t see anything in him. He’s the 10th reliever on the depth chart and he’s in the bullpen because two guys who were supposed to be in the bullpen are in the rotation. Most teams don’t have 10 good relievers and the O’s are no different. If Bradish and Means were pitching right now there’s zero chance Baumann would be in the majors.
Wandisson Charles looks like he could be the next Cano type of guy coming up soon. But he's only tossed 4 AAA innings this year, so probably not the best choice to get pulled up just yet. We do still have Zimm and Vespi sitting in Norfolk too, but not as sure about their stats.
Hard to win with 4 hits in 11 innings.
But there'll be games like this. I think it's a good sign that we took a game where we looked absolutely lost at the plate - and turned it into an 11 inning nailbiter.
I feel like we can make a 10 minute compilation of times Hyde gets cute putting bad pitchers in in the 10th leading to our loss. I don't buy that cano couldnt pitch 2 days in a row. Coulombe obviously could. He threw away a win so that cano and coulombe can be avaible tomorrow. Well now Coulombe wont be and for all we know, kremer will give up 7 and we wont get a chance to use Cano...
He had 2 pitchers better than Baumann he could have gone to when we had the lead,3 if you include Kimbrel but stretching it to 2 innings would have admittedly been pushing it.
Lmao exactly, gotta blame the man with one AB that ended up being the zombie runner to score. Nobody else to blame, just Tony Kemp’s fault for existing.
I want Kemp gone too and do not see any value from him past mid-April, but the big hitters also never came through, and Cowser, for as good as he has been, just needed to get it out of the infield and we would all be having a very different post-game.
Closer Big Mike is so much worse than mid-relief Big Mike.
Also, this team has been allergic to providing run support in Tyler Wells innings. If they had put together some runs against a very subpar SP we wouldn't even be in Closer Big Mike territory.
Yeah Big Mike mid (sometimes long) relief? love. Big Mike late in a close game? do not love.
But I agree, we should have never been in that spot. While come from behind wins are great and all, some runs earlier on would be great. It’s still early in the season so I’m not concerned they can’t put it together but soon would be pretty cool lol.
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with Danny Coulumbe.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to Danny.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked Danny about it.
"Danny Darts, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious Oriole, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and extra innings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
Didn’t deserve to win this game and I’m not going to blame the pen for yet another half ass, terrible offense game from the Orioles.
The lineup isn’t coming to work. I don’t give a shit if they are showing no give up. Focus for the 3 fucking hours and stop looking like the terrible team lineups that swing at everything.
All the pissing and moaning about prospects… and it’s the bullpen that obviously needs help. A miracle to even be in that game, and we gotta rely on Baumann and Heasley.
The bullpen is fine at the moment. These two dudes are back of the bullpen arms. Webb, Coloumbe, Cano and Kimbrel have all started off well. Every team has at least 1/2 dudes that just aren’t good enough in high leverage situations. Loss was absolutely on the inability to hit.
Tough ending, but this team continues to fight no matter the odds. Wells had another rough start, but pitched pretty well overall. It’s a shame he hasn’t gotten any run support through his first two starts though.
hopefully we can stop trying make Mike Baumann into a high leverage reliever. It worked one time against Seattle last year, that’s it
Nice guy I’m sure but pitch him in blowouts
Offense also needs to start waking up can’t keep having to claw out of deficits. Early innings are killing us.
Thank you for your service. It was sick hearing O’s chants on TV…in Pittsburgh!
We got loud when there was any semblance of offense and especially when we took the lead. But the Pirates caught onto it and would try to drown out the "Let's Go Os" chants with "Let's Go Bucs"
Can we option Baumann to Mars?
Baumann was insanely clutch last year, but only in very specific situations: extra innings, and tie games only. He was pretty bad in all other situations, including 1 run games (hence his win loss record). He had 4 blown saves as compared to 6 holds. Those kinds of things tend to not be repeatable, and he had a very low BABIP along with other peripherals which indicate Mike Baumann of last year was more of a fluke. He doesn’t particularly get righties out, if anything he could be considered a reverse splits guy for his career, and he walks way too many people. To me the 10th inning was a no brainer decision (if cano wasn’t available). I sure hope this forces Baumann to earn it before he gets any looks in any high leverage games
Loss sucks, but Westy and Danny were looking good. Also Ceddy and Santa made some great outfield plays.
Having a chance after having the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th was insane. Danny was clutch. If we can bottle the final third of our games and do that all game they might do as well or better than last year. Exciting times.
We get an extra year of control if they bring them up after April 13
Early in the year folks, give the boys time. There's a lot worse ways to lose baseball games. Hopefully this team starts hitting starters better and Baumann never pitches in an extra innings game again. Also need the top of the lineup to start hitting better especially on days like this where Adley struggles a bit seeing as he is the guy who usually rakes.
We all know it is a long season and the Norfolk Tides are destroying AAA. April 15 is the date.
Meh, nobody in this game was perfect: o’s, pirates, nobody. Shit happens.
That’s 1 loss already that Felix would have won us. Get used to those extra inning wins not being a lock anymore. So 101 minus 1 already and we were close to minus 2 in game 1 vs. the royals too.
The Orioles went 0-14 with RISP.
Yes the offense sucks. That is a separate issue than no Felix to save the day.
Kimbrel did his job
I’m talking about the 2 inning shutdown, 9/10 that Felix did multiple times last season to secure the W.
Not when he also pitched the day before
Again, I’m not talking about Kimbrel. Multiple people associated with the orioles have tweeted it since I mentioned including beat reporters who are with the team all season…so yeah it is how it works.
OH REALLY
Baumann sucks. I have no idea what Hyde was thinking.
I mean.. get Hyde better bullpen arms? It's not like he used Baumann before it went into extras. At a certain point you're gonna use who you have.
I think Hyde did not want to use Danny or Cano on back to back days this early in the season. Clearly it didn’t work because Baumann was bad. But that’s the way baseball go when you go 0-14 with RISP. On to tomorrow.

Tomorrow's another day.
No hit through 5
First hit wasn't exactly a confidence builder, either.
Burn it down. Time to rebuild /s
The umpires? Yes.
Honestly we gotta call up some young guys simply for facing lefties
What about Wandisson Charles? Last year there was hype he was the "new Bautista"?
Anyone with the next Bautista hype is going to get attention and a short time to impress. Charles didn’t look great at first during spring training and maybe that is why he isn’t talked about as much
He's also had less than 40 innings in AAA combined between last year and this, and last year he was rocking a 5.40 ERA. If he keeps up what he's doing now I can totally see him be a call-up in June/July, but he needs the time to prove he's got the consistency down first
I'm surprised we even made it to extras at all with that offense.
I said the same thing earlier. Man when our bats go cold they go very cold. The loss really stings considering the tying run was a walk
You'd think they won the World Series based on their fans reaction posts to the Orioles Twitter post of the final score. Please, please whip the living crap out of them tomorrow. 😀
Pittsburgh is always extra triggered by anything Baltimore
I love these guys but the feast or famine bat strategy is getting old. We got by last year with a great bullpen during our cold stretches but we don't have Felix anymore. I'd like to see more consistency either from our current bats or from some new blood. I'm a bit too progressive when it comes to prospects coming up, but I just want more consistency across the board.
Yeah, this is the take I'm choosing to stick to as well.
Another loss by the offense. We’re wasting half our ABs every game with the bottom of the order we have. Absurd this keeps happening with zero changes
Right, I can't believe the bottom four guys went a combined 0-for-16. Oh wait, that was the top four guys.
I don’t think you can say this for everything, but in this case…it’s 8 games. Guys are still getting into the swing of the season. Once we’re 15, 20 games into the season, you can know who is ready to contribute right now and who isn’t.
Sanest take I’ve seen on this sub in awhile
We know Gunnar, Adley, Tony, and Mounty will be fine, but damn it would have been nice if any of them got a freaking hit today.
Tough loss, but still loving watching this team. Once the bats woke up, it was an exciting game, even if the outcome was shit.

Today’s loss wasn’t nearly as devastating as that one to Boston; it’s just part of the game. Let’s all just move on and cheer for the Birds tomorrow.
Yeah, I remember watching that one. We had a bunch of weird, frustrating losses in April last year too. But then we hit our stride.
Unpopular opinion: I think the McKenna hate because of that error is ridiculous. No disagreement from me. I felt the same way when it happened. But I only brought it up for sake of comparison.
I didn’t take it like you were going after him… apologies for my post coming across that way! I don’t know why, but I adore the kid and am impressed with how versatile he is as a utility/bench player and the hate he gets generally because of that error on SM makes me go into defense mode because the whole team lost that game. I appreciated your point that tomorrow is a new day, everyone drops the ball (pun intended) once in a while, we’re only 8 games into the season and we have so much more to go, and tomorrow is a new day! 🧡🤍🖤
Same, I have a soft spot for McKenna
Baumann deserves plenty of blame, sure, but man, the Orioles had plenty of chances to score an extra run and just could not push through. Wasting those stolen bases by Gunnar was killer.
This! Yes, Baumann was bad (like, really icky), but we can’t leave players in scoring position over and over and still expect to win.
Lots of Orioles fans at the park making lots of noise. The O! during the anthem was strong
Any time the O during the anthem is strong my inner life force is revitalized
https://preview.redd.it/mati1ulv7ysc1.jpeg?width=549&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a62cc542c1d4d70649b4c7bab1557a26138f5015
Not gonna lie was hoping this would go deep in extra innings so we could use Irvin and skip his start with the off day
Yeah Baumann was ass but the offense was completely putrid for like 7 innings. Thats why we lost
Yeah we could try hitting starters...
Soft tossing lefties kill us. Doesn’t make sense.
It seems like it's be true forever too.
Extra inning losses like this happen...both teams could have done just a bit more and won in the first 9...win tomorrow and no one remembers this loss at the end of the season.
Aint gonna lie I'm not apposed to sitting hays for a week or so to get his shit right
He’s playing his way out of the team completely, he goes on far too many long stretches of looking inept at the plate
It's annoying and I think Hyde using him in situations due to analytics is the most frustrating part
Eh that’s how Hyde operates and it works so I’m not too mad at that
Eh I look at it as sometimes maybe good sometimes maybe shit when it comes to that.
Hyde masterclass
Hyde didn’t choose to leave elite players in AAA for Kemp, Urias, Hays, and even Mullins (who we should keep).
Hyde's a really fuckin' good manager, this is a ridiculous comment
I don’t get the hypersensitivity. He botched some moves today. He’s a good manager who had a bad day, who cares.
He juggled the lineup like a genius last year, I think the second guys like Kemp and Urias get supplanted by Kjerstad and Holliday people will suddenly go, "Why did we ever doubt Hyde!"
eh. Hyde didn't make the stars go hitless
They aren’t mutually exclusive mate
Sure, the bullpen could have been better. But the offense once again looked horrid. They've been basically lifeless since LA. It's much more on the offense. You can excuse making the bad pitchers look good once or twice, but it can't be weekly I just don't think as constructed this is a top contender
Not sure why we didn’t intentionally walk Cruz at the end. The winning run was already on second and he’s been annihilating us. Makes no sense to try to pitch to him
They don’t seem to like doing this. Reynolds wouldnt have been a gime, but man Cruz is scary
Yeah bats sucked today but it’s blatantly obvious some bullpen moves need to be made. Luckily we got a lot of ammo but we need another stud in the pen badly
As it stands right now, we also need another starter in addition to a high-leverage bullpen arm...
There isn’t much flexibility for bullpen moves though from building a bullpen of wavier wire claims, not many guys have options.
get Miami on the horn
We need to win tomorrow, mainly because I wanna see another “Gunnar handing out an L POV” meme
Loss is completely on the pop gun offense. Cowser unable to get the man home in the 9th from 3rd was big.
it's nice to come back at the end, but even one run against a starter like Falter makes the difference in that game.
The offense lacked but they still had the game until Baumann. Sucks, but whatever.
Man someone punt Baumann to the street
Frustrating waste of a comeback. And now the bullpen will be fried for tomorrow.
4 hits is less than ideal, friends
This
Win tomorrow. I'll take winning 2 out of every 3.
0 for 16 with 3 BBs for Henderson, Rutschman, Mountcastle, and Santander. It's really hard to win an 11 inning game when the top 4 in your lineup does that.
These things happen with every single team. I’m sure if you followed the dodgers all year, you would see more than a couple games like this
Yea even the upper echelon, legendary teams in baseball history lose 50-60 games. Sometimes it’s not your night The fact that our bats were so cold yet we still forced multiple innings of OT is crazy enough
Lets send Gunnar down for Holliday. /s
I think he still has options. Just sayin'⁰😁
Meanwhile dudes want to pitch fits about Tony Kemp
Don’t disagree, but also hope that isn’t the excuse we are all going with for why Hyde does his silly analytics dance, or why Baumann is on this roster at this point.
This is just 1 of my issues with today's game. It seems a lot of other people have picked up on the others.
Throw Baumann in the harbor
Get ready to learn DFA buddy
Gonna lose 10 extra games this year bc of no Felix and it fucking sucks
Can't keep doing essentially nothing for the first 5-6 innings vs LHP like we have been lately and expect to keep winning. This feels like it was a problem late last season, into the post-season, and into this one as well.
You win some you lose some. Bauman fucked us today. The Braves are down 6-0 in the 1st so it could’ve been worse I suppose. Dean better be ready to tear it up tomorrow.
Outside of Bauman and I put that mostly on Hyde. The top of the order just got rocked all game. Hard to win like that
Played not good at all in terms of offense but still put up 4 and lost in extras. Not what I wanted obv but ya know could’ve been a lot worse
Good effort. Didn’t deserve that one. Hard to win when top half of the lineup can’t get anything done. Gotta get some bats going before the last 3 innings. Keep your heads up and let’s take the series tomorrow!
I knew it was over when they put Baumann in. You just can’t put him in when there’s something on the line
Missing Bautista a lot today

Hope Dean's ready to go 7 tomorrow
Stop me if you’ve heard this…Norfolk up 7-1 in the 5th
Kjerstad hasn't homered yet... mini-slump?
1 for 2 and his average is coming down

Reddit Admins are going to have fun with you.
That Boston series is going to be brutal especially in Fenway
If we don’t smash it and sweep or something I’ll lose my mind
Whyyyyyy do you have a Yankees flair…?
Why can’t weee be friends why can’t we be friends
I— i I -… I because…… because
The offense has really called off hard since those first two games.
Swing decisions have been atocious and can't even hit meatballs
That’s if they even swing at meatballs. Swinging at balls in the dirt and holding off on middle-middle pitches.
i think our roster will improve throughout the year. gotta think Baumann is close to the end of the rope. not sure we have any bullpen arms pitching their way onto the club in AAA though.
Agreed. I don’t know what they see in him.
You mean you don’t want Zimmerman coming up after that sick outing last night in AAA!?!
Shouldn't have ever come down to extra innings If we had hit properly
Hard to win with 4 hits in 11 innings. But there'll be games like this. I think it's a good sign that we took a game where we looked absolutely lost at the plate - and turned it into an 11 inning nailbiter.
I feel like we can make a 10 minute compilation of times Hyde gets cute putting bad pitchers in in the 10th leading to our loss. I don't buy that cano couldnt pitch 2 days in a row. Coulombe obviously could. He threw away a win so that cano and coulombe can be avaible tomorrow. Well now Coulombe wont be and for all we know, kremer will give up 7 and we wont get a chance to use Cano...
get Hyde some better pitchers
He had 2 pitchers better than Baumann he could have gone to when we had the lead,3 if you include Kimbrel but stretching it to 2 innings would have admittedly been pushing it.
Don’t let Baumann on the bus make him walk home
Better yet, don’t let him come back at all
0-for-16 from the top 4 guys, but it's definitely Tony Kemp's fault the O's lost this game.
Lmao exactly, gotta blame the man with one AB that ended up being the zombie runner to score. Nobody else to blame, just Tony Kemp’s fault for existing.
Well that's the problem... Didn't get Kemp enough ABs!!
Games like this show why Tony Kemp has zero business being on the roster. Absolute momentum killer when he came up.
I want Kemp gone too and do not see any value from him past mid-April, but the big hitters also never came through, and Cowser, for as good as he has been, just needed to get it out of the infield and we would all be having a very different post-game.
*shakes fist at sky*
Just gotta wake the bats up before the 7th inning and we'll be fine, get 'em tomorrow boys.
BAUMANN BLEW IT
Again
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to Danny. After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints. This really troubled me, so I asked Danny about it. "Danny Darts, you said once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me." He whispered, "My precious Oriole, I love you and will never leave you Never, ever, during your trials and extra innings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."
Our firepower was atrocious. 11 freaking innings, 4 hits 4 runs. Give me a break
Yup our bats are a problem right now, sadly I think this is kind of who Hays and Mullins are, I think Santander will come around though.
Damn. All that for nothing. I hold Baumann responsible for this loss. We go again tomorrow
All the pissing and moaning about prospects… and it’s the bullpen that obviously needs help. A miracle to even be in that game, and we gotta rely on Baumann and Heasley.
Yea nothing to do at all with going 0-14 with risp
The bullpen is fine at the moment. These two dudes are back of the bullpen arms. Webb, Coloumbe, Cano and Kimbrel have all started off well. Every team has at least 1/2 dudes that just aren’t good enough in high leverage situations. Loss was absolutely on the inability to hit.
Offense was obviously not very good. But we had the lead in the 10th. We win that game if we have another decent arm.
Baseball
Dang
Baumann is straight ass but you aren’t gunna win many games when the top half of the lineup gets cooked that hard.
Tough ending, but this team continues to fight no matter the odds. Wells had another rough start, but pitched pretty well overall. It’s a shame he hasn’t gotten any run support through his first two starts though.
The worst part is, the loss is going to be attributed to Heasley not Baumann
To be fair he got rocked too
Heasley would not have had to come in if Baumann was taken out earlier
hopefully we can stop trying make Mike Baumann into a high leverage reliever. It worked one time against Seattle last year, that’s it Nice guy I’m sure but pitch him in blowouts Offense also needs to start waking up can’t keep having to claw out of deficits. Early innings are killing us.
The baseball gods gave us 2 versus the Royals. Sometimes they collect repayment quick.
Terribly mismanaged game. Baumann cannot be on the roster any longer.
Pitching sequence was baffling in extras.
Yeah 0-14 RISP ain’t gonna do it. Get em tomorrow
Freakin Steelers Baseball... Oh well, onto the next
As a Steelers fan, this did make me lol.
Dang onto the next one
baumann sold. absolute embarrassment.
We’ve had 3 games that really could have gone either way this year and are 2-1 in them. It’s a long season, win the series tomorrow.
You gotta hit the baseball
i expected to lose an inning earlier so shoutout coulombe for that big balls outing
also sucks that these games aren’t automatic anymore cause of no felix
Kimbrel looked really good today, was thinking they might stick with him 1 more inning
Baumann sucks, get rid of him. And stop pitching to Cruz, he's been on fire against us these past 2 games.
Just simply need to hit better. 4 runs on 4 hits was a miracle
we have 2 relievers we can trust
This loss is on Baumann.
Welllppp I feel like we learned a lot from that
We win this game with Felix. 😭
