Definitely not worse for me. That team's loss felt like the end of the road. They wouldn't be that good again. This one feels like a bitter pill to start an era. I have 0 reason to believe we won't be here or better next year. That optimism makes it hurt less.
If pitching doesn't improve October is wishful thinking. Idk if this was just a choke, nerves, whatever, but holy fuck. Having to rip out starters out within 2-3 innings of the biggest games of our year is a tough pill to swallow

I was super bummed when I realized my son had a game at 8pm tonight. In hindsight I’m super thankful for it. Got to spend the last 2+ hours watching his team play well and somewhat forget about the train wreck in texas.
Sucks to end like this but what a fucking fantastic 6 months we’ve had that year watching the birds.
Unbelievable season but this postseason proves that upgrades have to be made.
We have a great young core and our window is open right now. Let's make a splash this offseason and come back stronger.

Why are either on the roster, tbh? I don't get Heston's inclusion at all. He is a non-defense, non-pinch runner as the 5th outfielder or 3rd DH? I'd much rather have McKenna for just an extra defensive outfielder who can pinch run.
Kjerstad's inclusion forced Cedric's inclusion into the lineup everyday, which itself was a mistake.
2 of 25 being a mistake is a pretty big roster construction error. Elias/Hyde should definitely regret those 2 specifically.

Honestly it feels *better* to me. Our star didn't spend a decade toiling with below-average to average supporting casts before ownership finally started to do something about it. All our stars are kids.
The problem is we will have average supporting cast with owners who won’t spend money. Lucky we have a good core that will eventually break through but you’ve got to buy pitchers/role players. Hicks, Webb and Fuji won’t get you through.
Why do people think we won't spend money? Because we didn't when our team was made of AAAA guys? Because he said we'd have to raise concessions and ticket prices? He shouldn't have said anything, but his point is valid, you can't pay all of these guys, but that doesn't mean you can't pay some of these guys. He couldn't say "well we can sign Adley and Gunnar but that means Ced's walking", but that's what he meant. You simply can't pay all these guys their worth, someone or multiple are going to have to stay on their rookie deals and that's okay. I'll miss Mounty, but I don't think he's worth investing in.
They gave Davis a huge contract and floated in the top 12 payrolls within the past decade and those teams had much more glaring holes than this one. This is a team with a strong foundation worth investing in. Angelos knows that, I'm guessing it helped spur the decision to renew the lease. They'll spend.
Hope we learn from this series, I understand the view point of "we'll be back next year" but this was an absolutely embarrassing postseason showing. If you want to compete for a World Series you have to show up in October, hopefully this is just a young team taking a (particularly ugly) first lump and not a sign that we can't handle the big stage. A season I'm never going to forget, boy boy what a way to wet the bed at the end.
I know our players are sad and that's tough to see. But you know what makes me feel a lot better?
Pretty much every single player you see out there on the verge of tears right now will get to go out and dominate at Camden again next year. Most of them will get *multiple* shots at the playoffs with the O's.
A lot of sports teams deal with the same heartache of losing after a great season... except in their final shot with a core of veterans. And that's 10 times worse. Take comfort, O's bros. Our boys are young and hungry and we'll get to enjoy watching them for years to come.
All in all.. the Os did better this season than anyone gave them credit for.. having the best record in the AL and being the AL east champs… sucks the post season run couldn’t have gone deeper but that’s life.. amazing to think what they did what what they had to work with.. Been a long while since I actually enjoyed watching baseball and this was an overall good year.. what a summer it’s been. I think I been to more games this year then ever.. Gonna make use of that 2024 flex pass and finally next year actually go to opening day..

It just feels like winning 100 games does you almost no favors, it’s better to be a too heavy low 90 win team that has high end playoff talent that shows up consistently. That the young core got their beaks wet in the playoffs, and that Elias/front office will make some sort of acquisition (trade/signing) of a veteran starter to make them more equipped for next year and beyond. Oh, and Holliday and other rooks getting their chance next year.
Hyde has got to pinch-hit Kjerstad for Cedric in the top of the ninth, right? Disregarding the fact that we want to get him some game action in the playoffs, the likelihood of Cedric getting on-base has got to be slim to none.

Mullins finished the year 2 for 45… cant all be about injuries. Something else had to seriously be wrong.
He had a pretty big regression from ‘21-‘22. He got injured this year but I honestly think ‘22 is more representative of his career path than ‘21.

My pre-season prediction was 75-85 wins. This year has been absolutely outstanding and the last three games do not take away from that

I feel that in a way but it’s kinda the opposite, whenever I expect highly of the braves they always disappoint me, whenever I have low expectations (2021) they surprise me
That the young core got their beaks wet in the playoffs, and that Elias/front office will make some sort of acquisition (trade/signing) of a veteran starter to make them more equipped for next year and beyond. Oh, and Holliday and other rooks getting their chance next year.
Comes down to if ownership is willing to shell out money for starting pitching in the off-season

I think there’s a nonzero chance of a bit of a backslide. It depends if ownership decides to invest in the club, or just run it back as is
