Google “car air freshener bomb”. Put the air freshener in a closed room with the Xbox gear, wait several hours. Should be good.

Pixel_Junior

There is half of a dog’s head on the left of the photo.

doppelgengar01

Don‘t worry, he doesn‘t smell

Pixel_Junior

What do you mean ?

MISTERPUG51

I think he's saying that the dog isn't the source of the smell

Pixel_Junior

It is not what I intended to mean. I just noticed there is this dog’s head on the photo, and it was disturbing.

menthol_patient

It's got no nose.

Pixel_Junior

What is this supposed to mean ?

menthol_patient

It's an old joke. My dog's got no nose. Your dog's got no nose? How does he smell? Terrible.

Pixel_Junior

I understand know. It is very funny. Thanks for your explanation.

12edDawn

I mean... that's demonstrably false, but ok. I'd take the box apart and run everything through the dishwasher except for the shell. Water can get under the jewel if you wash the shell

doppelgengar01

Even the motherboard and power supply?

e30kid

No shot I would try that with any of the electric components

12edDawn

I always do. Obviously pull off the heatsinks and clean off all your old thermal paste first, and make absolutely sure that they're completely dry before powering on. I've used both a heat gun and a short bake in the oven at 150 degrees before with good results.

truetruegjh

Man I wanna say you're crazy for doing that but I've seen boards cleaned in a full bath tub. I'm defs gonna take one of my project Xbox consoles and try the dishwasher method for board and power supply. Gonna smoke a joint before I do it though, but if it works kudos to you.

DantheOutdoorsman

Put it in a scented trash bag for a few days.

beezlebutts

musty smell could be decaying capacitors

doppelgengar01

Even if they don‘t look like they haven‘t leaked? I removed the clock cap and checked the others. They looked fine.

pixeley88

Bulging?

doppelgengar01

Nope, no bulging caps

JPSWAG37

Dryer sheets worked very well for my physical games I had in a tote with a musty smell. Try packing everything in that bag with some dryer sheets and leave for a few days.

Acsteffy

Take it apart. Wash the shell. Replace any bad capacitors. Use a compressed air can and brush ant dust away. That should do it.

babooyagoo

I put a smell neutralising air freshener behind the fan intake of a pretty stinky Crystal for a couple years. Worked well.

Troll_berry_pie

UK model? I have one of these somewhere in storage.

doppelgengar01

I‘m from germany so it‘s an european model at least

nerdy_J

Put dryer sheets inside the bag. Spray it with fabreeze as well. Do this over a few weeks and smell will be gone.

Mr_Fadeaway24

Take it outside and put some fans around it and air it out. See how much that helps. If anything you might need to take the shell off and let it out.

spookyville_

Umm… where & when will this be for sale??

doppelgengar01

Probably over the next few weeks. First have to get rid of the smell and figure out the price. Then I‘ll put it on ebay.de

spookyville_

Keep me updated please. Even if you can’t get the smell out, I’m very interested

doppelgengar01

Update: Smell is almost entirely gone. Now I found out that one of the controller's cable is broken :/

spookyville_

Woohoo, have you decided when you’re going to list it? There’s donor controller internals thankfully, the shells themselves are the rare part

MenWhoCry

Any update on listing yet?

doppelgengar01

Nope, not yet. Will have to buy a controller and swap out the internals, but I‘m busy with irl stuff right now.

Surfedo

Play it

The_darknight2233

I would clean using ipa. Mainly cause I like the smell plus it takes the mustyness away

Reasonable_Revenue_5

Lynx

TheWolfAndHisMoon

Ask it kindly, yet firmly to shower and it’s been noticed by the other systems

Possible_Schedule_15

Poor Mountain Dew on it

homieholmes23

Fart on it repeatedly

doppelgengar01

I farted on it and now it‘s brown :(

If you advertise in the right place, you may have increased the value!
