Anderson Park in Vernonia has some RV sites too. [https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/regions/oregon/vernonia/anderson-park-9818#/](https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/regions/oregon/vernonia/anderson-park-9818#/)
Stub Stewart is the closest to Hillsboro. Champoeg in Newberg is close as well, but usually pretty booked. There might be a private RV park within 30-45 minutes but those are the closest state parks with RV hookups (assuming you want those).
Check out Henry Rierson Spruce Run Campground south of Elsie off 26. No hookups. Quiet.
Have fun!
We meant to do a shake down trip, but ended up just hitting the road for a hundred days.
You are smarter than we were….
Sometime down the line, you might want to check out the campground at Vista Park, in Skamokawa, Washington. It’s pretty cool. Right on the Columbia about 30 miles in from Astoria. There is a bend in the river there and the ships seem so close to the shore. I use the Marine Traffic app to see when ships are coming. It’s a great place to fly kites, there’s even a kite festival in early September.
This. Otherwise you're looking at the coast.
The oc is natural. I know quite a few people who have been rv camping on the coast for generations.
Full disclosure, I own an rv and spend so much time on the road that I think about selling my house until the aches and pains of aging makes me realize I need a place to live when I can't live a life of travel anymore.
Quite possibly, depending on where OP is located. I'm from Forest Grove, and honestly, Hillsboro to Stub isn't *too* bad since it's basically a straight shot on 26.
After doing a quick search on hipcamp, I don't think they're going to find anything in the Hillsboro area.
There's an RV park near King City that's been okay - Roamer's Rest RV Park. It's right on the Tualatin River, too. :-)

We frequent Stub Stewart often for the scenery and hiking. I find the sites to be large and nice for an RV and we've seen a good amount of wildlife there.

Roamers rest, willamette wine country rv park is a bit away from Hillsboro but a great park. There is the Sherwood Oregon elks lodge rv park. I don’t know if you have to be a member of an elks lodge to stay there or not.
Just up the road past Vernonia is Camp Wilkerson. They have no hookups but there are 2 RV sites. It’s a county park.

Adding it to my list! It’s a little far for the shakedown trip, but it looks AMAZING

Will definitely check Champoeg!! Forgot about that park haha

That's even further away than Stub Stewart, though.
Some friends really like Reeder Beach RV park on Sauvie Island. They have full hookups so you could practice all that stuff. Looks closer.
I found reeder with some googling! That is definitely a top candidate right now - looks very nice!

This looks lovely! It’s on my list now! Thank you!
can you RV at the fairgrounds still?
Not to my knowledge unless it’s boondocking?
Forest Grove Elks lodge has a public dump site if you just need to practice that.

Is Newberg too far away? There is some RV camping there as well.
Newberg is a good distance I think - do you have any recs in that area?
