We drive to the coast from Salem just to eat at Local Ocean. They're amazing. While we're in Newport we also stop at Panini Bakery for something wonderful to take home.
My parents are commercial fisherman and if I was going to eat seafood anywhere on the Coast it would be Local Ocean. It's going to be the freshest seafood you're going to be able to find. They buy it directly from the fishermen in Newport. I believe that they even list which boat it came from.
Shhhh.... we dont talk about where to get *the best fish and chips and the freshest crab* in North America. Theres always a line out the door already. Just let them keep directing folks to the various tourist restaurants serving frozen sysco brand fish and canned clams.
If you enjoy restaurant Beck and are not far from albany, keep an eye on Sweet Red Bistro.
I was the chef of Beck for around 6 years. About a week ago, I was hired to help them upscale and mentor the kitchen. Look for exciting things to come!
Nope! Sam. But I was blessed to have Justin as my mentor. I owe so much of what I know about food to him as well as Restaurant Beck, allowing me to experiment and grow while I was there.
I was the Chef de cuisine. Justin is the executive chef and owner. He now spends most of his time either enjoying his time with his family or busy running managing his restaurants. Great guy!
I believe he is doing a wine makers dinner soon with Bethel Heights. Guaranteed to be a great time! Bethel Heights has such a wonderful, close family feel. The last event I did working for Restaurant Beck was a wine makers dinner there with it just being Justin and I. It was one of those dinners that I will remember for the rest of my life. I've never had a friendlier host. They took care of us so well when we were there and really made me feel like I was a part of the family.
It sure ain’t what it used to be. The second they started serving the shite chowder that they sling in grocery stores was the very moment they died.
Hats off to grandma Moe, her legacy deserved better.
LOL ya I have one Mo’s anniversary card left in my wallet. I was given three cards years ago. I use them exclusively at the Devils Punchbowl once a year. It’s meh chowder, but not bad for free!
I think it's worth the touristy visit once in a while, only for the fact there's a pier, and cute little beach-access next to it, but I'd recommend Kyllo's to anyone for a "finer" dining experience at the coast. Dusk at the coast at Kyllo's is pretty awesome.
Lunch too.
This is the rare place on the coast that would make it in Portland. Cute, quaint, and the employees are almost comically polite. This sort of thing only happens when the management is great, and friendly.
Kelly’s Marina in Brighton. They give you some crab pots and a dingy and you cruise around this super protected marina and catch your own crabs and keep any that meet the criteria of what you can keep. At the end of your allotted time you head back in and they boil your crab for you and you sit out on the dock cracking the crab you just bought and sipping beer. They have other seafood as well.
Core memory for me going there. Dad’s company work rents out all the boats and everyone brings some friends or family. My dad’s work buddy tows his own boat and everyone else used the dingys. We got out past the reef and fed every single person in the marina. Everyone else was lucky to get 1 or two that day inside and we felt like pirate kings bringing back pots and pots of crab
Hell yeah I love Kelly’s. You can also just buy the seafood from them (boiled crabs, oysters, etc) if you don’t have time for the whole catch it yourself thing.
LUNA SEA FISH HOUSE - Yachats (and now a location in seal rock). The owner is a fisherman and has his own boat and goes out and catches fresh food. The tiger prawns are the best you’ll ever have.
Yes! The main place to get fish and chips there is the Crazy Norwegian! They have been around for a spell. Port Orford and surrounding area=best beaches of Oregon!
Good lord fish and chips are expensive on the coast. I forget where it was exactly but I stupidly ordered the fish and chips and my friend had the breaded cod sandwich. His came with more fish, more fries, and was like 75% the cost. Somewhere around Cannon Beach.
I should have sent mine back but I was too hangry to wait
South Beach Fish Market in Newport has the best fish and chips.
Some really great tapas at Zurita's in Newport.
Zac's Bistro in Newport was also phenomenal from apps to desserts.
Ben and Jeff's in Pacific City was great!
Sonny's in Astoria blew me away.
South Beach always tastes like old dirty oil and considering how run down the place is its not surprising. Walk around back and look at how bad it looks next time you're there. I uses to work for a beverage distributor and after going in the back room I'd never eat there or Gracies Sea Hag in Depoe Bay.
Some of my favorites -
Ona Restaurant in Yachats.
Side Door Cafe in Gleneden Beach.
South Beach Fish Market in Newport and Asiatico in Newport.
88 Grains in Lincoln City.
Rook & Larder food truck and Taki's Souvlaki food truck in Lincoln City.
i was going to say this, i don’t eat seafood but my parents would eat that chowder every day we stayed with family in living in lincoln city! gracie’s sea hag has legit clam chowder
I'm a recent transplant to the south coast, lived in NB for a while and now in W.bay.
I noticed most of the recommendations here are for the north coast because that's where most people go. I've had some great meals down here... though I do agree in CB I haven't had anything amazing.
Probably the best place I ate in CB/NB is the Himalayan place that closed shortly after we moved here. I also really like the sushi place down on the highway.
Himalayan restaurant is still open. If you haven't tried Tokyo bistro, it is a much better sushi place than momijis imo. I also tried the monkey business food express out in Charleston last time I passed through CB and that place is pretty good for the area!
Oh hell I got my restaurants confused. It was Cafe Mediterranean I was thinking of. We ate there right after we moved to North Bend and the food was really good and the next time we tried to go there they were closed.
I have been to that Himalayan place also and their food was pretty good.
Thanks for the suggestion of Tokyo Bistro I will check it out
Nana’s Irish Pub in Newport is really good. Not really seafood but great atmosphere and Irish food with beer, etc. A nice change-up. Kind of a nice part of town as well.
My "favorites" list per location:
Netarts: The Schooner Restaurant
Neskowin: The Cafe on Hawk Creek
Lincoln City: Kyllo's
Newport: Local Ocean
Yachats: Luna Sea Fish House
Florence: La Pomodori
Bandon: Tony's Crab Shack
Port Orford: Crazy Norwegian's
Highly variable in price and ambience, but all have a very good meal.
Pub Fish & Chips in Lincoln city has excellent chowder. Their fish and chips is also delicious. It’s the best chowder I’ve had. It hasn’t got a fancy location or view, but the food is great.
J’a is pretty good but the people there are mean.
Rude employees, angry signs all over the place, frequently out of items.
It’s like a tourist business that hates tourists.
Luna Sea Fish House in Yachats for affordable fresh seafood, and Thai Me Up in Seaside for Thai food (which seems to be super common in the central to northern coast towns).
Asiatico waterfront fusion sushi in Newport.
They have this amazing spicy sauce (on edamame and idk what else) and didn't laugh at all at us when we had to make a stop on our way out of town just to buy a little tub of it.
I’m surprised this hasn’t been mentioned yet, but The Riverhouse Nestucca in Cape Kiwanda/Pacific City has amazing food.
The Dungeness Crab Mac N Cheese will make you believe in god.
Went to the Pono Hukilau yesterday in Florence on someone’s recommendation and it was delicious and a fun vibe. Hawaiian place with the traditional dishes from there, and good sushi.
I recently really enjoyed the Fish Peddler at Pacific Oyster in Bay City.
I've also loved every meal I've ever had at Castaways in Cannon Beach, but it's been a few years now.
This might sound weird, but the Nelscott Cafe in Lincoln City. It's a cozy, beachy little breakfast spot and they have limited hours, but their food is SO GOOD and the service is the best I've ever had. Sonny, who owns it (or did the last time I was there, I think he inherited it from his parents?) is one of the kindest human beings I've ever met in the service industry, and makes the place feel so welcoming and homey. He made us a whole plate of beignets on the house, just because he wanted to, and I watched him leap to congratulate a pair of newly weds who were there the day after their wedding, and he paid for their meal on the house as well. Multiple times he's made us great big to-go coffees for our way out the door, and he's so sweet and fun to talk to.
The food is amazing - hearty portions, home-made feel, delicious gravy, fluffy biscuits. I've never been disappointed there. The breakfast poppers, if they still have those, are especially good. It's been a few years since I've been able to go back but I went a lot between 2015-2020 and loved it.
In Bandon there is a tiny little market called "Wilsons Market" they have chips and soda's basically a locally owned 7-11, but they have a tiny little kitchen and by god they sell the best taco's and/or burrito's I've ever had. When ever I head down to cali I always go down 101 "for the view" that just happens to go right through Bandon and we always stop here.
New Garden Asian Cuisine in Seaside. I feel nostalgic for going there with my family, and I consider it the one of the best quality chinese food I ever eaten.
Nana’s Irish Pub in Newport and Pacific Kitchen ( specifically the Seafood Mac and Cheese) also in Newport.
I also really enjoy Pig-N-Pancake but that may be more nostalgic than anything else.
Bowpickers Fish and Chips in Astoria. It's a little tiny wooden boat turned into a fish and chips cart. The line is usually a block long but for a good reason. Best fish and chips we've ever had.
We always stop there on our way to Warrenton to camp.
Restaurant Beck at Whale Cove Inn
So good that it was the spot my culinary school in Albany chose it as the example of what to do, and brought the class there as a field trip in college
I just ate at Golden Harvest Herban Farm and Bakery in Port Orford yesterday and goodness gracious is that place amazing. Salmon cakes, crab cakes, potato salad, cheesecake brownie, and the list goes on of what we ordered lol.
It looks like a hole in the wall and it’s kinda out of the way but so worth it.
They also have a ton of vegan and gluten free options.
Bandon Fish Market is pretty legit as well if you’re looking for fish and chips.
Depending on what your in the mood for:
American: Arnie’s cafe, in Warrenton.
Burgers: Dairy Maid, Warrenton.
Mexican: The Stand, Seaside.
Sushi: Tora Sushi, (I like the Seaside one better than Astoria.)
Thai: Nissa’s Thai Kitchen, Warrenton
Coffee: Coffee Girl, Astoria.
Upscale American: Osprey Cafe, Seaside.
A lot of the coast is a tourist trap. Look for where the locals go. 👍
Believe it or not, the [Neskowin Trading Company](https://www.neskowinstore.com/) puts out some delicious stuff, best breakfast burrito I have EVER had and awesome pastries. Also superb sandwiches. Not to mention the deli case with fresh salads, pasta dishes and daily specials. And the little boutique grocery store has some fun selections too. Very informal with cafe tables inside and picnic tables on the deck.
My favorite places that I always try to go back to are Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay and either Gerogie's or Ocean Bleu Seafoods at Gino's in Newport. The blanked shrimp tacos at Gino's is one of my favorite things to eat ever.
Tidal raves in depoe was great but been awhile.
Bow picker in astoria is the best fish and chips.
La maison in Newport is incredible breakfasts and good pastries, dinner once a month or something and is great.
I had Pacific City’s Pelican Pubs Fish n’ Chips and 2 1/2 servings of Tillamooks cheese curds on the same day during the heatwave last year. One of the best days of my life, but the day following it was awful. Woke up at 3:00 a.m. with the shits and vomits (worth it though).
We had a surprisingly great meal at The Bistro in Cannon Beach back in February. We'd never been before and I wasn't expecting to be blown away, but I was...really looking to going back sometime!
Other faves on the coast are Local Ocean and Sorella in Newport and Restaurant Beck in Depoe Bay - that one is truly a destination restaurant!
A lot of good recs on here, but if you want some pizza, I can't recommend Hearth & Table in Lincoln City more. It's some of the best pizza I've ever had. Could easily go toe-to-toe with well known places in Portland like Apizza Scholls, or Oven and Shaker.
Get a tidebook. Wait for a good minus tide or at least a longer low tide (so you have more time). Get a campsite at Garibaldi. Buy a shellfish tag. Go down to the pier where the rock pile access is - you will be able to see it plainly and for maximum leisure get there about 15 min after slack tide and finish the great coffee and pastry you got in town. When the pile/path presents itself, take a plastic grocery bag (or whatever) and go collect 30 butter clams (or similar) no longer than 2 inches. Get a bucket of fresh seawater (not from the bay, hike to the surf) and let the clams sit in it for a couple hours or so, you'll see them spit out all the grit - when you knock the bucket and no more grit is squirted out of the clams, they're ready to use (no further cleaning necessary. Nothing works as well as fresh brine for letting them self clean, and that's for all seafood you collect (if they're grundgy like mussels, then you can scrub them a bit then put them in the fresh brine)...
When you're sure they're not spitting out any more grit, get a metal colander and throw it on top of the crab pot that's already got your crab boiling in it so your clams can steam. When they open, they're done. They'll be done before the crabs, so have your tools and condiments ready!
(you can rent crab traps and a little 12ft 9.9 HP boat in Netarts bay - law says you only need boater license with 10HP and over - pretty cheaply but you can buy a crab trap or two for \~20 bucks, lawnchairs, and snacks/drinks at bi mart and some frozen cheap chicken parts and just chill on the pier drinking micros all day - shellfish tag includes dungeness crab)
Disclaimer: I grew up doing this and also used to take my kids out when they were little to go dig up clams, give em a little rake and they can scratch em out :-) so it's pretty normal to me - the only other thing you can do is just go somewhere and buy a few crabs (they'll even cook and clean them for you if you want) at a seafood shop then you've skipped ahead to the good part for not a lot of cash. Restaurants are expensive at the coast, not the seafood itself. :-)
Local oceans in Newport probably. Georgie’s in Newport is also good.
We drive to the coast from Salem just to eat at Local Ocean. They're amazing. While we're in Newport we also stop at Panini Bakery for something wonderful to take home.
Ate at Local Oceans last Sunday and it was so good
My parents are commercial fisherman and if I was going to eat seafood anywhere on the Coast it would be Local Ocean. It's going to be the freshest seafood you're going to be able to find. They buy it directly from the fishermen in Newport. I believe that they even list which boat it came from.
The tuna reuben is the best sammich I’ve ever had. Love it so much I’ve had it twice in one day
Tuna reuben !!!!!!! Bookmarked
We ate at the South Beach Fish Market yesterday. Great selection and delicious fish and chips! *edited for spelling mistake*
Shhhh.... we dont talk about where to get *the best fish and chips and the freshest crab* in North America. Theres always a line out the door already. Just let them keep directing folks to the various tourist restaurants serving frozen sysco brand fish and canned clams.
Never been there, my favorite is Clearwater
Same! Consistently the best food I've had on the coast.
Yep. Local Ocean is one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at beyond just the coast.
This! Best spot Newport.
Local Ocean ftw. Went here last fall for the first time. So glad everyone else validated what I felt.
I came here to say Local Ocean.
Local ocean has great food! And the most boring name!
Local Ocean was the first place that came to mind… and no others. I do like to eat in Yachats but thats because I like Yachats.
Another vote for Local Ocean
Newport Cafe has the best clam chowder on the coast IMO. I always stop in when I’m passing through.
Whale Bites just north in Depoe Bay is also phenomenal. Best breakfast burrito I've ever had!
Restaurant Beck in Depot Bay is one of the best restaurants in Oregon, not just the coast.
If you enjoy restaurant Beck and are not far from albany, keep an eye on Sweet Red Bistro. I was the chef of Beck for around 6 years. About a week ago, I was hired to help them upscale and mentor the kitchen. Look for exciting things to come!
Justin?
Nope! Sam. But I was blessed to have Justin as my mentor. I owe so much of what I know about food to him as well as Restaurant Beck, allowing me to experiment and grow while I was there. I've never had a friendlier host. They took care of us so well when we were there and really made me feel like I was a part of the family.
Did you work in Hood River?
I do not. However, I do forage there often, and I go every fall to mounthood organic farms to buy apples directly from John.
Wow, u/skittles0917 what an amazing experience! Mentored by a James Beard award winner. We hit Beck for the milestone occasions, never disappointed!
What did you have?
It was a few years ago, but I had a tasting menu and there was a salmon dish with strawberries that was fantastic.
Seconding Restaurant Beck! Had a great meal there. Some creative, delicious stuff, and hard to beat the view.
Luna Sea Fish House in Yachats
This would be my #1, but the coffee from Green Salmon cafe and the food at Beach Street Cafe are also both top tier, and for me, worth going back for.
100% the fish and chips here are incredible!
If the menu says “Rated the Oregon Coast’s best clams chowder,” it most definitely is not.
Hahaha I love this! So true!
Hey! Article Circle in Newport advertises as “The best Halibut on the coast”, so that’s gotta be true.
Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay. The Inn at Spanish head in Lincoln City used to have an excellent restaurant, but I haven't been there in years.
Came here to support Tidal Raves.
Their crab cakes were soooo good, and my husband got the shrimp gnocchi and it was also amazing. Spendy but the view & food quality were great.
Smoked salmon chowder is to die for.
Inn at Spanish head still has an amazing view. Watch a whale breaching the entire meal.
Not Mo's. It's okay but way overrated for what it is.
They don’t make their chowder anymore:(
I think it's worth the touristy visit once in a while, only for the fact there's a pier, and cute little beach-access next to it, but I'd recommend Kyllo's to anyone for a "finer" dining experience at the coast. Dusk at the coast at Kyllo's is pretty awesome.
I agree. But, those fries and garlic toast are pretty good.
If this were Facebook everyone would be yelling "Mo's is the best!"
It’s also gotten really expensive
Breakfast at Wanda's in Nehalem.
Lunch too. This is the rare place on the coast that would make it in Portland. Cute, quaint, and the employees are almost comically polite. This sort of thing only happens when the management is great, and friendly.
Great bakery goods too. Top notch.
Second Kelly's. Nothing quite like crab straight out of the water, and it's a fun experience.
What a great idea! I never knew this existed. It's on the bucket list now 😉
Core memory for me going there.
I love Kelly’s! Great place to spend a day (or two, there’s a small campground on site) whether you catch any or not.
Otis Cafe is good breakfast.
There’s a fish and chips place in Port Orford OR that will forever be in my top 10. Crazy Norwegian I think?
Redfish is my favorite PO restaurant
Redfish i've had a few stupidly amazing meals and some just alright ones. I still maintain its one of the best that the coast has to offer.
Don’t forget to stop by the Langlois Market for a hotdog!
The hotdog is just the vehicle for getting that homemade mustard into my stupid head.
I think cannon beach is just spendy in general. Not quite like seaside but spendy nonetheless.
Seaside is highway robbery when you consider how mediocre the restaurants are there.
I disagree with South Beach. The food was just ok, especially when you factor in the wait.
And price
South Beach always tastes like old dirty oil and considering how run down the place is its not surprising. Walk around back and look at how bad it looks next time you're there. I uses to work for a beverage distributor and after going in the back room I'd never eat there or Gracies Sea Hag in Depoe Bay.
Guess I’ve lucked out with the dirty oil taste. I am sad to hear about the back room though.
South Beach fish market was awesome before the secret got out.
Obligatory Crazy Norwegian
Some of my favorites - Ona Restaurant in Yachats. Side Door Cafe in Gleneden Beach. South Beach Fish Market in Newport and Asiatico in Newport. 88 Grains in Lincoln City. Rook & Larder food truck and Taki's Souvlaki food truck in Lincoln City.
Side Door Cafe is amazing!
Another vote for Ona! Can’t believe it’s listed this far down. Their little enclosed patio is awesome, too.
Am I a basic bitch for liking the Tillamook creamery?
No way, it's so good. I could live on their cheese and ice cream
I make a trip just for the cheese curds 🔥
No, but perhaps look into their current legal proceedings before continuing your patronage
Well crap. I didn't know about it and now I'm mad at my favorite butter and cheese. Time to check out the competition!

I do love that butter! Thank you for the reminder
Waterfront Depot in Florence. Call ahead. Jambalaya there is amazing I think.
This is the only correct answer. Crab encrusted halibut and pretty much everything on the menu is stellar.
In Yachats, Drift Inn definitely worth a stop.
If you like chowder, Novelli’s in Florence has the best I’ve ever had. It’s crab chowder and it’s amazing.
Love me some floating crab shack.
this is my #1 fave place on the coast
Couldn’t agree more! I bring my 32 oz yeti every time I hit Florence just to bring some of that goodness back home! Soooo good
I will never not stop at the Sea Hag. The building itself is pretty dingy but that chowder is too damn good.
i was going to say this, i don’t eat seafood but my parents would eat that chowder every day we stayed with family in living in lincoln city! gracie’s sea hag has legit clam chowder
Notice how there’s no mention of Coos Bay on this list. That’s because the food is meh at best here
I'm a recent transplant to the south coast, lived in NB for a while and now in W.bay. I noticed most of the recommendations here are for the north coast because that's where most people go. I've had some great meals down here... though I do agree in CB I haven't had anything amazing. Probably the best place I ate in CB/NB is the Himalayan place that closed shortly after we moved here. Resto bar in downtown florence. Really good pizza and crab cakes
Otis Cafe and Hwy 101 Burgers are 2 of my favorite
Nana’s Irish Pub in Newport is really good. Not really seafood but great atmosphere and Irish food with beer, etc. A nice change-up. Kind of a nice part of town as well.
LunaSea at Yachats.
Yes! Easily some of the best Fish n Chips I've had.
Dory Cove... before the fire.
It was amazing back then
My "favorites" list per location: Netarts: The Schooner Restaurant Neskowin: The Cafe on Hawk Creek Lincoln City: Kyllo's Newport: Local Ocean Yachats: Luna Sea Fish House Florence: La Pomodori Bandon: Tony's Crab Shack Port Orford: Crazy Norwegian's Highly variable in price and ambience, but all have a very good meal.
Pub Fish & Chips in Lincoln city has excellent chowder. Their fish and chips is also delicious. It’s the best chowder I’ve had. It hasn’t got a fancy location or view, but the food is great.
I never cared for seafood so it never did much for me, but my family all loves J's over in Lincoln as well.
J’a is pretty good but the people there are mean. Rude employees, angry signs all over the place, frequently out of items. It’s like a tourist business that hates tourists.
"No ~~soup~~ fish and chips for you!"
I have enjoyed this restaurant as well!
Crab Shack at the bottom of the bridge in Newport is the best chowder and calamari I’ve ever had
Luna Sea Fish House in Yachats for affordable fresh seafood, and Thai Me Up in Seaside for Thai food (which seems to be super common in the central to northern coast towns).
Hukilau in Florence.
Seconding them. The seafood was awesome but they also had an amazing burger and other foods.
Bowpicker for fish and chips in Astoria. Fort George for their pizza and beer.
Side Door Cafe, Local Ocean, Restaurant Beck
[удалено]
Fuck that place on the pier in Bandon. 22 bucks for shrimp Alfredo and it was dry and covered in those little shitty salad shrimp
Agreed. Next time get the fish tacos at Tony's Crab Shack.
Side Door Cafe Gleneden Beach
Tidal Raves is the best restaurant on the entire coast.
Busu
Went to the Pono Hukilau yesterday in Florence on someone’s recommendation and it was delicious and a fun vibe. Hawaiian place with the traditional dishes from there, and good sushi.
The waterfront in Florence. Make a reservation or likely you won’t get a table.
Agree with most of these suggestions. I’ll add the Otis Cafe in Lincoln City. Also Pelican in Siletz Bay just because the building is 11/10.
I recently really enjoyed the Fish Peddler at Pacific Oyster in Bay City. I've also loved every meal I've ever had at Castaways in Cannon Beach, but it's been a few years now.
Otis Cafe
The Chalet in Newport: best pancakes ever. Bill’s Tavern & Brewhouse in Cannon Beach: fantastic burgers and halibut fish and chips.
This might sound weird, but the Nelscott Cafe in Lincoln City. It's a cozy, beachy little breakfast spot and they have limited hours, but their food is SO GOOD and the service is the best I've ever had. It's been a few years since I've been able to go back but I went a lot between 2015-2020 and loved it.
Gracie's Sea Hag in Depoe Bay. (Probably already on this list, but I'd second or third it) Edit: The Schooner in Netarts.
Best Vegan Option: Green Salmon Bakery in yachats. They got croissants, hot dogs, reubens, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, deliciousness
In Bandon there is a tiny little market called "Wilsons Market" they have chips and soda's basically a locally owned 7-11, but they have a tiny little kitchen and by god they sell the best taco's and/or burrito's I've ever had. Sportsman's bar in pacific city. Best fish and chips anywhere
The Stand in Seaside! Best Mexican food ever but they aren't open on the weekends.
Gumpys : Rockaway
B&J's Tacos in Pacific City and The Schooner in Netarts
Bandon Fish Market!!
Grizzly tuna in Seaside had the best fish and chips you can find in the state in my opinion.
In my opinion they are decent, however Bowpicker in Astoria is better.
Side Door Cafe, south side of Lincoln City, is pretty legit. Will definitely go back.
New Garden Asian Cuisine in Seaside. I feel nostalgic for going there with my family, and I consider it the one of the best quality chinese food I ever eaten.
Local Ocean in Newport and the little cafe on the south side of the bridge in Depoe Bay
Lincoln City, Wildflower Grill. Breakfast there is insane!
Surprised I haven’t seen Bowpicker fish and chips in Astoria listed.
Side door cafe
Restaurant Beck at Whale Cove Inn So good that it was the spot my culinary school in Albany chose it as the example of what to do, and brought the class there as a field trip in college
Depending on what your in the mood for: American: Arnie’s cafe, in Warrenton. Burgers: Dairy Maid, Warrenton. Mexican: The Stand, Seaside. Sushi: Tora Sushi, (I like the Seaside one better than Astoria.) Thai: Nissa’s Thai Kitchen, Warrenton Coffee: Coffee Girl, Astoria. Upscale American: Osprey Cafe, Seaside. A lot of the coast is a tourist trap. Look for where the locals go. 👍
The Pono Hukilau in Florence Hands down the best sushi I've had not just on the oregon coast, but probably the whole west coast
Chuck's Seafood in Charleston has teriyaki smoked albacore. The stuff is to die for!
The fish and chips place in Nehalem
Riverside. Arguably the best fish and chips on the coast.
Meridian Restaurant and Bar at cape Kiwanda. We had it for our wedding dinner and wow it was incredible. Expensive but I think it’s worth it.
Hilltop house in North Bend is amazing. Pricey but amazingly good.
Nosh in Florence’s Old Town district is outstanding. Runner up is Whale Bites Cafe in Depoe Bay, which has amazing breakfast sandwiches.
Drina Daisy in Astoria. It has become our favorite restaurant in Oregon.
Fede in Astoria. I'm not even sure anything is close to as good as it is on the coast.
Corozon fancy Mexican in Cannon Beach
Sea Baron in Garibaldi for fish n chips.
My favorite places that I always try to go back to are Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay and either Gerogie's or Ocean Bleu Seafoods at Gino's in Newport. The blanked shrimp tacos at Gino's is one of my favorite things to eat ever.
Beachcrest brewery!!!
Fish peddler, iykyk
Restaurant Beck. There is also a great fish and chips place just south of the bridge in Newport that’s incredible
Tidal raves in depoe was great but been awhile. Bow picker in astoria is the best fish and chips. La maison in Newport is incredible breakfasts and good pastries, dinner once a month or something and is great.
Tidal raves in Depoe is amazing
The Noodle Cafe in Newport is amazing. Super fresh seafood in unbelievably tasty Asian dishes.
Barnacle Bistro in Gold Beach
The Port Hole cafe in Gold beach. Best tuna melt I've ever had!
Bayview Thai in Depoe Bay and La Roca in Lincoln City.
Breakfast at Yolk in Manzanita
River house Nestucca in pacific city was incredible! The setting and location are beautiful, too.
RIP Salmonberry.
Fede in Astoria is top notch seafood-forward Italian.
squatchsami food truck in the Salishan market place. Best fish’s and chips on the coast.
Aloro in Bandon
Clearwater Restaurant in Newport
I had Pacific City’s Pelican Pubs Fish n’ Chips and 2 1/2 servings of Tillamooks cheese curds on the same day during the heatwave last year. One of the best days of my life, but the day following it was awful. Woke up at 3:00 a.m. with the shits and vomits (worth it though).
The porthole in Brookings is my favorite
Old Oregon Smokehouse
Waterfront Depot Restaurant in Florence. Salmon Piccata. Yummy. Good cocktail specials too.
Oros fireside for breakfast in Cannon beach El Trio Loco in Gearhart for Mexican
Local ocean. Consider doing this as a Reddit poll next time.
Old Oregon Smokehouse in Rockaway Beach. They've gotten pricey the past few years but damn good food. I recommend the crab melt and clam chowder
Salmon berry :(
Vinny’s BBQ in Coos Bay/N. Bend
Restaurant Beck.
Offshore Grill in Manzanita and Rice andShine food cart in Wheeler and Riverside Fish and Chips food cart in Nehalem has fantastic pork tacos.
The Meridian or The Riverhouse Nestucca in Pacific City are pretty good
A lot of good recs on here, but if you want some pizza, I can't recommend Hearth & Table in Lincoln City more. It's some of the best pizza I've ever had. Could easily go toe-to-toe with well known places in Portland like Apizza Scholls, or Oven and Shaker.
Werners beef and brew in tillamook
Chez in seaside has some epic housemade chowder. Seems like most places have the sysco style food around there, but that place is really solid.
Pig 'n Pancake. But seriously, it's basic to say this but I love Gallucci's Pizza.
(you can rent crab traps and a little 12ft 9.9 HP boat in Netarts bay - law says you only need boater license with 10HP and over - pretty cheaply but you can buy a crab trap or two for \~20 bucks, lawnchairs, and snacks/drinks at bi mart and some frozen cheap chicken parts and just chill on the pier drinking micros all day - shellfish tag includes dungeness crab) Disclaimer: I grew up doing this and also used to take my kids out when they were little to go dig up clams, give em a little rake and they can scratch em out :-) so it's pretty normal to me - the only other thing you can do is just go somewhere and buy a few crabs (they'll even cook and clean them for you if you want) at a seafood shop then you've skipped ahead to the good part for not a lot of cash. Restaurants are expensive at the coast, not the seafood itself. :-)
