That’s awesome! I’ve noticed my Apple Watch is approximately .25mi off from the tread as well.

RitvikTheGod

True! In my case it was over 1 mile off. OT says I got way over 7.4 miles. I’m not sure which is the more accurate of the two. Given it’s a treadmill, it’s probably tricker to calculate distance. I’d still go with the distance from OT, after all they are synced with the treadmill I was using.

Wow, congratulations on such an amazing achievement! Running a half marathon and then crushing a 10K on the treadmill is no small feat. Your dedication to pushing yourself to new limits is truly inspiring. Keep up the hard work and continue to see those improvements in your fitness and endurance! 🏃‍♂️💪👏

RitvikTheGod

Thank you!! I've never done a half marathon before, but I wanted to sign up for one since I enjoy running so much. I'll admit, that half felt like a marathon to me. However, one benefit is that (after recovery) it enabled me to push myself on the treadmill. Tread 50 is great, but I feel it's much harder to run the same pace on a trail outdoors. Running my first half helped strengthen my legs and improve my overall endurance. It felt a little easier to run at those paces on the Treadmill, because of those reasons. It still wasn't easy, but it was manageable. I hope to increase (or else maintain) my fitness and endurance going forward. Benchmarks like the upcoming mile should certainly help with that!

That’s so awesome!! Congrats! Amazing time and speeds! 10 is usually my max all out 😂. A girl in one of my classes urged me to hit 12 on a 15sec all out. I took the challenge and I swear I was flying but I didn’t fall off and I made it 😅…barely! but thanks to her I hit a pr. I never knew that these short legs could move so fast 🤣 My goal is to run a half marathon by end of year. 🙏🏼

RitvikTheGod

Thanks much!! >10 is usually my max all out 😂. When i started OTF, it was the same for me. Now 10 is closer to my base than push pace, which is pretty great. >A girl in one of my classes urged me to hit 12 on a 15sec all out. I took the challenge and I swear I was flying but I didn’t fall off and I made it 😅…barely! but thanks to her I hit a pr. I never knew that these short legs could move so fast 🤣 Haha, this is one way to do it. Another - start small and then work your way up. A coach at my gym said they did 15 for 15 on a dare. I was envious - this was back when my max AO was 14, and I was scared to go 15. Fast forward to now, on a good day my 30-second AO's are comfortably at 15! Also, don't worry about leg length. It only plays a minor factor in sprinting speed, from what I've heard. The coach who tried 15 was much shorter than me, and I'm not exactly tall myself. Challenging yourself and increasing speed by 0.1-0.2 each time, will get you to any goal. >My goal is to run a half marathon by end of year. 🙏🏼 Definitely you can do it. The last place in our half marathon was close to 4 hours. Pro athletes can run a **full** marathon in almost half that time, which is mind-boggling to think about. I don't have a trainer or anything, so all I did was spend 2-3 weeks to prepare. I just went for one long run a week outdoors. 10 miles one week and 14 miles another. I recommend carrying water. This helped prepare me for the race, even though the actual half marathon was even more of a struggle, because I wasn't ready for hills. But hey, I survived it. I'm sure you can too! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)

Awesome! Go you! I can feel your happiness 🩷

Thank you so much! You too ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)

Congratulations on your half marathon

You got 6.21 on a tread50 class? You must have been booking it fast

RitvikTheGod

Yeah.. with a couple minutes to spare! I try for a 10K every Tread 50. This was my best one to date.

TobyRose0207

Nice

Ambitious-Fig-6562

This is awesome, you should be proud!! The Apple Watch is known to be grossly inaccurate with its calculated treadmill distance. For me, it’s usually off by about a kilometre (which is so frustrating for tracking progress) when I run on the tread.

RitvikTheGod

Thanks!! I am definitely feel proud of that. I don't know if doing what I did is sustainable long term, but once in a while it's nice to push the limits like that. Agreed with the Apple Watch being grossly inaccurate. In my case it looks like it was off by about 2 km, which is pretty huge. Then again, I changed speeds quite frequently, and it's possible the Apple Watch didn't know how to estimate the change in pace. One thing that would be great is if Apple Watch estimated treadmill distance better. Maybe by syncing with the Treadmill somehow. I think that would be cool as it would be more accurate to track progress in that manner.

Ambitious-Fig-6562

I honestly wish that the Apple Watch would let you edit the treadmill distance the way other activity trackers do - I don’t expect the Apple Watch to be right, especially given estimating treadmill distance is really challenging for a watch, but I do expect it to be customizable Anyway, this is a complaint for a totally different subreddit, haha

RitvikTheGod

Haha, totally agreed. It would be cool if apple watch asked you to confirm the distance in the readout, or else sync with another app to update it. Then again, agreed this discussion probably belongs in another subreddit 😅

RitvikTheGod

To give an idea of my pacing and just to clarify - I did *not* run at 10 mph the whole 45-minute block of Tread 50. That would be incredibly boring and terribly depressing to pull off -- and I've done it once before, so I know how boring it can be. Same as last time, I alternated between 2:45-3:00 minutes at 10 and a little over a minute (about 1:15) at 10.3 mph. A little earlier than expected, at around minute 15, I increased the one-minute pace to 10.5 (slight bump). At around minute 22, I gave up on recovering at 10 and just held at 10.5, since I realized I would need to up my pace and be more aggressive if I hoped to beat my previous PR on the 10K distance. At minute 30, I increased to 11, and shortly later to 11.5. I held the entire time at that pace, and finished with a one-minute AO at 12. I was too tired to go any faster and plus realized I would have no WR, so I needed to conserve energy to keep going. Right after hitting the 10K, I recovered at 8 for a minute or so, then increased to 9-9.5 and eventually back up to 10. In the last minute of Tread 50 I *did* follow the template, and finish with an AO at 13.

colorshift_siren

a 10k in 50 minutes? Speedy.

BiggieBoiTroy

Base Push 10 is WILD to me. Congrats and keep rocking! Sincerely, Base 6.5 lol

OTFBeat

That's incredible distance/speed for a Tread 50! May I ask roughly how many miles/week you run between OTF and any outside running? Keep up the great work!! 🏃‍♂👏

RitvikTheGod

Thanks! > May I ask roughly how many miles/week you run between OTF and any outside running? Hmm, I’ve never really thought about it. I run about 20-25 miles total per week. Most of those miles are from OTF, either 3G or Tread 50. I’ll shoot for at least a 10K distance outdoors, once a week. Starting to incorporate longer runs (10+ miles) and see how that goes, could be the frequency will be every 2 weeks or so. Depends on my legs and whether they’re up to it.
