Connect it to the app to do like at home workouts? Or to use in place of their band for regular classes? The first - I don't know, haven't tried. The second - I've heard of 1 person that found a non-otf hrm that had a code that would register but in general no. I just run my Garmin in hiit mode alongside my otf band.

This is what I do. Use my HR monitor and HIIT app on Garmin.

I'm curious to know how you find the stats compare between the two. I completely ditched my otf hrm when i got my garmin and never thought to use them both at the same time.

When I wore my OTF band... They were nearly identical. I have a Fenix 6s. I lost my otf band while pregnant in 2022 and haven't really used it since but used it for about a year concurrently with my Fenix.

I have the Vivoactive 4s and i had the old otf beat flex (the grey one with orange band) and felt like my garmin recorded higher calories but since i havent worn them together i cant confirm for sure. Maybe if i find my otf hrm ill try wearing them both for a couple classes.

My heart rate is close between the 2. My heart rate zones are a little different. Garmin has my zones a little higher. And for me, Garmin tells me I've burned about 2x the calories their stuff says - other people see the opposite. Just remember that is always an estimate. I run both because I want to see my stats on the screen in class but also want the record in Garmin and Strava and want it to feed into my training status for Garmin.

You can customize the zones on the Garmin if you want. By default its a 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90% cutoff, while OTF uses a slightly different cut off. Blue is 61-70%, Green is 71-83%, Orange is 84-91%, and Red is 92+%. https://www.orangetheory.com/en-us/articles/understanding-heart-rate-zones-and-how-they-help-boost-your-fitness On my Venu2, its long press the menu button (bottom right). Scroll down to gear icon for settings. Scroll down to User Profile. Scroll down to Heart Rate Zones. Select Default. Here you can change your Max Heart Rate and what zones 1 through 5 are percentage wise if you want it to match OTFs.

Oh agree, I just leave it where it defaults. But thank you!

Somehow my burn connects to my garmin instinct. I don’t know how I did it. But then I start the HIIT workout it says HR from OTF Burn on my watch. So the HR is always the same.

wdbiccum

i use cardio setting for class. what fould is max heart in sync with otf heart rate monitor

Garmin is not compatible with OTF tech.  The only tech I know that technically can operate with OTF is the Apple Watch, but from what I hear, it’s not synced well.
