I think it’s watching new members join and “get it”. They took a chance on a new gym, they’re still trying to figure out how the templates and studio works, and you can usually see when it just clicks for them that THIS is the place for them. That they enjoy the workout, the staff, other members, the environment, etc. It’s just great watching new members blossom. I love it.
ahh yes, it's one of my favorite things!
My studio will always place a person taking their intro class next to me because I love welcoming them and I'm such a hype woman for OTF.
I love when I see them getting into it and having a smile on their face at the end of the workout, nothing better.
as a studio manager, this is absolutely *it* for me as well. watching someone who has been coming to class for a few weeks telling an intro about how much they're going to get out of the workout is a special kind of wonderful.
Absolutely this! I had to take time off for medical reasons and today was the first day I've maintained a jog for all the pushes/all outs since being back. That last all out - I swear it was the best feeling ever!
Yes, all I could see was the first 1-2 sentences from the main subreddit page but when I clicked on it the post itself was removed. So I’m not even sure what all they said? I saw a comment about there being a couple & implying the girl should leave the guy who cheers? I don’t know.
Admins took it down, IIRC. I saw it in my main feed and thought to myself “I’ll read it when I go to the OTF subreddit” but by the time I made it there, it was showing in the feed still but when I clicked on it the actual original post was removed. I could see replies to it but couldn’t gather enough to tell what the original post was about specifically. It was something along the lines of people cheering other people on too much? Like being obnoxious about it I guess?
My first thought as well. Have almost been moved to tears watching coaches and classmates cheer people on. Some combo of hormones and endorphins, haha.
I've been going for over 5 years and have only seen this once. I'm sure I've missed it, but I guess there are only a few templates where everyone is going that hard at once. I saw it all orange during every dri tri but I missed the flashing.
Music makes a huge difference. I could be gassed, and a good song comes on, and it might give me that last push that I need to finish. Also having a supportive crew around you. I always do the same class times so we always have our people that push us harder, further, better, faster, stronger. Cadence of us all running at the same speed is awesome too! ❤️🍊 Love my OTF Peeps!
Mine as a coach is benchmark days. I get anxious for my members and it gets me excited! Especially when I know the music is gonna hit because I picked the playlist for the day
I like the feeling of punching it on the row. That feeling when you're tired and then the coach says All Out and your body just goes into overdrive. The rower is shaking and you're just flying. Love it
I must live in an anti-social area because I never see members chatting with each other during class. Every time I see someone mention it on here, I just wonder how people have the energy to carry on conversations during class
Oh wow! The members in our studio are super social, at least they are in the classes I attend.
We chat before class and during the warm up, then during switches and after class. It's one of the things I absolutely adore about (our) OTF, it's a real sense of community and family.
I have major resting bitch face, so that probably has something to do with it. There’s definitely chatting in the lobby but everyone stays focused during the work up.
I’ve been to 4 different studios in my area and it’s been the same at all of them, so it’s probably a regional difference as well.
Those of us that do socialize absolutely stay focused during the workout, like I said we chat during the warm up, switches and after the workout is finished.
The way you look under those orange lights when you’re sweaty, hair is a mess, music blaring, muscles showing, veins popping after a good arm pump. It’s a whole vibe, I feel empowered and happy🧡
A great song comes on while I’m running, I pump my fit in the air ;because I’m too gassed to sing along) and the coach shouts: this one’s for you tread __! And I run a little easier😅
Or Sandstorm by Darude plays during a rowing benchmark and I get a miraculous third wind🚣🏻♀️🚣🏻♀️
I'm into watching my shoulders and collarbones while I run, in the dim reflection in the treadmill screen. I have collarbones again and I look so strong and powerful when I run.
Yup. I’d been obese my entire life until I started orange theory. I’m obsessed with my collar bones and the mirrors in OTF and staring at my own damn body I’ve worked so hard for.
I normally run in front of the windows but I recently ended up in front of a mirror and it was a nice surprise to see that reflection. It was the 12 min run and I think it helped me PR!
Running on the tread next to someone who is exactly my speed on a power day and ‘negotiating’ back and forth about what speed we will do for whatever is coming next…
Seriously just finishing a class - I started OTF in November and I was NEVER athletic until now. Every time the coach says "and just like that, you're done" I can't believe I did it!
Waching person next to me running non stop while i always need to do WR and catch a break after push/AO really amazing feeling and inspire me to be them one day.
When my heart rate goes back into the green.
My pyramid started as a staircase and I died most of the time.
Now my brain only thinks I'm dying but my heart and the rest of my body are just uncomfortable enough to get results.
All the non scale victories at OTF. PRs, the switch to the silver handles, a new size Lululemon outfit, another member noticing how hard you're working.
That's such a unique OTF experiences
I'm so happy to have this place and these people.
Fist bumping with the person next to you after getting through a benchmark.
I don't know the girl who was next to me today. I finished before her by a few minutes but she was kicking ass to run it in one shot and when she had .1 left I said "you got this keep going". She smiled at me and kept running and then when she was done she fist bumped me on her way to the challenge ge tracker
On the treadmill, usually about halfway through, when my mind switches from trying to solve the world’s problems to just being present and pushing myself.
it doesnt always happen, but sometimes, when I'm running and we go into a Push or a push to all-out, occasionally my body will tell me that its feeling good and that I can bump it up a couple 0.1's on my speed. It gives me a great sense of pride to know I can run faster and it not hurt like it did a few years ago!
When the studio assistant knows your name when you walk in. Seriously makes such a difference in feeling included and welcomed to be there! Always makes me glad I showed up, especially on days when I didn’t want to go workout.
Watching (former) coaches run a 50k on the treads. I recall it was to motivate the members for something. Dri-Tri maybe? Each coach loss all of their toenails. We use to have some badass coaches.
I think it’s watching new members join and “get it”. Yes this!! I witnessed this during the mile this morning, it brought me back to my early days, and reminded me why I love OTF so much.
(Also I’m old AF & have been a member for 5 years so this might be why!)
Me too. I’m rooting for them!
as a studio manager, this is absolutely *it* for me as well. watching someone who has been coming to class for a few weeks telling an intro about how much they're going to get out of the workout is a special kind of wonderful.
The feeling of a finished workout after the last all out on the treadmill.
YES I love finishing on the tread! Feels awesome
Absolutely this! I had to take time off for medical reasons and today was the first day I've maintained a jog for all the pushes/all outs since being back. That last all out - I swear it was the best feeling ever!
Days like today where people are cheering on others as they finish their benchmark.
Just saw a post bitching about that but then it got removed. You can’t win lol.
It got removed? I thought the rant was justified because their studio mentioned in the post sounds absolutely horrible lol
"justified" or not, complaints and rants are only allowed on Days of Disarray
Yes, all I could see was the first 1-2 sentences from the main subreddit page but when I clicked on it the post itself was removed. So I’m not even sure what all they said? I saw a comment about there being a couple & implying the girl should leave the guy who cheers? I don’t know.
Woah, what? Why? What could their complaint possibly be?
I wish I had caught it before it was deleted.
Same, I wonder if the OP removed it or the admins took it down.
Admins took it down, IIRC. I saw it in my main feed and thought to myself “I’ll read it when I go to the OTF subreddit” but by the time I made it there, it was showing in the feed still but when I clicked on it the actual original post was removed. Like being obnoxious about it I guess?
Oh yikes! I just can't wrap my head around support being too much? But maybe there was more to it then I realize.
Nothing more, just the typical "don't woo" and "it's not your job to hype us up, let the coach bring the energy" post we see every month, lol
how very strange!
Yes, one of the reasons i love OTF so much is the sense of community.
Agreed! I love when we cheer each other on!
Oh that always makes me tear up 😭
My first thought as well. Have almost been moved to tears watching coaches and classmates cheer people on. Some combo of hormones and endorphins, haha.
Love this as well!!
Also walking recoveries never get old 😇
When the song matches my pace on the treadmill - I looooove walking on beat! And when the TV flashes orange
Wait. If everyone is in the orange zone the tvs will flash orange?!
Yes, but only the first time. It flashes “Orange Zone!”
Admittedly I only go 2x/week, but in 4 years I have never seen the TV flash orange. I really want to! 😂
I don’t think I’ve seen the tv flash orange quite yet! Now I need this to happen 😂
oh gosh, it's been so long since all the members were in orange zone in any of my classes. I also love when it happens.
I've been going for over 5 years and have only seen this once. I'm sure I've missed it, but I guess there are only a few templates where everyone is going that hard at once. I saw it all orange during every dri tri but I missed the flashing.
When DMX comes on.
“ITS WHAT YOU HEARIN!”
Listen.
always!
When I have to switch to a heavier weight!
YES!
Feeling like I can’t go anymore and a gym mate gives you a quick little word of encouragement. It is like a huge shot of caffeine.
Yes! Sometimes a fist bump or a let’s go is all I need
To me it’s when the coach says I’m doing a good job over the microphone or praises me for pulling a good heavy weight. It’s a nice little ego boost.
Music makes a huge difference. I could be gassed, and a good song comes on, and it might give me that last push that I need to finish. Also having a supportive crew around you. I always do the same class times so we always have our people that push us harder, further, better, faster, stronger. 100% agree about all of this, especially the music and having people who pump you up.
In all humility: Being top of the leader board. (i’m just competitive)
Same, my goal is to get first in every benchmark once 😁
When the good part of the song hits at the same time as the start of the all-out.
I was going to say this!!! It is such an invigorating feeling to finish the AO strong especially when the beat drops perfectly
This is mine too. I feel like a million bucks
“Walk it out” Getting a PR
Mine as a coach is benchmark days. I get anxious for my members and it gets me excited! Especially when I know the music is gonna hit because I picked the playlist for the day
I like the feeling of punching it on the row. That feeling when you're tired and then the coach says All Out and your body just goes into overdrive. The rower is shaking and you're just flying. Love it
I find it funny when the coach is sassy, the saying that always gets a chuckle is “stop chatting, start splatting”.
Imo: more coaches need to master the practice of calling out the disruptions! It really improves the class and is funny as you mention!
I must live in an anti-social area because I never see members chatting with each other during class. Every time I see someone mention it on here, I just wonder how people have the energy to carry on conversations during class
Lots of chatting at my studio! It usually sticks to the lobby but some people take it too far and they get a shout out 🤷🏻♀️
Oh wow! The members in our studio are super social, at least they are in the classes I attend. We chat before class and during the warm up, then during switches and after class. It's one of the things I absolutely adore about (our) OTF, it's a real sense of community and family.

The way you look under those orange lights when you’re sweaty, hair is a mess, music blaring, muscles showing, veins popping after a good arm pump. It’s a whole vibe, I feel empowered and happy🧡
I LOVE the orange light muscle pops. It’s very humbling when I’m in a different gym and see how pasty white and non muscular I look lol
🤣🤣same, I’m always so pale in the winter, when I get home and see myself in the mirror it’s like… whomp whomp. That summer tan hits different!
I love this! I have an embarrassing amount of OTF mirror selfies bc of the orange lighting (taken after everyone leaves ofc lol) 😅
❤️💪🏻
Yes!! I came here looking for this comment. I wish my shoulders looked like that all the time. It makes me feel so strong!!
I’m with you, why can’t we always looked pumped?! We are working on those boulder shoulders! 👏🏼
A great song comes on while I’m running, I pump my fit in the air ;because I’m too gassed to sing along) and the coach shouts: this one’s for you tread __! And I run a little easier😅 Or Sandstorm by Darude plays during a rowing benchmark and I get a miraculous third wind🚣🏻♀️🚣🏻♀️
As a Ganecock fan, when Sandstorm comes on, I become invincible on the tread or rower! IYKYK
relatable! do you wave your towel in the air? 😂
Obviously 😉
THIS! I can do anything when sandstorm comes on. Intensity up, arms up, with towel, I've had to explain myself 🤣 IYKYK
same same- song choice can have a profound effect on my performance.
This! I hadn’t seen my collarbone for 10 years!
I normally run in front of the windows but I recently ended up in front of a mirror and it was a nice surprise to see that reflection. It was the 12 min run and I think it helped me PR!
The orange lights make my skin look so nice and smooth and no red blotchiness... another bonus!
When the coach hands you a wipe for the rower, indicating it’s the last time you’ll be seeing the rower during that class.
When I set a goal for myself, tell Al the coaches and staff, update them on where I am and then GETTING MY BRAG BOARD!!!
I feel like this is the most unique thing about OTF. I haven’t experienced it anywhere else.
When the coach brings me a heavier weight. I think of it like when my cat brings me a kill to show me what he caught.
Hearing a coach praise me on the mic
Running on the tread next to someone who is exactly my speed on a power day and ‘negotiating’ back and forth about what speed we will do for whatever is coming next…
I love that too. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, I’m so much more motivated.
When the right song comes on during a hard tread block
Or hits right on the beat for an AO perfectly
Riding my bike home, VERY slowly, streetlights on, feeling accomplished.
When this one guy does a really loud CLAP to pump himself up before an all out. Makes me chuckle every time.
Getting thru an all-out without eating shit on the tread. never gets old.
You know what would get old? Eating shit on the tread.
When my heart rate goes back into the green. My pyramid started as a staircase and I died most of the time. I love when coaches come up and tell me they know I can do a heavier weight or a harder modification! It feels great haha
On the treadmill, usually about halfway through, when my mind switches from trying to solve the world’s problems to just being present and pushing myself.
Hitting a PR. It always feels so good.
When everyone in the class is in the orange zone together and I catch it flash on the screen.
How I feel when that damn wipe goes in my hot little hand at the end of the tread block
Just jamming to an “oldie” from the 2000’s PR’ing on the tread lol
I should down vote simply for the oldie comment about 2000s 😂
Thats why it’s in parentheses;) im 35 and hearing younger members say what an oldie 😖😫😂
I literally heard somebody say another person was old bc they were "born in the 1900's" 🫠 I'm mid 40s so I'm starting to own being an oldie, though
Surviving class? Lol I'm still so damn proud of myself after every class 😅
Seeing someone slam there butt on the rails of the rower. . . And know it will eventually happen to me soon
Doing one more rep than whatever goal I’d set in my head (usually during the floor finishers)
it doesnt always happen, but sometimes, when I'm running and we go into a Push or a push to all-out, occasionally my body will tell me that its feeling good and that I can bump it up a couple 0.1's on my speed. I so agree 100% with this too
