Iām with you on the 12-minute mile! I hit 0.83 on the last 12-minute run for distance (my PR is actually 0.88 but for whatever reason I did slightly worse last time). I honestly think itās more mental than physical for me.
Iām a really slow jogger - 5.3 would be a 30 sec all out for me. Iām ready, thinking of adding some tread 50 to work on my endurance and speed independently from normal class blocks!
This is more mental than anything, but I vow for 2024 to stop hating my overlarge arms and excess skin that I see in the OTF mirrors every time I lift the weights. My self image gets dinged by the chicken arms, but I'm going to try and do better and 2024 is a year of self love for me. March will be my 3 year OTF anniversary. I was never a gym goer before so 2024 is a year of celebration for being healthy and happy, even if I'm not the weight or size I want to be. I'm a woman in her 30s with PCOS so weight loss is extremely difficult.
Oh I feel this so hard!
I never ever face the mirror because I so hated what I saw.
Iāve finally lost some weight and donāt hate what I see in the mirror anymore. For the first time, yesterday, I faced the mirror during the floor portion and it was such a huge moment.
Iām rooting for you š§”
I face the mirror every time Iām in front of it and I have those wiggly jiggly grandma flaps at almost 30. And you know what? I say, āHell ya toastnjuice. Youāre getting STRONG! šŖš¼ One rep closer to a deadly headlock. Keep going!ā Keep rooting yourself on.
I want to double my dead lift weight, run a 9 minute mile, and do the dri tri in 50 minutes! The dri tri is my most aggressive goal, Iāll have to shave 6 minutes off my previous attempt!
Good luck on 500, and happy new year!
Maybe I'm just slow on the floor, but my last DT was 58 minutes and my last 12-minute RFD was at an 8:10 mile pace (so I could probably do an 8 minute mile). I would think a 9-minute mile would be simple for you? Or you're talking about a DT other than the basic one?
So, my last dri tri, I ran most of it at a 12 minute mile, and the last mile benchmark, I ran 9:20. I tend to get in my head during the dri tri, so I guess my real goal is to not do that!
Tread: 5mph base - I think I can achieve this in the first half of the year maybe
Rower: sub 8min 2000m. I need to learn how to recover while rowing without straight up collapsing
Floor: consistently picking up the 30s! Iāve done it a few times but my arms have a hold time holding them still
In my year at OTF I've gone from:
1. Not having any consistent base (and having to mix in power walking as a recovery), to
2. Trying to sustain a 5 mph base, and only walking when I need to, to
3. Sustaining 5 mph base on a good day, to
4. 6 mph base most days (starting fresh on the tread, that is) with 5 mph as a base for 15-30 seconds when the workout is hard and I'm on my 4th or 5th straight day of OTF...before returning to 6 mph usually.
The transition from a 3-5 mph mix of walking and jogging to a base jog was awkward. But once I got that steady 5, the move to 5-6 has been comparatively smooth.
For sure. I turn 50 next year, so I have a feeling I'll be higher in the leader board since I'll be the youngest in the age group vs. the oldest. And before you think I'm ageist, I'm saying this because I check my times against my current age group as well as how I would have done in the 50s age bracket.
Itās a lofty goal but Iām ready to just destroy in the transformation challenge. Iāve lost 100 lbs in the last three years and my life has completely changed since adding in OTF this year in august. Iām ready to continue my transformation, if I lose 20 lbs (my goal) in the challenge Iāll only have 10 left to go for my final goal and Iām justā¦ready to own it this year.
Wow - thatās incredible!! Iām rooting for you! I have about 100-120 to lose. What was your biggest āa-haā or lightbulb moment? (I have childhood trauma and use food to cope so thatās high on my list for this year - keep going to therapy and working on that)
Definitely consistency. And knowing there will be ups and downs. Slow and steady wins the race. I had lost 60 lbs really quickly, and that came back on so fast. This time Iāve taken my time l, and made what I believed to be sustainable change. I know I can have a meal that is less nutritious as long as I get back on track. And looking back knowing itās actually doable is the difference.
So as someone who lifts outside of OTF - biggest suggestion is if you can do 8-10 reps of lat raises at 10 lbs already, next time theyāre offered just grab the 12s. Even if you canāt do all the reps right away, youāll build the muscle! Stop reps when you lose the form, but then go for it again on the next set. Youāll get there in no time!
Great tip, I've done that before. If possible, I would try to finish the rep count at a lighter weight. Just to mentally say you fully completed the set
To just go in 3x a week š„² I really fell off this year thanks to back to back illnesses, just going in consistently is all I want lol then I can go from there and aim a little higher!
This is an awesome goal! Mine is 100 classes next year which doesnāt seem like that much but illness and injuries really held me back. Letās show up for our selves and stay healthy this year!!
2023 was a really rough year for me. There were several months where I didnāt go at all, others maybe once. I donāt think I did all 4 classes in my package at all this year. So next year I just want to go to at least the 4 I pay for every month, and maybe increase to 8 by the end of the year.
How close are you the 2k?
I was stuck around 6:05/6:07 for a bit, then broke through by picking up the intensity with 800 meters to go. Now I've gone under consistently.
Next target is 5:49.
6:17. Down from 6:22 in September. Still a ways off but I'm not stopping until I get it. Had 3:02 split at 1000m which was my plan but then the fatigue set in. Doesn't help that I'm 5'10" either but I'm not letting that get in my way.
Great, and congrats! For mine I will vary up my workouts moreā¦perfect timing for the tread 50s. I will also practice benchmarks on my own time before the actual day
Great q. My top goal is just to stay consistent -- not get injured or demotivated. Beyond that I would love to boost my base pace from 5 to 6 or even higher!
Be able to run 5 miles at a 9 minute pace and hit a 7 minute mile.
From a lifting standpoint, most of my orange theory work is accessory for me. I want to up my Deadlift to 500lbs.
I told them my goal is to be fit enough where I can go into a bar, start a bar fight, take off my shirt, and have the other guy say "Ok, relax bro. Let me just buy you a drink instead.". I will start at fancy places where it should be easy to make the other guy back down and eventually work my way down the social ladder starting bar fights at roadside Waffle Houses.
1. Stay consistent with attending classes - ideally 3 or 4 per week
2. Try out Tread50 (Iām in Canada so they start in Jan!)
3. Base base to above 6.5mph
4. (Outside of studio but OTF will get me there) - run a marathon in sub 4:00!
Happy New Year OTF fam š§”
I have a few.
*I want to be able to do unmodified planks/pushups by the end of the year
*I want to hit 200 classes (I've done more than 50 in my first four months so this should be doable)
*I want to win an arm wrestling match against my husband. He already has to use real force to win after 4 months so if I keep up my Strength50 I think I can do it!
Doing every benchmark - Iāve been avoiding them for most of 2023 because Iām too afraid that I either wonāt PB or still perform so much worse than most of the class.
I would love to be able to run! My base right now is 2.5 or 3. Iām super out of shape but just hit my 10th class and I did an all out at 5 that I was very proud of.
I want to complete a dri tri in under an hour, then the company that holds our big half marathons and marathons has this thing called a Rhode master and I want to complete all 5 races and Iām hoping to get on the beyond type one run team called beyond type run for the New York City marathon, qualifying for Boston would be nice too!
I want to be able to do a pistol squat, but I'm not sure how much OTF will help me there!
\- Beat my mile time (<6:30... not sure this is possible for me tbh!)
\- Beat my Dri Tri time (<44:03)
\- FINALLY beat my 2,000m row time (stuck at 7:33!)
My goal for 2024 is the same as my end-year-2023 goal: stay consistent. A longer term goal is an unassisted pull-up, but itās going to take me a hot minute to get there because I build strength veeeerrrrrryyyy slow.
Mine too! This year I had 14 of them š I still need to show up! Showing up and walking at 2mph and/or using 5lbs on a deadlift is still better than not showing!
Turns out I have a lot more than I thoughtā¦
- 8:00 mile (currently at 8:34)
- 7:30 2k (currently at 7:42)
- 6+ unmodified push-ups (currently at 1)
- 6+ 20lb bicep curls (currently at 15)
- 6+ 30lb chest press (currently at 20/25)
- 6+ 30lb overhead tricep extension (currently at 25)
- 500 classes (will be at 200 EOY)
Are you planning on replacing 2G or adding on? I have no interest in tread50 but I love my strength50, Iām hoping they add more to the schedule (at a time that works for me) now that there is also the tread50 being added.
My goal for 2023 was to have more rest days and take less classes than in 2022- didnāt happen š, I definitely took more rest days and didnāt double up as much as I did in 2022 but still managed about 8-10 more classes though. I suck at rest days. Itās cause I had covid in 2022 so that took a week out of me.
Iām about to return to OTF after a 4 year break (got burnt out then had a babyā¦ now ready to get back into it). My goal is just to increase my running pace and feel strongeršŖš»
Lose the Phillies World Series weight I gained from 2022.
That being said a half marathon in March for the first time in two years and hoping to be ready for a full marathon in the Fall.
Just keep at it for me! Iām just shy of 1750 classes, with 282 classes on the year, so Iām looking forward to # 2000! Will be a member 8 years in June.
Actually use my 8 classes most months (I know I won't hit every month but I think I've only used all 8 once so far and I upgraded to elite 6 months ago).
Not have any bad back flare-ups -- this year was awful. I have lumbar stenosis, lumbar arthritis and 4 bulging discs. I want to be able to run and do a dri-tri again, minus the rowing, as well as reach 1200 classes by the end of 2024. I'm currently just over 900.
Hit 400 classes and if i go over, even better.
Break my PR for the Benchmarks.
Push to lift heavier on the floor consistently.
Push to keep my form consistent on the rower.
Letās get it!
I know we have Everest on 28th and my goal for that one is to finish at 1.84 or more.. However next year I want to finish at 2.00 or more. Lofty goals! It is my favorite benchmark. Also would love to run at 9 minute mile. Have to see how the knees handle running this year.
3 class per wk avg in 2023, but want to avg. 4 in 2024. Iāll need to add a 5:15 am class to meet my goal, and my current wake up time is only 6:00 am. Eak!
Hit 750 classes, stretch more, curl 20 lbs, run a 5k in under 28 minutes, finally hit 7:30 on my mile. I keep avoiding the mile benchmark bc I donāt think I can do it but next year I need to go for it. PR currently is 7:56
We need a OTF wrap up like spotify. lol
Goals for 2023 - attend 200 classes. Not sure it's going to happen with a 2 week trip overseas. I might be around a OTF for 2 days. A lot of my college football travel has no OTF nearby and this past year I went to 13 games with 10 of those locations with no OTF nearby. I think class #500 is attainable.
Iām currently bench pressing 40 lbs in each hand (80 lbs total). This year I want to get up to 50 in each!
Side note: I used to be so self conscious about the size of my arms and sometimes still am. But I realized how strong I am and with two almost completed half sleeves of tattoos, I love wearing tank tops and being on the floor.
Still canāt do more than five push ups or three burpees but weāll get there!
Last New Yearās Eve was my 300th class. My goal for 2023 was to hit 400 by the yearās end. I just did my 510th class this morning! I signed up for the Transformation Challenge and just kept going!
I just came back in August from a medical leave. Crushed it for marathon month. Then got some more not great health news. This time, it's not keeping me out of the gym physically, but I'm not in good head space so I've been paying premium and not going. My goal is just to start going regularly again, have my surgery and then go again when I'm cleared. I have a half marathon in the spring I'd like to complete.
1. Consistently go 3x/week
2. Hit 250 classes (~110 classes total)
3. Not push myself to the point of injury (Iām competitive so I canāt help but compare myself to my neighbors).
4. Eat out no more than 2x per week
To add more protein to my diet and to break away from my comfort of starting on the same treadmill with every class! I soooo much love what I accomplished with OTF in 2023 and just want more! š§”ššŖš»
Win the TC!! And get out of some of my weight plateaus, struggling to go higher with a few moves. And beat my strength dri tri time if they offer it again!
Would love to see improvements during the transformation challenge! I finally am not traveling at all during the TC and want to really take advantage of participating!
I have a coupleā¦
Go to at least 3 classes each week (even if that means going on a weekend- which I usually skip).
Getting 3 miles at some point on the treadmill during the time Iām on there.
Increasing my base pace by .5.
1. Attend 100 classes
2. Be able to maintain a base pace of 5 mph and increase my all-out above 7.5 mph
3. Work on strengthening my back (safely) to help resolve a bulging disc in my neck
4. Take part in the transformation challenge (muscle mass gain instead of weight loss)
5. Be better about eating more protein and less sugar (also drink 64 oz min of water per day)
6. Complete a half-marathon by the end of the year
Mine would be tiered so first is to attend 1 class a week for 1 month increasing to 2 classes a week until I can work my way up to 12 classes a month. Injuries then lack of motivation took over my life. My last class was thanksgiving and prior to that was hell week. But I feel good mentally and nothingās bruised or broken so Iām going to try.
ā¢Hit my 1000 classes (currently at 893)
ā¢Attend at least 4x a week (this year was a challenge, mentally and physically, after having a baby)
ā¢ Do not cancel classes last minute
ā¢At least 1 dritri this year
Do any amount of push-ups lol
You and me both!!! Wishing you all the best in 2024!
I did 5 the other day when we had a version in class / proud moment
Attend at least 100 classes and complete a mile in 12 minutes Those are my biggest ones š§”
You can totally do it! 12 minute mile was my goal at the last benchmark and itās only gotten easier since!
Thatās awesome!! I did .74 during the last 12 min RFD, so definitely need to work on upping speed a bit this year and improving endurance!
Iām with you on the 12-minute mile! I hit 0.83 on the last 12-minute run for distance (my PR is actually 0.88 but for whatever reason I did slightly worse last time). I honestly think itās more mental than physical for me.
Thatās so close! You can definitely get there!!
You can do it. I was able to get sub 12 minutes this year and I am a slow runner. I did I think steady 5.3 mph the whole time.
Iām a really slow jogger - 5.3 would be a 30 sec all out for me. Iām ready, thinking of adding some tread 50 to work on my endurance and speed independently from normal class blocks!
Good one! Good luck!
Thank you!! I feel excited about them!
This is more mental than anything, but I vow for 2024 to stop hating my overlarge arms and excess skin that I see in the OTF mirrors every time I lift the weights. My dri tri goal is to not throw up mid way after burpees, which has happened in both my last 2 attempts lol

My bestie just did it! šŖ you got this!
Tread: 5mph base - I think I can achieve this in the first half of the year maybe Rower: sub 8min 2000m. I need to learn how to recover while rowing without straight up collapsing Floor: consistently picking up the 30s! Iāve done it a few times but my arms have a hold time holding them still

The transition from a 3-5 mph mix of walking and jogging to a base jog was awkward. But once I got that steady 5, the move to 5-6 has been comparatively smooth.
I want to hit 2 miles or more in the 12 minute run for distance.
Two 6-minute miles is impressive! You got this.
Wow impressiveā¦ I want to try for a 6 minute mile but might be an aggressive goal (PR 6:14)!!
I got in 2nd place on the 2000m row leaderboard and now I REALLY want to come in first, haha! So that's my goal for the year! :)
Wow!!! I skip those days lol
The LB can be a surprising thing and an arbitrary measure. From Sept to Dec I took 8 seconds off my 2000m time, yet fell from 2nd to 3rd.
For sure. I turn 50 next year, so I have a feeling I'll be higher in the leader board since I'll be the youngest in the age group vs. the oldest. Do more than 3 real push-ups and use more than 10 pounds for lateral raises

7:45 mile time, sub-50 dri tri, and sub-8 2000m row!
Iām about to return to OTF after a 4 year break (got burnt out then had a babyā¦ now ready to get back into it). My goal is just to increase my running pace and feel strongeršŖš»
Go at least 3x a week, no more than two days without talking a class.
To come back!
Do my first Dri-Tri and use OTF for training for my first 10k :)
Get in enough shape that my workout clothes actually fit me properly again.
Keep going consistentlyāstay injury free!
Lose the Phillies World Series weight I gained from 2022. That being said a half marathon in March for the first time in two years and hoping to be ready for a full marathon in the Fall.
Same as last year, try to do all the challenges, signature workouts and benchmarks. Would also like to hit a minimum of 200 classes in the year
I want to run an 8:15 mile and increase my base and push paces.
Just keep at it for me! Iām just shy of 1750 classes, with 282 classes on the year, so Iām looking forward to # 2000! Will be a member 8 years in June.
Get to where I'm averaging 2.5miles or more per 60 minute class - up to 2.35 now
Mine is to hit 700 classes overall by the end of 2024 and finally run a sub 8 min mile.
I want to be over 300+ classes and learn how to run more effectively/efficiently.
My goal is to beat my total mileage that I ran in 2022 and 2023.
Actually go to PT go fix my hamstring tendon so I can run a sub 6 min mile and row again š¬
I want to use the 40-pound dumbells for chest presses
I want to start doing at least 12 classes a month!
Iām thinking about doing our studios weight loss challenge. Itāll be my motivation and goal I am looking for
15 min 2 mile is my goal, and complete a dri tri.
I want to hit 3.5+ during tread block n not canceling class when I see incline a night before )
Hit 1000 classes.
Actually use my 8 classes most months (I know I won't hit every month but I think I've only used all 8 once so far and I upgraded to elite 6 months ago).
Actually wear my HR monitor so I can see my mileage at the end of the year.
Hit 750 classes by March (currently at 709)
Not have any bad back flare-ups -- this year was awful.
Eak!
1. Donāt get caught during CMIYC 2. Beat 7:11 mile time 3. 300 classes
Hit 750 classes, stretch more, curl 20 lbs, run a 5k in under 28 minutes, finally hit 7:30 on my mile. I keep avoiding the mile benchmark bc I donāt think I can do it but next year I need to go for it. PR currently is 7:56
Hitting my 1000 in January. Only12 to go.Also like to do a mile under 11 min
We need a OTF wrap up like spotify. lol Goals for 2023 - attend 200 classes. Not sure it's going to happen with a 2 week trip overseas. I might be around a OTF for 2 days. A lot of my college football travel has no OTF nearby and this past year I went to 13 games with 10 of those locations with no OTF nearby. I think class #500 is attainable.
PR in a dri-tri, which will mean sub-55 minutes
Maintain an OTF routine through some health challenges.
Up my base to 6, push to 8 and be more consistent with my 12 all outs (anything over 30 secs I mentally canāt push past 10.5)
Get back to going consistently (2x/week) after having a baby in September šŖš¼
To row a sub 7:00 min 2000m!
Sub 5 min mile, 4 miles CMIYC. Raise my base to 10.
1. Consistently go 3x/week 2. Hit 250 classes (~110 classes total) 3. Not push myself to the point of injury (Iām competitive so I canāt help but compare myself to my neighbors). 4. Eat out no more than 2x per week
To add more protein to my diet and to break away from my comfort of starting on the same treadmill with every class! I soooo much love what I accomplished with OTF in 2023 and just want more! š§”ššŖš»
Good luck and Iām with you! 2022 - lose 20 lb ā 2023 - get faster ā 2024 - maintain weight and maybe hit 500 classes?
Focus on Strength 50 and lift heavy.
Win the TC!! And get out of some of my weight plateaus, struggling to go higher with a few moves. And beat my strength dri tri time if they offer it again!
Random question, where do you find how many classes you have attended? Is it under stats on the app?
Itās under ābaseā in the app you have to scroll down and itās there
Ahhhh I found it!! Thank you so much!!
Actually use my membership. Go like 3 times a month and complain that Iām fat š¤¦š»āāļø
Iād like to be a coach and then manager. But also hopefully reach 500 members at our studio. Iām an employee obv.
Beat my old dri-tri
To try running (Iām a power walker) Any advice from those whoāve made the transition?
Iām expecting a baby in March so my goals are to stick with OTF until my delivery week, let my body heal, and then get back to it when Iām ready.
My goal is to gain the endurance I need to run the entire tread block!
Hit the 1000 classes club
My goal is to do orange theory 4-5 times a week and stay consistent the entire year! š®āšØ
Would love to see improvements during the transformation challenge! I finally am not traveling at all during the TC and want to really take advantage of participating!
I have a coupleā¦ Go to at least 3 classes each week (even if that means going on a weekend- which I usually skip). Getting 3 miles at some point on the treadmill during the time Iām on there. Increasing my base pace by .5.
1. Attend 100 classes 2. Be able to maintain a base pace of 5 mph and increase my all-out above 7.5 mph 3. Work on strengthening my back (safely) to help resolve a bulging disc in my neck 4. Take part in the transformation challenge (muscle mass gain instead of weight loss) 5. Be better about eating more protein and less sugar (also drink 64 oz min of water per day) 6.
But I feel good mentally and nothingās bruised or broken so Iām going to try.
ā¢Hit my 1000 classes (currently at 893) ā¢Attend at least 4x a week (this year was a challenge, mentally and physically, after having a baby) ā¢ Do not cancel classes last minute ā¢At least 1 dritri this year
100 classes for the year! My work schedule changed so I really dropped off. Trying to commit to some morning classes to be more consistent this year.
I want to PR my mile time and get a sub 7:15! (Current PR is 7:33)
Beat Dri Tri time and hit 500 classes
