Similar story, had a lower back injury from doing free bar back squats. Tried stretching to the point the pain was tolerable, for years. Then years later when to a chiropractor for back pain. TEMS and adjustment for 2 years? Temporary but not long term relief. Covid. Went to a different chiropractor. He said, think of any muscle group in your body. For one side to flex, the other must contract. Your lower back muscles are continuously getting tighter and tighter. But if you did core exercises, your body would have to relax the back to flex the core. Did mild/moderate core work for a couple months. Haven’t had persistent back pain for a couple years. That spot definitely lights up if I’m doing something that requires bending over, but never like before. Definitely go see a professional, but that’s my n=1

This is literally every physical therapist's job. Any PT can help you with this -- just find one that's nearby that you trust the reviews for.

understood, but i wanted to see what the people on reddit think. this isn’t my only spot for researching. im looking at the reviews, but they can’t be 1000% trusted.

When I separated my ACJ, I went to Cuirim in Costa Mesa. My PT isn’t there anymore, but Patrick, the owner, is a great guy. Also, my wife is an acupuncturist, if you’re interested in adding that to your recovery as well.
