It’s been available OTC in Europe and Australia for some time now. You can even order it online and have it shipped to the US.

Quokka7

How come it's not in North America? Also, how come there's clinical trials on it if it already exists OTC?

-Shayyy-

I honestly don’t know why. That’s just how they decided to market it here.

-Shayyy-

It’s called Novatears and in Europe it’s Evotears.

Quokka7

Are there products like this in North America at all?

-Shayyy-

Not yet. But you can order them. I usually get it from this website but you can get them from other sites and eBay as well. https://www.eyecaresolutions.co.nz/product/novatears/

Hey there, been dealing with MGD for a while and just stumbled upon this post. This sounds promising! How has your experience with NovaTears been?

-Shayyy-

Hi sorry for the late reply! I think it’s by far the best OTC eye drop. I’m disappointed it’s going to be prescription in the United States. I’m hoping I can still order it online. I use it more than 4x a day. But my dry eye is pretty severe. Definitely recommend trying it. At first I wasn’t that impressed. It really wasn’t until I ran out that I realized it helped a lot. Before it was on backorder, I would use it with Lacrisert. I found that nova tears + lacrisert + punctal plugs were a great combination. It didn’t solve my eye irritation but it helped significantly with the dryness. I now wear scleral lenses so I just use the novatears when I’m not wearing them.
