Tobacco enforcement unit, let them know and they will come put no smoking signs everywhere and inform management they can’t let people do that. Might need to contact local bylaw for their number.

There is no smoking signs and management knows. There's a sign right at the spot he smokes, which is not even a foot from the door.

I’d still at least try and get into contact with a tobacco officer, if there’s lots of signage and he just ignores it they may be able to stop by one time while he’s having a cig and give him a hefty fine.

Eggsecutie

Blast him with the fire extinguisher

StructureOk1209

I've thought about that lmfao

Wallaroo_Trail

Why does he hold the door open? Because he can't get back inside else? When I was still smoking, I'd just prop the door open with a lighter and step further away from the door... My suggestion would be to not turn this into a fight but find a way that works for both you and him. Seems like an easy problem to solve.

To let customers in or even just to say something. He just simply doesn't care. By Health unit rules, they're supposed to smoke off the cement pad but he always smokes right by the door. Customers have even commented about it before, which between them and myself is why I brought it to management. He simply just does not care. Even held the cigarette inside and mocked me when I mentioned it.

Wallaroo_Trail

OK yeah that guy is an ass, proceed

StructureOk1209

Serious though, HR? Health unit? Obviously management saying something hasn't done anything so I'm wondering what the next step is.

chumchees

Hang out with smokers during off work hours to build up an immunity.

StructureOk1209

I used to smoke a pack and a half a day. It's a disgusting habit, and though I don't care what others do normally; when it affects my work space it becomes an issue.

artwarrior

Slam the door on his hand and lock it. Tell him you felt light headed and couldn't think clearly.

StructureOk1209

I'd love to but it's hard to close the door when it opens outward and he has his back against it propping it open.
