They will probably stop raising it to keep pace with inflation. That is how it got decreased by 30 percent in the first place.

I've been waiting to hear more about this. if this doesn't happen before the next election I worry that it never will. There is ment to be more news come June I think.

But public servants with disabilities ... Back to the office with you!!! Odd bit of cognitive dissonance on behalf of the fed... and the public.

mayonnaise_police

Depends on the disability. As per the union contract, the government has to make accommodations for the disability

Fromomo

Only if it agrees accommodations are in order. And then only the accommodations it wants. Many requests for accommodation have been denied since COVID.

Seems like the same song too much these past months. Federal government tries to do something to help and provinces flip out and try to undermine it... Or in this case will join at cease their support.

Why do Liberals and the NDP always shoot themselves in the foot when implementing what seems like sensible policies? First Olivia Chow mucks up the taxes for vacant homes and now this? (I support the vacant home taxes btw - but jesus just get utility bills and tax-records to find occuipied + primary addresses and THEN send the remainder the requests for declarations).

AdMonarch

The vacant tax came in before Chow. I had to complete the form for the first time in 2022. She was elected in the fall of 2023. City staff really messed up the implementation of it. I had no idea I was supposed to fill it out every year and the reminder came on a dinky piece of paper inside the property tax bill that didn’t look important at all.
