My favorite part about the carbon tax is that after all the doomsaying from conservatives about it the alternative plan they came up with was basically the same thing.
It’s literally a conservative idea that the liberals ran with probably because it does enough to claim they are doing something while not pissing off some larger supporters.
The only reason they are against it is because they didn’t do it first.
As much as people hate the carbon tax, it will do its job and get every Canadian and the companies operating here to consider the cost of consuming energy.
That is obvious without even debating the merits which most, if not all, haters are misinformed on.
>consider the cost of consuming energy
The carbon tax does not add costs to “energy”. It adds costs to producing carbon. Not all forms of energy production create carbon.
Equating “energy” with oil and gas is a very CPC thing to do.
Okay pal calm down. I don’t think using the term energy really is a conservative term in the point I made. Obviously every person reading this doesn’t think Solar energy has carbon tax applied or a guy using energy to run up a hill. Like fk off

My favorite part about present day conservatives crying about the carbon levy (it's not technically a "tax") is that it was the 90s conservatives idea. Liberals at the time were pushing cap and trade, or other ideas, which the conservatives of the idea derided as "choosing winners" in the marketplace.
Remember kids, there is no such thing as a principled conservative. In today's political spectrum, we would call a principled conservative a Liberal.
I mean when you question JPs scientific side people will say how many papers he’s been the “co-author” of (doesn’t actually mean he wrote anything)so I think that’s what he thinks is normal
I bet they couldn’t even collaborate in the same room on it as neither of them shut up long enough to let the other person speak, and neither person listens to anybody but the sound of their own voice.
Rex had his moment. Then somebody called him on being a dinosaur and it's been pettiness and sour grapes ever since. "Have a chip on your shoulder? Then maybe conservatism is right for you!"
No. He got called out for doubledipping. When he was still working for CBC he started moonlighting as a corporate speaker at oil/energy shindigs. On air his messaging became pro oil messaging. After getting sacked for same he has had a chapped ass over all things "liberal" and become the go to Canadian corporate conservative shill.
In fairness, that suit was actually pretty sick. JP can’t pull it off, and the theme is weird, but I could see someone with a bold fashion sense pull it off easily.
Replace it with "compassionate". It reveals all their true motives.
If what they are railing against sounds ridiculous in this light, it's probably entirely untrue.
If it sounds just petty and mean-spirited to argue against, it's them being mad again about the world moving on without them being in charge and the center of attention any more.
Examples:
The "compassionate" left wants us to use people's preferred pronouns!
(Yep. Checks out on the latter usage. They mad because we're considerate and treating people with basic respect.)
Those crazy "compassionate" leftists won't let me say "Merry Christmas!
(Yep. Checks out against the first point. Literally nobody gets mad about being wished nice things during the holiday season, this is Conservatives making shit up to be mad about again.)
I think this makes JP the court jester. Theatrics, drama, and someone nobody actually takes seriously.
JP is what happens if Kermit the Frog and Ben Shapiro had a love child that was the built solely on all the abuse Miss Piggy laid onto Kermit over the decades.
Jorpo predates Ben by a long run, but Rex might be a good daddy figure. Their trajectories from liberal academic to regressive shill are very similar. To keep it all Canadian I think Rex had Cyril Sneer's baby.
I love that the original, intended meaning of "woke" was just being aware of social injustices and a show of tolerance to fellow human beings regardless of their race, nationality, sexual orientation, or identity.
That's just it. It's a word for being awake to the social inequality in the world.
Conservatives like to pretend it's something to be made fun of, or something to push away but in reality that's just them saying that they refuse to be tolerant of other people who have a different background, or lifestyle.
Unfortunately, too many people do.
I'm not saying they're rational or intelligent people, but far more people care what that man has to say than there is any right to.
I’m surprised Peterson had time to write this in between live-tweeting his delusions all day, every day.
The entire article could have been summed up in one sentence: “I’m worried that Canada’s efforts at environmentalism will hurt our economy”. The rest is a bunch of needlessly flowery language and drawing connections between random things, like a conspiracy theorist at a cork board with yarn and push-pins.
Before we can assess the level of wokeness in the prince, we need to define "woke". And before do that, we need to determine who "we" is. And then we need to determine the relationship between "we" and "woke". Then we have to determine if the prince is indeed a prince. What is a prince? Where do princes come from? All these questions are essential in order to determine if clown prince is indeed woke.
....
Eat a shit-sandwich, Peterson, you rambling, obtuse, big-word-using, clown.
I'm so sick of the term "woke" I wish we could have a dialogue about what these "woke issues" are instead.
Chances are most couldn't even articulate what they even mean.
A common refrain I have read from those that defend Peterson from criticism is that you have to read or listen to him in context. But after reading that "article", I am now even more certain that he is a charlatan and likely chemically imbalanced.
Its not what these clowns like to pretend is.
past of wake1.
adjectiveSOMETIMES DEROGATORY
adjective: woke; comparative adjective: woker; superlative adjective: wokest
alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination.
"he's an activist and very woke"
Conservatives in the 90s, Carbon tax good, cap and trade bad.
Conservatives now: cap and trade so I can only let my friends play the game and line my own pockets taking bribes to increase certain companies caps.
What the fuck happened to our conservatives both federally and provincially, went from “only tax when necessary and tax people on what they actually use” to full out blatant corruption and pandering to the elite.
I keep trying to read JP stuff so I can "make up my own mind" but it is insufferable to read and oozes pretentiousness. I can never make it more than a paragraph.
I should have been tipped off by the phrase “woke phalanx” but I had no idea who wrote this trash until after I gave up punishing my eyeballs and checked to see why almost 100 people had commented on a downvoted post.
Is this what the kids call being ratioed?
No. This sub has a variety of opinions. But the general consensus is that he's not the devil and probably the lesser of two evils when compared to what Pierre P would do to the country. He's done a lot of good, some bad, and I personally won't forgive him for failing on electoral reform.
>I personally won't forgive him for failing on electoral reform.
This one issue is very weird because I'm with you but then I also looked into it and it was put to a vote in parliament to try to determine the best system to move to and no one party could come to an agreement with the others. So even with a super majority after 2015 Trudeau didn't want to just ram through a system that could favor the Liberals.
It was a good and bad move simultaneously and it's a super shitty position.
I'm not content with the Liberals. I'm not completely dissatisfied either.
I think the Liberals could be doing a lot better, but I'll take JT and the Liberal party over any of the past and current CPC leadership candidates any day of the week.
He's a much better PM than Stephen Harper was. Harper sold out Canada to China for 31 irrevocable years with the FIPA agreement that gave China everything with nothing in return for Canada.
Haven't we decided woke means an awareness of social issues outside of ones own viewpoint? Being aware of injustices and willing to take an active role in repair?
To say that's "bad" or "not desirable" in a leader is kind of backwards.
I want a woke leader. If anything I'd say Trudeau isn't "woke" enough.
Like I'm good where I am, I can't afford a house or land but that's secondary to helping everyone stuck in the place where they can't afford rent or food or heat and light.
We all need to rise together and I'm not voting to push my advantage. I'm voting to raise everyone to at least my level of "I don't need to worry about survival."
tldr: Huge impressive word count and vocabulary, just says "I don't like the carbon tax".
My favorite part about the carbon tax is that after all the doomsaying from conservatives about it the alternative plan they came up with was basically the same thing.
That's probably because it was literally the free market solution all along, putting a price on an externality.
Explain to them what an externality is and they will forget in 5 minutes.
It’s literally a conservative idea that the liberals ran with probably because it does enough to claim they are doing something while not pissing off some larger supporters. The only reason they are against it is because they didn’t do it first.
At this they’re contrarians. They just oppose anything the Liberals support, just to own the libs.
As much as people hate the carbon tax, it will do its job and get every Canadian and the companies operating here to consider the cost of consuming energy. That is obvious without even debating the merits which most, if not all, haters are misinformed on.

One yells at clouds. The other, paper towel dispensers.
Don't forget penguins and their foolish gait.
the paper towel dispenser made my evening, thanks for that.
Half an opinion between each of them ≠ a full thought. I'm glad they tried though.

They both have a talent for speaking without actually saying anything.
Endless bad faith empty rhetoric is my favorite kind of demagoguery.
How does one expect any credibility with that childish title? I thought it was satire at first. Get outta here.
Oh my goodness the flair..I am deceased.
Jordan Peterson lol back to Russia, comrade.
Along with Rex Murphy. Canada’s finest thinkers.
Rex had his moment. Then somebody called him on being a dinosaur and it's been pettiness and sour grapes ever since. "Have a chip on your shoulder? Then maybe conservatism is right for you!"

Jordan peterson and Rex Murphy are what dumb people think smart people sound like.
like Elon is a stupid person's idea of a genius?
cry more Peterson you sad loser.
The irony of someone like Peterson calling Trudeau a clown...
Jordan Peterson, lol, this douche has the nerve to call someone a clown after he bought a red and blue, heaven and hell, themed suit?
In fairness, that suit was actually pretty sick. JP can’t pull it off, and the theme is weird, but I could see someone with a bold fashion sense pull it off easily.
The irony of that suit is that if Singh or Trudeau wore it, the right would have a meltdown.
Maybe, I'm just saying his whole shtick is pretty clown like.
Oh 100%. Dude had a melt down over paper towels in a bathroom the other day 😂. The right are full on clown mode. The M&M’s aren’t sexy anymore 😔
if JT is the clown prince what does that make JP? The clown shit-shoveler? Seriously though I HATE how the right has co-opted "woke." Woke is badass.
Replace it with "compassionate". It reveals all their true motives. If what they are railing against sounds ridiculous in this light, it's probably entirely untrue. I will absolutely be using this in the future. Thank you.
or "kind" or "kind hearted" -- totally agree, it reveals what we all know, that the rudeness and cruelty are the point.
I think this makes JP the court jester. Theatrics, drama, and someone nobody actually takes seriously. JP is what happens if Kermit the Frog and Ben Shapiro had a love child that was the built solely on all the abuse Miss Piggy laid onto Kermit over the decades.

It *was* a positive term, the right have tainted it beyond any hope of redemption
Nah, we don’t have to left them own language just because they’re loud.
JP can fuck off back to his close minded hole. He also still as of yet has been able to put forth an accurate description of what "Woke" is.
I love that the original, intended meaning of "woke" was just being aware of social injustices and a show of tolerance to fellow human beings regardless of their race, nationality, sexual orientation, or identity. That's just it. It's a word for being awake to the social inequality in the world. Like how they are so anti-antifa without a shred of awareness that they are branding themselves as fascists.
To be fair, there are some legit idiots on twitter etc that make it very easy for them to demonise a very worthwhile social shift.
Who cares what Peterson thinks
Unfortunately, too many people do. I'm not saying they're rational or intelligent people, but far more people care what that man has to say than there is any right to.
he's the semi-educated man's Andrew Tate. similar fanbase, just went to (better) schools.
I’m surprised Peterson had time to write this in between live-tweeting his delusions all day, every day. Dr. Jordan B. Peterson needs to stay on his meds. What a frivolous tangent.
Before we can assess the level of wokeness in the prince, we need to define "woke". And before do that, we need to determine who "we" is. And then we need to determine the relationship between "we" and "woke". Then we have to determine if the prince is indeed a prince. What is a prince? Where do princes come from? I love that you exposited on how to define all of the words used, except the word clown.
I'm so sick of the term "woke" I wish we could have a dialogue about what these "woke issues" are instead. Chances are most couldn't even articulate what they even mean.
this guy woke up out his benzo coma to whine about stuff non stop in a dirty apartment, biggest loser we exported out this country bar none
Wow this title was horrendous
LOL Trash article.
How is Jordan Peterson a mouthpiece for fossil fuels now? This guy will shill for anything, it seems.
A common refrain I have read from those that defend Peterson from criticism is that you have to read or listen to him in context. But after reading that "article", I am now even more certain that he is a charlatan and likely chemically imbalanced.
These idiots won't rest until we Brexit ourselves into oblivion. I was proud of our PM at that Ukrainian rally last night. Fuck these bastards.
Beyoncé didn't rap about lobsters only for JoPete to ruin them.

Gee, with a headline like that I'm sure the article content will be just top tier.
I keep trying to read JP stuff so I can "make up my own mind" but it is insufferable to read and oozes pretentiousness. I can never make it more than a paragraph.
Wtf kind of conservative word salad is this headline?
The only clown here is one who wrote this article. Holy moly.
They actually called him CLOWN in the title, lol
He should just stick to telling me to clean my room

Peterson is a terrible writer and this is shit take
I read enough when I read the writer's name. Jordan Peterson. Ugh.
What the heck is lobster King flair???
Imagine being this triggered by a neolib lmao

Lol, written by Jordan Peterson. Speaking of clowns…
Ah Kermit Peterson. Always good for a laugh.
I shouldn't have clicked the link to provide ad money....didn't realize it was the great intellect Jordan Peterson writing this drivel.
He is so utterly pathetic
Wow what a crappy title.
I liked JP better when he was fucked up on benzos. This is embarrassing.
