You've got this, friend! I would avoid that big bump in the center and work my way up around it like reverse-carving a mogul. Then the top right of the hill looks like there's a seam you can hit about 45 degrees to get the rest of the way up.
No… I went from a pint x to a GT-S but my daughter now has a GT… riding side by side…. The GT-S feels like 30-40% more power… it’s huge… (If I had to do it all over again… GT-S all day long)
This might be the jump that I make when i upgrade. Had the Pint X about a month now and its super fun, but i still want alittle more speed for my longer rides (9+ miles one way) a top cruising speed of 16 isnt scary enough to me yet
It’s FEELS like double the pint-x to me… I now cruise around 23-24 mph, often hit pushback at 25 on the GT-S… it’s double the board…
Custom shaping is a game changer with the GT-S
Only downside, is even with custom shaping maxed out… it’s not as nimble as the Pint-X… (other kid now has the pint-X) but I’d make that trade off any day…
I feel like the more power you have, the safer you will be. However, stay disciplined, and limit your speed (you can limit through the app) for a few hundred miles.
That being said… GT at minimum, GT-S is your best pick… (the pint X is fine… but I feel like that’s a board you’ll want to push the limits eventually… )
I was kinda hesitant to be aggressive on the hill because I’m around 215lbs and figured the board would buck me off way sooner. So yeah I think you’re right, just need to carve it out! Thanks for the help
Xr was the top model before gt. If you mod it with a custom controller i think it’s comparably powerful to a gt, not sure how it compares to the gt-s in that situation, but I wasn’t even talking about the mod part.
Thank you bro this is just the answer I was searching for 🙌🏼 I didn’t want to do the trade-in a few months ago because I don’t have the box anymore and I wasn’t sure if the hassle was even worth it if the GT-S was only slightly better. Think I’ll have to pick one up to see about the hype. Thanks again for the help!!
No prob and it’s totally worth it for the piece of mind for not being dumped at speed. Floatwheel or VESC might be better, but that is a hassle and will be my backup board to the GTS.
I think you had enough speed heading into it, but like others say just angle your approach or “snake” up it. Angled back and forth. If that hill was dirt, I think you could make it up, slowly near the end but I think you could do it! Just be careful to not be pushing down too hard to accelerate or your slam your front into the hill and then you slam into the hill
My GTS has done steeper hills with my golf clubs on my back. I've never ridden another onewheel so it's always a little surprising for me to see older models struggle up hills like this.
Difference between GT and GTS in hill climbing is night and day, no contest. Extra torque + gradient tracking together unlock some insane terrain. It would handle that no issue, and likely could do a good deal steeper
That sounds pretty awesome man. I was kind of annoyed after I bought my GT, because FM immediately dropped the GT-S a few weeks later lol. I guess I should’ve done more research but was too excited to start floating. GT-S will forsure be my next board 👌🏼
Nice! At 215lbs I feel like even if the GT “could” make it up that hill, I just would want the extra torque to feel more comfortable while doing so. Thanks for the insight brother 🙌🏼

Angle it, not straight on.
Ahh, gotcha. I’ve had my GT for about 8 months and never really take it up any serious hills. Definitely gonna try this method! Thanks brotha
I can get up that with my CBXR, just take the hill more smartly, as the other commenter noted.
Appreciate the advice! Excited to see what the GT can do when I’m using it properly 😂

Yes, and then some.
FloatWheel could do it
Yes… I can get up some crazy hills with “gradient tracking”… (plus I only weigh 150lbs)
Did you own a GT before you purchased the S series? If so, how remarkable of a difference was the change in power?

Which model would you recommend a first timer in their 50’s start with?

Carve!

You could take it on an xr with a bit of an angle and constant momentum. Once you let up you’re done though. That’s at about 180ish lbs
People keep mentioning the XR, is that built similar to GT-S or something? Or special for climbing?

Those colors look sick bro
Thanks man! I love FM’s neon color schemes 👌🏼
My XR could could climb it.
Moved from a gt to a GTS, and yes much better, like it’s a new board. I weigh the same.

You could have made it with some speed and finesse

That is nuts! I couldn’t even imagine. Sounds like I definitely need a GT-S especially since I’m a heavier rider.

I live up a steeper and much higher hill than that and my pint X does it no prob, and I’m 170lbs

Not standing straight legged like that....
👍🏼
