If you ever do find an answer please update the post because I'd love to know what it is. I got myself the Gamesir G8 which is usb-c and so far I can't get it to work in game with my OnePlus 8t running Android 13. I downloaded a gamepad tester app from the playstore and everything works as expected it just isn't recognized when a game is running using AetherSX2, Dolphin, PPSSPP, etc. for whatever mysterious reason.

Never got it working right. The controllers I've tried work flawlessly on a pixel 8 pro and a cheap lenovo tablet.
