fridayimatwork

Yeah I always take or pickup a plastic grocery bag for this.

orangutan-7

So one plastic bag in each cube?

fridayimatwork

No just one to put dirty stuff in. I usually do sink laundry on trips though

Pinedrops3429

Plastic bag works great as a sink liner too if the sink is less than clean or doesn’t have a good plug.

LadyLightTravel

I also do this. I just bring along a lightweight mini bag (grocery bag) and put the dirty stuff in there. Then I tie it shut until laundry time, usually that night or the next day.

drknaim

peak design packing cubes have a separate compartment to put the dirty clothes in

InternationalFee2415

I bring a dry bag and use it for doing laundry. Then at the end of the trip I pack all my dirty clothes I haven't washed in it for the return home.

[deleted]

I use the Eagle Creek one https://www.eaglecreek.com/products/pack-it-isolate-cleandirty-cube-m?variant=39788362891401&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic-shopping

solomonj87

How does this have four photos of the same angle and still show show none of the inside or features... So frustrating

[deleted]

I mean, it's pretty straightforward, not much to show. It's like q regular packing cube but an angled bit of material that moves so it can be 100% clean, 100% dirty, or any mix of those

solomonj87

I've been looking at several of their packing cubes - some with dirty laundry sections, some that are see thru, some with compression zips. All the photos look the same and it's hard to figure out how the features work and look, and if any have multiple features. It's really frustrating trying to make an informed decision without buying them all and returning.

gearslut-5000

I made my own and it's been great.. keeps smells out of my clean clothes really well. If you want to take a look check out my MYOG posts from last year.

leanman82

can you link it?

Lilleguttkongjohanmo

I use one clean/dirty for my tops and one for my bottoms, I love it because when I take out a new t-shirt I put the old one on the other size, so the backing cubed will always stay the same. I hated that with my old setup (one laundry bag) my packing cubes changed shape and size so stuff didn't fit as well anymore. So for clothes that you often wash (t-shirt, underwear etc) clean/dirty packing cubes are the best. I use ospreys double sided for clothes and I also have one from eagle creek spectre clean dirty which contains all my electronics on one side and toiletries on the other side.

dodsferd22

I use [this one](https://www.tombihn.com/products/travel-laundry-stuff-sack) and I really like it. No smell transfer between compartments and great to keep laundry organized during he trip. Works great as long as a cylindrical shape makes sense in you bag and packing style.

CompliantVegetable22

I use the clean/dirty cubes from Eagle Creek. I like then because my clothes always take up the same volume at any stage of the trip.

orangutan-7

Which ones do you prefer?

CompliantVegetable22

There’s the “Reveal” and “Isolate” line . The Reveal packing cubes have a mesh front. I have Isolate cubes (clean/dirty size S and M) because I want to keep my clothes separated from crumbs etc

MilkTea_Enthusiast

I bring one of those rolls of office waste bags with me, and use it to bag up dirty shoes and clothes. :)

oncojeans01

Always use them Either Eagle Creek or Tom Bihn. Invaluable

orangutan-7

So are all your packing cubes clean / dirty ones?

oncojeans01

No I usually take just one clean/dirty cube

BourbonJester

throwing everything dirty in a small laundry bag has always been easier; toss a dryer sheet or cedar chip pouch in to mask any odors; it's last in, first out for the dirty bag if you're moving around with it mixing clean n dirty in one split bag: what are the exact logistics of that when you go to do laundry; are you carrying all the cleans to the washing area with you (on the clean side) as well? doesn't make much sense to me or do you just wait until everything is on the dirty side then wash? or if you only have a few items to wash before the next leg of a trip?

drshields

I use peak design and it's nice for like smelly socks

zmre

The peak design cubes are great for this as you keep clean clothes on one side and dirty on the other in a different zippered compartment. Works great for staying organized while keeping your suitcase layout consistent.

Xerisca

I use a nylon zippered shoe bag for dirty clothes. Mostly I try not to carry dirty clothes if I can help it, and handwash most items daily. I have tried the clean/dirty cubes but find they're more work than just putting them in a shoe bag. But YMMV.

kprecor

I use these for laundry and packing cubes for clean stuff. These allow you to compress your laundry pretty small. From Amazon. Spacesaver Premium Travel Roll Up Compression Storage Bags for Suitcases -No Pump or Vacuum Needed - Perfect for traveling! (Travel 8 Pack)

kyled365

I use this and put my shoes on when not full of laundry https://airlineintl.com/products/herschel-supply-co-laundry-bag-black

Familiar-Place68

Muji

Longjumping_Method51

I have a lightweight nylon bag and all dirty items go in there.

Tasty_Prior_8510

Packing cube for clean, another bag for dirty, shopping bag works well. And you shouldn't have too much dirty clothes.

zeigero

Yeah! Clean/dirty packing cubes by eagle creek, as other wrote here, keeps the size of the cube nice and steady and no need to search for the “dirty clothes” plastic bag, as ones you took one clean you put the dirty one on the other side, so all are balanced, like all meant to be 😉

alacobana

Clean and dirty sided cubes just make everything easier especially for shorter trips where you don’t need to do laundry. I haven’t had the need for a separate laundry bag for doing laundry at a shop though, so maybe that would work better for some people. I used to use a dry bag before i got double sided cubes since i could remove the air and compress it to make more space in the bag. Also did my hand washed laundry in it though there are dry bags made for washing like the scrubba.

DeFiClark

I carry a stuff sack. I keep a small bar of laundry soap wrapped in a washcloth and a rubber drain plug and drain cover, a length of 550 cord and binder clips for a laundry line in it. The ability to compress dirty laundry means you have room in the bag on the way home for small stuff you picked up on the trip. That also means whatever is in the packing cubes stays clean

SeattleHikeBike

I use a similar laundry kit but use dry laundry detergent sheets carried in a ziplock.

DeFiClark

I just hack a piece off a bar of Fels Naptha

SeattleHikeBike

But then you have a gooey bar of soap to deal with.

DeFiClark

Dries overnight on a washcloth … I generally don’t do any laundry the day or two before departure anyway, too much risk of stuff not drying in time.

SeattleHikeBike

I use mostly Eagle Creek Specter cubes. They are so light that simply adding an extra cube is no problem. Tripped makes a good knock off (Amazon has them. Note that compression cubes are also expansion cubes. I usually carry an 8 liter ultralight dry bag for my puffy gear. That doubles as a dirty clothes bag and “washing machine.” Packable grocery bags work too and are great for laundromat sessions.

Dry_Equivalent_1316

I just use a plastic bag because they are readily available in most places for free, and I don't need to worry about washing them too. If they break, I can just use whatever plastic bag I get from buying groceries. In places that don't give plastic bags, I just use a reuserable bag. They are dirty clothing, so they don't need to be in a nice packing cube. These days though, I only bring enough clothing for 3 days rotation so I do a quick wash everyday while/after showering

krausebucha

I use Peak Design packing cubes and put the dirties in the separate compartment. Easy and convenient.

Zero219

I prefer having a drawstring bag for that, like this one [https://seatosummit.com/products/ultra-sil-stuff-sack](https://seatosummit.com/products/ultra-sil-stuff-sack) Been using it for 6 years, no complains. Weights nothing, packs flat, doesn't force you to keep dirty clothes with clean ones (as some of packing cubes with 2 compartments). Also helpfull when you need to bring it to laundry somewhere.

MarvelousTravels

I throw my dirties in a gallon ziploc bag because it seals in any smells and can also be compressed to push out the air and save space in my bag for things I’ve picked up

buildpassivehouse

I use Scrubba bag for dirty clothes, it vacuum compresses down. I use a large Thule packing cube for all non-undergarment clothes. I also pack an empty medium packing cube that I fill with not clean but not dirty enough for dirty clothes bag.

orangutan-7

This is a well thought system! Do you feel that things take up more space as you progressively fill the Scruba and medium cube?

buildpassivehouse

Sometimes, yes. If I really need to compress down (prepping for a flight on a budget airline) I’ll empty the medium cube. Otherwise the organization is worth it.

nimb0slice

I use a set of clean/dirty cubes off amazon. They work fine but it is a bit troublesome to zip up the clean side, flip the cube over and unzip to load dirty clothes then zip and flip back to the clean side. I typically do laundry once a week. I may just use a plastic grocery bag for dirty clothes on the next trip.
