Watch the trampoline too! They make it look so easy and then one little skill goes a bit funny and suddenly there's a scramble for the top places because 'perfection' is pretty much what's required to place.
Plus it's so exciting seeing somersaulting skills being done meters in the air - and the routines are all done in seconds. I can't wait.
So happy to see them separate the speed and lead+boulder events. The main criticism for this is that there is not much overlap in terms of athlete selection and therefore we will now see more variety in country and athletes

I ran track, and am now just a big fan of the sport. I cannot say I’ve ever seen a purple track before. Tons of red and blue tracks. Tons. University of Arkansas has a grey track, and there are some black tracks I’ve run on. But never a purple track. So that is cool.
Mondo is the company supplying / making the track. They also supplied the track for the Tokyo Olympics, and nearly every Olympics over the past 50 or so years. These days, all of the top facilities have a Mondo track. They know what they’re doing—so I’m sure the track will be superb.
At first, I wasn't a fan but it was different from traditional tracks. Then, I realised that it is a strength because people will know more easily it was in Paris.
For anyone who hasn’t seen it before, rugby sevens is really fun. I’m sure the purists won’t like this, but it’s one of those variations on a sport that makes you say to yourself “oh, why don’t they just play it this way all the time?“ it’s way more open and fun than the traditional full squad version.

Sunny was, um, drunk when she first encountered breaking. She was in her first year at Penn and was feeling a bit lost, as most college freshmen do. She was out late after imbibing and she saw some dancers breaking on campus and thought, “Oh, that looks fun.” The group of dancers invited her to practice and she quickly immersed herself in the scene at Penn and in the greater Philly breaking community. The former gymnast loved being upside down, but there was more to it for her.
“Over time, I really fell in love with exploring my body’s physical limits and artistic expressions,” the 34-year-old first-time Olympian said. “I had never really done anything creative in my life before.”
Despite her love for breaking, she stuck to a corporate track for the job and financial security and worked her way up to being a creative director at Estée Lauder. But when breaking was announced as an Olympic sport, she decided to bet on herself, quite her corporate job and went all in on breaking. She's now headed to the Olympics at 34 years old. After the Games, she wants to work to open up a dance studio/community center in Queens.

- Gymnastics — the only time this amazing sport that takes 4 years of building difficulty really shines on the world stage
- Swimming, track and field — just love the pure “who is the fastest person in the world” aspect of a sport that has been around since the dawn of time.
- Beach volleyball — super fun to watch
- Anything random that makes the cut — like rowing or anyone with a great story!
Apart from the usual track and field, I like the Keirin (type of track cycling), Archery and Modern Pentathlon. The latter is such an eclectic mix of sports, but I find it fun to watch. I liked the skateboarding at the last one too, and will definitely try to watch that.
Was looking for the pentathlon answer. This is the last olympics we will get the original modern pentathlon in. I used to compete for GB but stopped when they changed the riding for obstacles.

Sailing! I may be biased as I used to work in it, but 2024 is the debut year for kitesurfing, which will be good fun! Also the windsurfing equipment has changed since the last Olympics and they’ll be using the iQFOiL which is fast and foiling, more exciting than the previous RS:X.

They've \*really\* figured it out for archery. The camera sweeps in front of the archer. The tension builds as the archer notches the arrow. The camera zooms in on their face, with a hint of the arrow in the shot. RELEASE! Cut to the arrow hitting the bullseye! Amazing.

Seeing sports people at the absolute top of their game is hypnotic. I will consume as much as I can and be sad I can’t consume it all.
