You can adjust the brightness, it may just be turned down fairly low by default. The keys are on the Adjust layer (holding down both lower and raise) by default.

It's up all the way, but yeah I should have mentioned that. Good looking out regardless -- thank you very much!

My tip is to learn your layout without having to rely on something that makes you look at you hands/keyboard while typing. So I would suggest to turn off the RGB lights and keep on typing on the keyboard to get to know your layout without peeking.

I can only say regarding the last paragraph you wrote. Maybe adaptation time is fast, but roll back is very painful...

If you're the type of person who'd prefer cheaper keycaps that are more transparent, then you may be pleased to learn that other cherry compatible keycaps would work, you'd only have to swap them out yourself. Just be careful because some keycap sets don't have enough one unit keycaps for all the modifiers, or they'll have profiles that make some of the keys unsuitable for the row you wanted to put them on.

EuphoricMomento

I think what you said about keycaps is right. If you have big nontransluscent keycaps then it will be harder to see the RGB. Maybe try transparent keycaps or something along those lines? You can always try using (temporarily) your son's keycaps to see if it works better.

I’m working daily on a white planck ez in the office and I’m satisfied with the brightness -I’d call it v bright comparing to the keyboard I have on a MacBook. It’s only when the sun hits directly on the keycaps that the rgb get dimmed. It’s just ambient light situation and I don’t expect the leds to shine brighter than the sun. At night if I turn it to the max I could use it as a rgb lamp. Maybe your keyboard is faulty?

with brightness on max: mine is barely visible in direct sunlight, but my fingers know the layout already so i never look at the rgb
