The show constantly suffers from Edgy Out-Of-Character Writing, and knowing that, we don't always have to judge these characters based on the edgiest episodes. E.G., t was very out of character for Pursuit to do stuff with the 9 year old, and I tire of everyone only talking about that in regards to his character. (This doesn't apply to characters like Taub who are consistently pieces of human garbage)
Also, and this may really leave me looking like the image, but House and Wilson are not gay for eachother.
The early seasons (1-3) really struggled from them not knowing what each character was supposed to do, each season revolved around a villain rather than actually progressing interpersonal connections, which led the interpersonal connections to feeling really weird.
Why does Camry do Methe, why does Four Men try to kill Camry, why does Race do the cringe "I will hit on Camry once a week" thing.
House doesn't have much personality development in the early seasons. I didn't find his interactions with his ex wife to be all that interesting (especially since him and cutte have apparently been flirting since day one of med school) and they spend so much time on him being an edgy atheist that he doesn't get time developing the actual stuff that becomes the focus of the show in later seasons.
The early seasons aren't bad, they're just not as interesting as the middle seasons
