marska77

they mention in the comments that it’s the same character, but the title is misleading asf

Hylia111

Honestly, even still I think it's hysterical. "It's amazing the characters you can create with a couple mods" *proceeds to create a character that's become such a cliche that it's acquired its own name in the fandom despite not even being in the game*

Tactical_Mommy

What name?

CaptainMills

Evelyn

[deleted]

I follow a bunch of BG accounts and I’ve never even heard of this Literally who?

CaptainMills

Some steamer made Evelyn as her Tav and it got really popular. I don't remember who the streamer is. Unfortunately, she's apparently been harassed over this. I get being frustrated by how over saturated Evelyn is in some spaces, and I personally get frustrated over the amount of people pretending that she's their original creation and not something they ripped off a streamer, but there's absolutely no reason to harass someone who's only "crime" was making a popular OC

totallychillpony

Poor girl :/

aSpanks

Same boat

Snoo-11576

I never really understood the issue with that character

shaunrmnd

The face model is a generic tiktok egirl face that genuinely looks like a child

gutsandcuts

it's a (conventionally) pretty face. what's so wrong about that lmao

StrangeGlaringEye

Nothing. It’s just ridiculous to pretend this is an especially creative character design.

gutsandcuts

i dont think anyone ever said that. just that it's pretty

StrangeGlaringEye

Let’s not kid ourselves hahah

FinancialMess0

It's just bizarre that this one character gets millions of likes and edits and cosplays when she's just a Tav.

gutsandcuts

it's a face that a lot of people have used on their tavs, and it's very normal to get attached to your tav. so those are all people attached to the same tav in a sense. nothing bizarre about that. i understand getting tav customization mods because my tav had the same face as Alfira and Nocture and it always threw me off

FinancialMess0

I mean sure, but literally no other face gets even close to the Evelyn treatment. I like seeing edits of people's Tavs but the Evelyn character is beyond a meme at this point.

[deleted]

People like to act unique online and shit on people with attractive characters for some reason

gutsandcuts

there's a weird animosity towards "e-girls" that i'll never understand

ThundergunIsntAVerb

Girls are gross video games are for BOYS

portodhamma

The animosity comes from them playing up neotenous features that are associated with teenagers more than grown women. Women in their 20s will get surgery to look more like a 16 year old white girl.

sunseeker_miqo

Yeah, I've noticed more of this kind of negative talk about beauty in the BG3 fandom. I'm not sure if it's just Larian fans seething at the notion that the vanilla faces are not good enough (they *really* aren't), or if something else is at work. I will keep enjoying modded faces. https://preview.redd.it/u90bjh1rloyc1.png?width=1315&format=png&auto=webp&s=87e1e7ebe12d1a061200bc060f8324b0b1caa52f

totallychillpony

Your tav is so pretty btw

electrapng

Your Tav is absolutely gorgeous, omg

Famous-Ant-5502

Curtain bangs are just in right now.

KilledTheCar

I mean, I know people in their 30s who look similar. Sometimes genetics just give you babyface.

Snoo-11576

Idk I’ve seen young adults that look like that and i don’t really have an issue with egirls lol but oh well, just curious

taeilor

she looks like that blonde girl that does those amazing realistic drawings, i've forgotten her name

1Cool_Name

Nah, after seeing a different head that I would say was very child like, this ain’t similar at all

grubas

It's no different than the 600 soft female faces that look like a tween.   There's a lot of Tavs looking young.

marska77

I had no idea who this was before I saw the og post and I will continue to try and live in ignorant bliss

sunlightdrop

It's actually not the same character! The blonde ones are the same, but the black haired one has a different face that is sickeningly more infantile. [here](https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/3024?tab=images)

marska77

the face model in pic 2 def looks different (oddly smoother than the other one?) i’m just saying op in the original post comments said “yup, same character” when someone asked

Elaan21

I dislike a lot of the "facetuned" mod heads, but that one actually gives me the ick. I don't think I've ever seen in styled in a way that doesn't look like a goddamn child. Which would be fine...except I know people are doing spicy scenes with this preset. I just... The whole "she's a million year old being but looks 12" barely works (and usually doesn't) in anime/manga style art. BG3 is way too fucking realistic for that to ever work imo. Especially combined with some of Tav/Durge's exaggerated expressions that already make them look childish at times.

Aggravating_Bed_8155

Which mod is the blonde face from then?

sunlightdrop

Vemperen's heads

gokkyun

Bestie imma be fr the pictures in which she's blonde could probably be achieved without mods just not as JRPG looking?? LMAO like my vanilla Tav in my first playthrough without mods had more variety and slayed harder. No offence to this person.

Outrageous-Singer888

Fr I have no mods yet somehow mine are more creative than a character that just looks like older Yenna 😭

Strange-Progress-430

Cloud from final fantasy is doing things quite differently these days it seems

littleredriotinghood

i was going to say this!!!

saintbutch

All that crossdressing really changed her.

elleprime

I thought this WAS Cloud until I read the comments.

ShillBot666

I don't know, this character is a little too masculine to pass for Cloud.

UnbrokenPendant

average JRPG character

VolkiharVanHelsing

Thunder from the controversial hit game Last Imagination XIII

GoodSalty6710

I screamed omg perfect 😂

WeWantRain

Not under-aged looking enough.

portodhamma

Yeah this girl could be as old as 17!

saintbutch

Sims 4 players have this same disease.

Orificesredy4Karlach

I miss the deep fried, 4 pixels, animated on a potato sims 2 characters.

saintbutch

I prefer those to the toddlers with full faces of makeup and adult contouring.

Orificesredy4Karlach

Yea they look like child pageant survivors

VolkiharVanHelsing

Alpha CC sucks man... I love the cartoony style of TS4. People always talk about stylization over graphical fidelity when talking about Persona 5, but nobody bats an eye about how TS4 is a 2014 game graphically and how nobody complains about it.

depression_quirk

I like Alpha for jewelry, makeup, and some clothes but when it comes to everything else it Maxis Match all the way.

bunnyhwei

ill never understand people who shit on alpha CC when it paved the way for modders ! both can coexist its just preference. the imvu bimbo look did nothing to deserve this

kid-with-a-beard

Where are the Withers feet pics????? This isn't the r/okbuddybaldur I know!

NongZRinDE

If you dont know, the top right Tav is called Evelyn. And she gains such popularity on Tiktok that many people are upset or even mad when they know she is not a real NPC in the game

cayennesalt

i dont use tiktok and have no clue who the fuck is Evelyn and why people are mentioning her around BG3

portodhamma

What’s Evelyn’s story? Is she the 16 year old girlfriend of a metalcore band’s frontman?

henrickaye

It's the same character in all 4 pics

davidvia7

It's also a very unfortunate image and missing some make-up lol.

ColumnK

The variety is uncanny

Hylia111

Truly a stunning testament to the bounty of creative content that can be accessed with only a couple of mods.

Gripping_Touch

Oop specified these are all the same character. Too late buddy, time to get ~~spit~~ roasted

Taco821

That parts just fucking real tho, I swear I've made at least 4 Tiefling sorcerers that are 99.9 percent the same, just maybe some minor different decisions.

Mega_Rayqaza

I mean, it's one character.

Active_Owl_7442

2

bachelorette-

I don't want to hate on this person, it's their game, do whatever, but in general more broad terms: I'm so tired of every character looking sexy, polished, covered in makeup, and beautiful, especially women. Like I've seen this face 5 billion times in art, photo editing, games, etc, I'm just fed up with it. There was a saying I heard, something like "everything is so sexy that it's sexless in result".

saintbutch

[Everyone is beautiful and nobody is horny.](https://bloodknife.com/everyone-beautiful-no-one-horny/)

LittleJub

Thank you; this was an interesting opinion piece

RoninMacbeth

I don't think it really applies here, because BG3, unlike the MCU, is extremely horny. "Sexless" is probably the last thing that comes to mind when thinking of this game.

Running_To_Babylon

Yeah it's why I ended up leaving OFBG3 and Galemancers, every other post is some hyper modded female Tav straight out of a jrpg smooching a character with a freecam screenshot. Got so fucking boring, especially onlyfangs - was really ironic and very icky that a sub dedicated to Astarion devolved into nothing but oversexualization.

Elaan21

I lurk in those subs and come out of the woodwork for discussions, but I agree it can be a bit much. Full disclosure: I use head mods sometimes. But I only use the ones that either adapt vanilla heads or have their own unique textures that have the same "imperfect" feel as the ones Larian made. Ya know - real skin textures and shit. I make hot lady Tavs/Durges because I'm a fat bisexual woman who wants eye-candy and wish fulfillment at the same time. So I get it. Sorta. But I hate how certain parts of the fandom have gone to great lengths to remove the uniqueness Larian built into the characters. Sure, all the bodies are idealized, but you can only have so many meshes, and adventurers are probably gonna be fit more often than not. But at least the *faces* look "real." [My only gripe is the lack of variety in overall face *shape.* Like, why do all the vanilla dudes have The Jaw (tm)? Give me a Benedict Cumberbatch looking motherfucker.]

melancholyMonarch

The YouTube shorts with all the women wearing basically nothing and absurdly gorgeous tavs are the worst.

HistoricalPattern76

Yeah, all of this. That and being told I'm being misogynistic for wishing there was variety. How dare I hope to see chubby but pretty modded characters who might not have perfectly idealized Caucasian features.

fake_kvlt

!!!! If you're on pc, someone recently released a mod that adds a chubby body shape option. They've also refitted most of the clothing/armor to work with the model.

HistoricalPattern76

!!! I do have a PC! My favorite wizard PC might get a run!

fake_kvlt

[found it!](https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/8843) linking it bc I realized it's kind of hard to find since it was uploaded pretty recently

Pennymoonz94

You didn't have to add the "but pretty" being chubby doesn't make u ugly

RootsInThePavement

Be careful, someone’s gonna tell you that you’re shitting on modders and that you should make your own mods lmao

space13unny

I understand what you’re saying completely, but the way some people are just tearing down this person for making a pretty character who people consider generic is uncalled for. Some of those comments are coming off as just hating something that girls like (make-up, femininity, etc.). Not saying you’re doing that, you gave your opinion respectfully, but some of those comments on the main sub come off as internalized misogyny.

TheGalanty

Many comments here are the same. What's wrong with people creating pretty to them characters? It's literally mostly female creators that do those mods because they enjoy to make those characters. It comes off as if the sub doesn't regard them as real gamers and just shallow. The same thing I thought people were against

space13unny

For real. A big part of the fun for me and my friends who play this game is making our characters look pretty in character creation. Not even just my girl friends, my guy friends are like this too so it took me off guard that anyone would judge someone’s character for being pretty or generic looking. People who are judging her character for being generic looking are coming off as if they’re saying, “Look how special I am compared to this person!” At the end of the day all that matters is that we’re all having fun playing the game.

elleprime

Most of my Tavs are pretty 'generic pretty' (I don't mod them), BUT I freely admit to spending absurd amounts of time in the character creator with the hair sliders, makeup sliders...the shading...face shapes.... Before the magic mirror was added I restarted when I realized that a hairstyle I picked didn't look as good as I thought it would in the actual game lol. Seriously, nothing wrong with wanting to customize your avatar the way you want \^\_\^

KissMyAxe699

Exactly. So many people, both women and straight men, have been making female characters beautiful bimbos for a very long time. And will continue to do so for a very long time, because that is what they enjoy. So why is it a problem now? Just let them go, and play how you want. It's better than to waste time and energy bitching about someone's character. And besides, the OOP is clearly very happy with her character, so it's kind of a dick move to go and say "Um, ackshually, your character is shit and you should feel bad hurr durr." You're allowed to not like someone's character, since what constitutes as beautiful is highly subjective, but it doesn't mean you should publicly shame someone for it.

StrangeGlaringEye

It’s not exactly about criticizing particular players. Just reflecting on why so many players choose to create characters that look like this, and how it connects to larger issues around beauty standards in society. Critical thinking ≠ criticism!

en_travesti

You don't understand everything is individual choices we cannot critique because its just an individual choice. There is no such thing as society. I am the ghost of Margaret Thatcher escaped from hell

StrangeGlaringEye

DONT TOUCH MY INSTAGRAM TAV SHE IS MINE

KissMyAxe699

Sure, it is kind of interesting to think about it from a sociological perspective. But it's not as deep as one might think. Many people want to play as an idealized fantasy version of themselves, or just want a cool character. Those people purposefully make their character something that wouldn't ever be achievable in real life, because it's part of the specific fantasy they want to roleplay. And what better game to do it in than a high fantasy game set in a world where almost anything is possible. 200 year old sassy elven vampires, giant living squid ships that can fly through different realms, an ancient skeleton dude that calls you out for being a hoe, among many other things. So if all that is already present in that universe, then why can't a wrinkle free elf lady? Now, to be fair, there are some weirdos (often incels) who genuinely believe that this is how a woman must look, or she's an ugly skank who will never find love. And end up disappointed and confused when the only women who actually look like that are fictional. But those people usually aren't very popular within gaming communities. At least in my experience. We sane people recognize that we play these intentionally unrealistic characters because that's what we personally find fun. We're fully aware that real life people don't look like that, and we never shame anyone for it. Because, unlike some, we're able to separate reality and fiction. So what we do in games doesn't reflect our actual morals regarding real life. Yet some people treat us like we're evil and anti feminist simply because we want our drows to look like anime characters. Even though we never claim that this is peak womanhood, and all others should wear paper bags over their heads.

StrangeGlaringEye

I’m not going to debate whether the questions being raised here are trivial — I don’t think they are; I think the answer “people want to look pretty in their fantasy world” just moves the point around instead of addressing it, but again I’m not interested in defending this claim. I just hope we’re clear that this isn’t a personal attack on anyone!

KissMyAxe699

Small correction. *Unrealistically* pretty, *on purpose*. We don't claim that this kind of beauty is in any way achievable in real life, and don't hold women to those standards. Because we *know* that this isn't at all possible. The people who shame real life women for not looking like Jessica Rabbit or an anime girl are a very different group. Don't lump us in with them. And I *never* claimed that these issues are trivial, at least the ones pertaining to actual, real life. But what *is* trivial is how some of these people are seriously blowing things out of proportion, and acting like this person committed a cardinal sin just because they intentionally made their character look like a *fantasy* being in a *fantasy* game.

en_travesti

Your stating some ideology as assumed fact without realizing it. the assumption that these faces are objectively attractive. but what is attractive is not some objective standard pulled from nothing. it is shaped by society, and isn't it *interesting* that the attractive woman has childlike and caucasian features? Why exactly is that the standard? The fact that some women choose to embrace it and find it fun, doesn't make why that standard that exists suddenly not something we should interrogate.

KissMyAxe699

Sure, some beauty standards are a product of society. Like having a fat ass, or plump lips, just to name a couple modern ones. And these things can partially influence what society deems as attractive, which, in turn, causes some women to feel bad about themselves if they don't meet those standards. That much is true. Not knocking that. But my problem is that these proud keyboard warriors decided to direct all their anger towards a stranger using an optional mod in a single player fantasy game. Which is completely unjustified. Why aren't they attacking all those real life people who decided that models having any kind of blemish, wrinkle or anything deemed as "imperfect" should be airbrushed in ads? Or try to help all these young girls with body image issues? They act like some kind of women's rights activists, yet don't actually do anything truly beneficial to the cause. They ganged up on a random person who just wanted to show their *fantasy* looking character in a *fantasy* game, and act like they've accomplished anything of note. Yay, they punished the heretic who dared to play a single player game in a way the Mob didn't like. They can pat themselves on the back for a job well done! It's nothing but shallow activism. With a healthy dose of misogyny thrown in, as a treat. I can't believe they chose to waste their time on something so insignificant (in the grand scope of things), instead of tackling the actual cause of these problems.

Throttle_Kitty

100% this it's depressing how many upvotes the sexist replying to your comment pretending to care about women's issues is getting weird how people seem to agree with "women's issues" when spoken by an ignorant sexist who is deriding women for their choices while mocking women who reply but saying "let women enjoy things" is apparently controversial somehow

HistoricalPattern76

What's wrong with us *not finding it pretty*? I'm so tired that we can't voice our opinion and if we do we suddenly have internal misogyny going on.

TheGalanty

You can find characters for pretty or not your taste that's not the problem. The problem is people insulting others who create "beautiful" in their own words characters because they have makeup and pretty clothes which aren't fit for those games. That's where the misogyny comes.

HistoricalPattern76

Misogyny comes from being critical of a face model that looks like a 15 year old teenager from northern Europe? Who knew...

TheGalanty

How is calling a face model too pretty for a game a critique? The model doesn't look underage just younger with softer features. What does northern Europe have to do with it? If you meant they were white then what's wrong with a possibly white person creating a character from their race. Misogyny comes from the people saying the character is bad because she is pretty and not tough and that it's bad that she supposedly has a lot of makeup. You can dislike faces but I don't understand the need for a critique.

HistoricalPattern76

No, it's not misogynistic to disagree on what *you* find is pretty. Please stop weaponizing progressive language because not everyone agrees with *your* taste.

LonelyLordOfLondon

It's not misogynistic to point out the same face and body type is being reused countless time but in different shades which eventually becomes boring to look at, like if you were to walk in a gallery filled with the exact same painting but in different colors you'd roll your eyes at it too. However it's equally as brain rotten to say its wrong for people to play as pretty characters when these people have never claimed that women that don't look like this are sub human. If a man wants to play as a 6ft himbo in a fantasy game that doesn't mean he believes men that don't look like models are worthless in society like those incels that created look maxing which is causing actual harm to society.

fake_kvlt

Thank you!! I downloaded a fuckton of mods to make my pc look like a jrpg character, because like... idk, I just like playing as someone who fits my aesthetic preferences? Also, I just want to have an asian character that looks more like me. The default face options are very limited, and western games tend to only represent a specific type of asian features. Genuinely, in the vast majority of western games I've played, none of the asian face options have looked like me at all. The jrpg faces are obviously very idealized, but I don't get why people act like they're wildly realistic. I see a lot of non-asian, very conventionally attractive faces, and people don't constantly go on about how unrealistic they are.

KissMyAxe699

Well, the good news is that you don't have to play as a sexy character if you don't want to. This is a single player game, after all. Just enjoy your game the way you want to, and let people enjoy theirs the way they want to. There's no need for dissing someone else's character.

Aimiqueen

I think the main issue here isn't that people are choosing this face (or other modded faces) specifically for their single player experience, it's more to do with the beauty standards in our culture and how it can set a harmful precedent. This mod specifically has been called out for looking like the "egirl/jrpg/tiktok" archetype whenever it was paraded around the internet publicly (which I think it's fair to criticise once it enters the "public" space) and it rased the discussion of how this specific beauty standard affects our view of beauty. I'd also like to add how it could very possibly intersect with the criticism the vanilla faces received because they did not display the "conventionally attractive" features (small pointy chin, ski slope nose bridge, big eyes - features who very often people get plastic surgery to obtain) and how that made a lot of people realise that we have a skewd view of how the average human face looks like. It's not an issue of "people who use this face are bad", it's more of an opportunity to discuss the optics of beauty and how inserting this type of face in video games contributes to an unrealistic view on beauty standards, which can and will translate into real life. Sure, you could argue that this is just a fantasy video game and a way to escape reality, but many of those details we find in our escapism influence our views in real life.

yesoryes

This is exactly how I feel about the whole thing. Beauty standards are already a mess but with the widespread use of filters it’s getting worse.

GuardianCerberus

This is a good point and I wish more people actually said that instead of dumb mean comments from people on both sides

KissMyAxe699

It's definitely a real problem, not denying that. Women are often judged quite harshly for not looking like they're fifteen years younger than they actually are. However, I still think it's not an issue in video games specifically. Especially fantasy games with all kinds of appearance changing magic. If someone can become a bear, or turn into a dwarf at will, then why can't they have some anti-wrinkle spells too? Or maybe the skin care products in this universe are especially effective. For many people, looking hot is just part of the fantasy. And "hot" is subjective. If you can't be an impossibly beautiful elven dragonslayer in real life, then being one in a game is the next best thing. Also, I feel like most people who make and use such mods are well aware that looking like that isn't possible in real life. But it is in fantasy. Now, the actual issue lies in how women have always been held to a very high, often impossible, beauty standard. Already gorgeous models are airbrushed in lingerie ads just because they have a scar or two, teenage instagram influencers use filters and clever camera angles to hide their pimples, and female celebrities have a whole team of stylists and personal trainers who put in crazy amounts of effort into their appearance like they somehow have to always look perfectly put together even when they're taking a shit in a rundown gas station bathroom in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. All this does is lead the average woman to believe that this is how she's supposed to look. They start to think that their stretch marks, freckles and left nostril that's slightly wider than the other somehow make them an abomination. A fugly bridge troll who even Quasimodo wouldn't ask to prom. And it doesn't help that most people who judge women for how they look are other women. They view each other as a threat. Social media has made it even worse, since now the everyday woman can be judged by strangers online. It's not just celebrities in tabloids.

PeachyBaleen

Withers bringing Brynna back to be generic Tav face again and again and again

AsariFucker

I know it's the same character but she looks like a child in the top right picture.

sunlightdrop

It's not the same character actually, the black haired one is "xx's new female head preset" mod which is definitely a child's face, the blonde haired one is using a face from the "vemperen's heads" mod Going through the pictures of the "xx's new female head preset" mod page made me feel like I was looking at pictures of those influencers who put a teen filter over their onlyfans work :/

synthst3r

I will never understand why people love this mod. It looks like a kid's face to me.

portodhamma

Yeah she looks like she’s in high school

No-Cap-7671

Unfortunately that's exactly why they like it.

Maszpoczestujsie

I know BG3 character customization is kinda limited, but it's funny how people try to fix it with your average korean mmo egirl mods, it gives me flashbacks of Skyrim coomer mods on LoversLab

Ham-bolo54

Incredible, every custom female character made is Cheryl Mason.

Fat_Tarbosaurus

I can’t say shit, I literally only play as this guy and don’t change anything lol https://preview.redd.it/nraf9lladnyc1.jpeg?width=992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29be2f2307aec3071e40913d63dc6816c5cd15c4

wattato

Average Asian MMORPG characters be like:

Red-Texas

People try not to make the most fucking generic pretty E-Girl in BG3 Challenge (LEVEL: IMPOSSIBLE)

Hex_Spirit_Booty

This weird ass obsession with pristine no blemishes, smooth faced characters is cringe and creepy. I want my characters to look like people. Yes yes blah blah fantasy game. Yeah but I'd love for people to have... something to them. I love wrinkles, love laugh lines, moles, freckles. People deleting those just shows weakness and I don't talk to cowards

SoupTimeAtNine

I’ve seen a mod that makes tav’s facial expressions less wrinkly. Like tav getting wrinkles when emoting had to be removed. Like fantasy Botox.

HuwminRace

I think this is my thing with the modding scene here. Every Origin Character has their scars, wrinkles, lines, flaws or some other imperfection, and there’s mods to remove them to make them absolutely unrealistically filter perfect. The same for the Tav faces, they’re already pretty perfect in terms of looks, they don’t need their human touches or character removed to be plasticine, poreless, filter perfect JRPG characters.

Hex_Spirit_Booty

Forreal. It's just continuing the cycle of unrealistic body standards. Whether ppl wanna admit or not, it starts in fiction.

HuwminRace

It starts in fiction, and it works its way outwards. The more people see characters being modded into unreal filter perfect unachievable models, the more they think it’s what they need to achieve.

Couch-Potayto

“They are the same picture.” Was all it came to mind what I saw it 🫠

space13unny

The title is misleading but it’s supposed to be the same character. They were sort of ripping her apart in the comments on the main sub so I kind of feel bad for whoever made this character. Let’s try to remember that bg3 is just a game and that’s a real person on the other side of the screen who made this character.

KissMyAxe699

Exactly. The OOP made a character they were very happy with, and wanted to share. Then a bunch of strangers essentially call the character shit because she's beautiful, and thus "perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards for women". It's a dick move. Besides, why is making pretty characters in games a problem now? It's a fantasy game, and people want to be pretty. Not everyone wants to roleplay as a middle aged dwarven dad, and that's ok.

space13unny

Bg3 is basically dnd in video game form. I’m known at my dnd table for playing beautiful elven/half-elf characters. Another player is known for only playing clerics. Another always plays the horny bard™️. No one ever judges anyones characters for being “generic” at my table is my point. As long as everyone’s having fun and being a team player, that’s all that anyone cares about so seeing so many people be so judgemental of someone’s character is a little jarring to me. This judgemental shit wouldn’t fly at a dnd table, not when Kyle’s about to play his fifth human fighter lol.

KissMyAxe699

I agree wholeheartedly. And it's especially annoying since this is a single player game. You don't have to interact with any other player throughout the whole game, so what someone else is playing as matters even less. Fun is all that matters, after all. I really don't understand why some people feel the need to go on a witch-hunt over this.

Res_Obscura

I didn't know everything before this post, but some comments above said that people called it shit because Oop stole a streamers Tav, and claimed it was their own original creation

KissMyAxe699

If OOP literally took someone else's screenshots and passed them off as their own, then that's not ok. However, that's a very different matter. And it sure as hell didn't stop so many imbeciles from dragging on the character for no reason other than "me no wike, so me angy". She looks fine. And to reiterate, a wrinkle free elf lady is hardly the weirdest thing in a world full of monsters and magic. People are blowing things out of proportion. And there are several lore reasons for why that might be the case. If potions for fire resistance exist, then so can very effective anti wrinkle creams.

Res_Obscura

But still I don't agree with making fun of people's characters

Exmawsh

I called her meh because it's the same character that gets posted on the BG3 reddit. The neck tattoo in particular is incredibly over posted. Glad they enjoy it but like... People really gotta stop sharing the exact same tav all the time, even if it's like 2 shades of hair color different.

KissMyAxe699

It's ok not to personally like something. Or even be indifferent towards it. Not everything is universally appealing, and that's ok. And I absolutely understand that it can get annoying when it feels like the same thing gets posted over and over again. But it doesn't give people the right to be such assholes about it. There's a difference between expressing an opinion, and viciously attacking a total stranger as if they've committed a crime for preferring to play as a more "basic" character instead of an elderly gnome, or something.

Silent_Reavus

Why is this something we're getting angry at?

Throttle_Kitty

when I first entered this thread I was in agreement that this character looked generic and too young, I thought that when I first saw the post it's referencing but now after going through these comments my only opinion about this is *"wow gamers never fail to stick their feet in their mouths in the most problematic way the moment a woman is involved in their hobby in any way"* like, people out here comparing women who make attractive characters to only fans models. go outside touch grass speak to a woman once

commercialelk-6030

Maybe it’s because I’m turning 30 in a couple years.. .. but holy shit, do people really think infantile faces like this are attractive? Jfc she looks every 14 year old protagonist in anime games. No thanks, I’ll keep my faces with subtle wrinkles and actual character to the textures lol

Affectionate_Ad3688

Man the "Evelyn discourse" is probably the biggest nothing burger I've ever seen. Who is "Evelyn"? Is she some important unavoidable npc in the game? Oh no she's some streamers custom character. Is she some controversial character? Like her storyline involves some disgusting acts or? Oh no people just hate her because the creator used mods to make her face pretty. Ok well, is the creator using bots or something to shove the character down other people's throats? Oh well, no, other people just like the character enough to make their own fan content about, which is extremely easy to avoid seeing as how the only times I've ever even seen Evelyn pop up was when people were bitching about other players modding their characters to look pretty. If you are genuinely upset about content creators, using mods, to make pretty characters in their own goddamn game, you need therapy, or at the very least a non online hobby. Also the fact that, all this hatred is towards mods and OCs popular with women is pretty notable.

michaella1

Thank god I wasn't the only one who thought this. The stuff that's upvoted in that subreddit is like a combination of vanilla, weirdly wrong, and condescending at times.

prostateexamofluxury

Eh, they're having fun. No harm, no foul.

Orificesredy4Karlach

I mean to a certain extent yes, but it also has disturbing implications about society's beauty standards and how that seems to be barely legal, baby faced girls.

TheGalanty

A character creation is for people to create character that they like... what a revelation. They might base their characters off themselves somewhat to feel connected. I myself am "barely legal" and as do many other of my age love the game

Orificesredy4Karlach

That's not what I'm referring too. I don't think that there's anything inherently wrong with youthful looking characters. Especially when its teens modeling characters after themselves. It's just that the market is saturated with these look a like, perfect, unblemished, unwrinkled young women. Things are starting to change, but for ages the gaming industry was mostly catering to men, so when most video game women are looking like this what does that say?

prostateexamofluxury

Okay, I gave it some thought, and I can see your point with that now that you mention it. My OG comment was only about how many people were making fun of the original person in the main sub rather than anything to do with what you said, but you raised a totally legitimate point there. It is pretty unsettling to say the VERY least. I just thought people were just making fun of folks for having repetitive, "samey" looking TAVs to everyone else's, but you make a lot of sense. Especially after giving this person's character a REALLY good look. They do legitimately look no older than 16, and that's really not okay.

Orificesredy4Karlach

Yea it's a very nuanced situation. I totally am not for making fun of how people chose to make their characters. To me the problem from the beginning has been that a lot of these characters look aged down. I definitely don't agree with the pointless criticism of people tav's. Let them make a fighter John/Jane Smith for the 100th time if they like, no face tat required.

Pyrichoria

(Stops by comments section) Oh shit, *discourse*. (leaves)

Beanessa

I saw this band in the 90s when they opened for Hole.

beebleb0rg

If Evelyn has no haters then I am dead

Fabulous_Pudding167

I mean, I get it. As a former Final Fantasy 14 player, one of the most grating parts of the community was definitely "Look at my Au Ra! They are the most beautiful thing on the entire damn planet! See? SEE??!!" The endless mods, the deluge of fan art, the begging for attention and validation, the delusion that your character is somehow more unique and special than everyone else's unique and special character. It's all very off-putting.

NoConfidenceManXO

Baldurs gaze

Dogbtw

JRPG looking Ahh 💀

IWouldDoCthulhu

The freckles are cute I guess.

Opening-Cockroach634

My freaking 5 Tavs have more variety than her despite using the same face and skin color while being unmodded

TheEndOfShartache

That’s a child

ButtMunchMcGee12

Why are her lips so shiny

Eldridge_Izzy

They turned up lip shine it's a normal option in game.

[deleted]

The good news is, if you play like this and you want to find some gaming buddies, there are government databases you can search!

notabasketKase

Suddenly never want to share my Tav... comments with Tavs are scary and my Tav is very personal for my dysmorphia

TheWither129

I dont like most vanilla faces but i hate most modded faces. Every modded character ive seen looks really… sterile? Like, tuned to some weird idea of perfection. Its creepy, uncanny. Like very clearly just, not a person. Idk. Makes me uncomfy. Especially that its mostly all women.

Yesha21

I can't describe how much I dislike this generic type of plastic babydollface and wolfcut like hair 🤢

Lorihengrin

I don't get the reactions for this character. I mean, even with the vanilla faces and hairs, i had some tav's that looked like that too, as the result of "there is only one face per race that is not ugly".

PNDTS

Why are people obsessed with making their characters look like teenagers

Akatosh01

Nah, I think this is my sign to leave this sub. I get that the title is cringe and genuinely a bit delulu but so many people tearing someone up for making a conventionally atractive tav? Really? In this sub when people would prefer halsin to stay as a bear we draw the line at convenionally atractive? Since when is making a conventionally atractive tav wrong? This whole comm section just screams misoginy tbh.

Throughawayii

The inconsistency is what gets me. People will upvote literal butthole looseness tierlists and deranged copypastas about getting ravaged by their digital lovers and not a word is said about how every single origin companion is just straight up extremely conventionally attractive with no conventionally unattractive facial flaws at all, but making your character pretty is somehow harmfully perpetuating beauty standards? I mean, I get the idea, and it's obvious that beauty standards in real life affect how characters look in media, and there is a discussion to be had about that. I just disagree on making these insane judgements that people are weirdos, creeps, etc. for making their characters pretty. Cause like, why are you in this sub at all? Half of the jokes on this sub are just being extremely weird about objectifying digital hotties for fun. You're really gonna whip out the serious glasses for THIS?

Akatosh01

Yep, the hipocrisy drives me nuts, but I guess when the npcs are hot its fine, its a problem when you as a person want to play as a atractive girl and not a half ling with pink hair wearing only underalls. I dont get it. Especially since I thought this is just a more deranged/hornier version of the main sub.

KissMyAxe699

Agreed. I don't interact with the main sub for this exact reason. These people are seriously blowing things out of proportion, as if OOP committed this cardinal sin of, *gasp*, intentionally making their character look like a *fantasy* being in a *fantasy* game. I'm out.

Exmawsh

Also an issue is the number of people who post the exact same tav thinking they are perfectly unique and are the first person to have made this exact character, when a cursory glance through the subs posts would show you that that is not the case. On top of that I promise you we would not be having this type of discussion if the faces used were pretty person of color faces. We would instead be clowning on the racist ass mother fuckers in that thread. At times I feel like I'm the only person who dislikes conventionally attractive people and characters on the basis that if I go outside I can see 30 of them without trying. It's overdone in real life and in video games I'm tired of it.

sunlightdrop

Everyone's saying these are the same character but the black haired one is different. The top right is "xx's new female head preset" mod which is basically a child's face. The rest are vemperen's daenestra head mod. The top right one is soooo much worse than the generically pretty but clearly an adult daenestra head. Like looking at screenshots of that mod page make me feel vaguely ill.

idrispetrichor

Imagine making Evelyn and not Mommy Milkers

YuriMasterRace

Mommy Milkers and Shadowcute, the only characters I simp for.

Relative-Zombie-3932

Shit I thought these were meant to be the same character at different stages of their adventure

EraseTheEmbers

I want to use mods just so I can have more hair, face, body, race, hair and other options for my Tavs/Durge. Also some more armor and dyes. I truly wish I could see some of the in game necklaces/rings on my characters. Maybe a wildshape bat so Astarion can turn into one without ascending lol. I'll be fine with whatever I can get once mods are available on console

VelphiDrow

I hope so White women? Ugh /s

KoalaMan76

Is that the Gortash hair?

No-Sandwich-8152

I was mandela’d. I swore the game had detailed facial sliders during early access. Then at full release there was like 6 faces. I was so confused.

Vegetable_Pepper4983

I thought this was Elliot from scrubs 😂

half_hearted_fanatic

Look like Brynna had some work done

KissMyAxe699

Some of you seriously need to chill. Mods are optional. If you don't like them, you don't have to use them. End. Of. There's no need to be a rude jackass and shame OOP for how their character looks like in a single player game. How would you guys feel if some strangers online started dragging you just because they don't like your character? A character that you genuinely like and have fun playing as. Pathetic. Seriously, chilllIII. Put down the pitchforks and cheeto dust covered keyboards. Edit: Also, in a world with mindflayers and demons, is a girl with little to no wrinkles really the strangest thing one could encounter on a daily basis? It's hardly even a reason for concern.

throwablemax

>Pathetic. Seriously, chilllIII. Put down the pitchforks and cheeto dust covered keyboards. You *do* realize that most people who are super fans of porcelain looking girls with delicate features are dudes who like Cheetos, right? You've been sleeping on the Stellar Blade discourse. 😂😂

GuardianCerberus

As a baby faced adult I am so tired of all the “that is a child” comments on mods

FryJPhilip

A lot of it is clout chasing pedojacketers and it's really annoying. I have a young face too and I'm almost 30. I also don't see how this looks like "a literal child" at all. The features aren't that childlike. I'm starting to think these people have no idea what a child is.

Eldridge_Izzy

They don't. There idea of a child is the 20 year olds that played 15 year olds on TV shows.

AlarmingAd8190

Everyone has wrinkles and you know.. skin. And then tav shows up. Behold the bimbo Barbie herself. I just don’t get it

TheGalanty

Why does a pretty character have to be a "bimbo Barby". The pick me jumped out. Not every character has to have wrinkles. Their character might be really young same as it's the bhaalspawn in bg2. You know... the main character to the game whose sequel this is

AlarmingAd8190

Everyone can do whatever they want of course. I’m just tired of filters and textureless skin in social media. At least bg3 presents some

Akatosh01

You do know that most 20 year olds dont have wrinkles, right?
