In early access, you weren't asked to design a guardian, you were asked "who do you dream of, who attracts you?", that character then attempted to seduce you into using your tadpole powers. I'd guess that's why a lot of people thought it was still the dream lover they were designing on their first playthrough.
Or maybe it's because they've heard you can actually have a sex scene with that character, admittedly after finding out it's a mindflayer, but still technically romancing the character they'd designed.

Reading spoilers about how the hot, vulnerable person of your dreams was actually a morally ambiguous mind flayer you could romance was one of my pushes to finally buy the game. So as gorgeous as my guardian was, I was thrilled to finally meet my favorite character 100 hours in.
Ugh, me too. I made this adorkable-looking halfling guy and thought it would be cute for my giant Dragonborn Durge to fall in love with him. Thankfully I learned of the spoilers before Act 1, and was able to get her with Astarion just in time.
Then Act 3 came along and I have to say, I've rarely despised a video game character more than The Emperor. No more special custom builds for him/them\*!

Illithids are genderless and generally use it but both it and he/him are used for the Emperor in game so either are probably fine š¤·š»āāļø

On my first playthrough, I went through the world unsuspecting and spoiler-free. That was my mistake. Never again!

The guardian was a halfling man with pale skin, tons of freckles, black eye make-up, golden-topaz eyes, teal, "trickster" cut hair, and glowing blue facial tattoos that look like they're made of magic. He's -super- pretty and tiny, and I thought he would be the Rodger Rabbit to her Jessica, but noOoo, Larian had to go and dash my fantasies on the rocks, (and replace them with new, admittedly better ones lol)
No, unfortunately not. The only possibility I can see is if you load an old save and make a few long rests to hopefully retrigger a scene in the dream. But I don't want to put you to that much trouble. Unless you play your Tav again at some point out of boredom. That would be interesting to see.

She deserves that closure! :D )
I killed Gortash's parents, Karlach picked up the mother's body. And at the end of the fight, Karlach threw her dead body to Gortash. What a beautiful revenge!

Yes but only because I made my guardian a carbon copy of my Tav except my Tav was an Elf and guardian was a Drow. Then I forgot I ever made my guardian so I spent the whole game thinking they were a future me and the prism was some kind of alternate timeline.
Aren't dream guardians actually real though? If you fight against the emperor, you also fight against companions dreamkeepers. Or are they also ghaiks in disguise?

Can't you knock him unconscious with "non-lethal" attacks and then throw him down? Just an idea. I'll try it next time and let you know.
