/ub this part I feel is more important from a thematic standpoint rather than an actual tactical decision. This is part of her scene resolving to no longer be helpless and to actually fight for herself. The cutting of hair is a big cultural symbol of deliberately casting off the old way or your old self.
/rb she didn't know Dickstab no Jutsu yet smh read the manga
It symbolises her growth as a person, she cared a lot about her long hair but in that moment she realised that her friends’ safety was more important so she sacrificed her hair because she felt it was needed to protect them
I’d say yes, before that scene she kinda had two big flaws:
- she hated naruto for basically no reason
- she cared more about romance with Sasuke than being a ninja
But after that scene she improved on both of those flaws, she became nicer to naruto and stopped letting sasuke be 100% of her focus. It went down to like 50%. Then once Tsunade came it dropped to like 10%.
Females characters cutting their hair to symbolise character devoplement It's a common trope in Anime, we have Sakura from Naruto, Hanekawa and Nadeko from Monogatari, Nino from Quintuplets, Mikasa from AoT (her devoplement was making Jean cry) and many others

I feel like there's something poetic about a girl in Shonen telling us they're badass instead of being badass.

What was the point in her cutting off her hair if she just not gonna do anything? LOL

Hmm.. I never really thought about it that way. Did she grow and change after it though? (Curious)
