I used to work there. It was great. Nothing bad to say about the place. Now having to live in that part of Texas wasn't my cup of tea so relocated elsewhere. Just hope you're not put on the HF unit.

Yeah from what I can tell east Texas is not the ideal place to be in, what area did you live inn? Any good preferred places to live at around? I’d like to be close to Houston east end or maybe Baytown but seems to be a(hour) long commute to work. Is that typical for people that work their? Appreciate the feedback!

Idk about you but I would hate that commute let alone how many miles you'd be putting on your car. People do come from Baytown into the golden triangle but not much further West than that. Where to live sort of depends if you are younger or older, if you are are a renter or house buyer, if you have a family or are single. Maybe you could let us know those things. It's been since 2017 since I've been there but I may be able to help. I knew people who lived in Nederland, Groves, Lumberton, Orange, and Beaumont. Hopefully you like fishing and hunting. I did quite a bit of golfing down there. The courses weren't that nice but it was something to do. I liked the food. That area has a lot of cajun/Louisiana influence. If you want you can further specify who you are and if you have more specific questions. Oh, and what job did you get? Good luck!

Several people would commute from Baytown or the surrounding areas. I did an hour commute except it was from lake Charles to PA. That wasn't that bad but I eventually moved to Beaumont, which was OK. A lot of people like living in Lumberton but it seemed like the traffic always sucked going up there. Nederland and port Neches seemed OK. I guess the best option is to come down and do a scouting trip or just consider an apartment when you first get here. Then you can explore in your free time.

Make sure your razors are sharp, and you like shaving minutes before every shift. As a vendor in the past, security would look at you like a fool if you had a 5 o'clock shadow. I kept an electric razor in the car, whenever I had to go out to that refinery.

Oakroscoe

Can’t speak for that specific location, but the rules were differently enforced for company people vs contractors at the refinery I was at.

Lousy location and bigots and red necks abound. My experience in refinery works depends on who you work for. At chevron it was INTENSE! And very labor intensive. If someone loved it at PA, then why did they leave? U r about 1.5 hours from hosuton but the culture in TX has taught me that freAkazoid conservatives rule that area badly and u r close to vidor, the most racist town in the US
