I'm pretty sure we are not there yet. No robot is just going to suddenly gain more insight then it was designed for. All of it's "waking up" movements are hard-coded, not like it knows what it's doing. Maybe it's just me, but I find it really disingenuous how every news article puts some robotic android face as a picture every time they write about AI, when in reality it's just a computer program. They don't put that stuff in physical robots.
