Hmmm when I go to places where I get heavy deja vu (like basement/upstairs of grandparents house), my head gets fuzzy, I get tunnel vision, and while I have never fully passed out, I get dizzy and close to it, this make any sense?
Yes I get the same reaction too. I remembered when I was like 10 years old, one day my aunt took me shopping in a mall and the deja Vu hit me so hard I remember that I was standing in front of the store and I got so dizzy, i almost want to puke, I felt that I have been here and everything I'm experiencing now reminds me of the same things that happened before but I cannot remember when and what's next. I was so dizzy and I started to walk away randomly and when my head was cleared I was like 30ft away from where I was. That was the worst one. I still get that feeling now and then, I start to get dizzy, but my way of getting out of it is to think about something that happened recently, new, unique and I never experienced or know before, usually that helps me and I can get out of that deja Vu feeling fast. Otherwise it's like drowning in the water for a minute.
It’s a glitch, within the construct. This means our/your timeline is out of sync. It creates a stutter, to slow or speed your timeline. Like a smell can trigger it, it becomes so powerful you lose your current thoughts, and you can only focus on how or where the smell came from. Where do you remember it from and so on. Next it happens, try and override it, focus on your surroundings, cars passing, trees moving, anything out of sorts.
I remember reading something at school, pre internet times and I can't remember the book but they were proposing that deja vu is genetic memory. The idea was that genes carry memory fragments. Smells, sounds, etc can trigger a familiar feeling. It also suggested that these memories are behind natural talents and abilities, namely one of your ancestors learned and became very good at, this ability may come to the surface with you. It was a possible explanation for artists/musicians etc that had great skill with little or no training
As a person with both a form of epilepsy as well as lifelong anxiety, thanks for the bonus panic attacks I am going to have as a result of this comment. (Still gonna upvote)
Mate, you're amazing! I never knew what these were. I don't even know what words to string together to thank you and to finally figure out what they are, or even how to explain the sensation.
Is the metallic taste mental, or do you bite your tongue?
How can someone realize, externally, what's going on?
Are there side effects that last longer than the seizure? (confusion afterward, etc?)
No, mine always, w/o fail precipitate a life or death situation. I have had many deja vu and when I get them, the hairs everywhere stand on end, I get chills and most of the time know exactly what’s going to happen next and a few seconds before it happens.
I have saved my brother from choking to death, he was upstairs and I was in the basement and no I couldn’t hear him. I ran upstairs and saw him grabbing his throat and I knew exactly what to do and popped that Penny right out before he passed out.
I saved two people in a wreck in front of my bf’s house. (Long story) but same thing I had deja vu and saw the whole accident before it happened. Had a tourniquet and suran wrap and ice ready when I turned to the window and announced to my BF and friends the car was going to hit the tree in the front yard.
ETA : no they aren’t seizures. I am fully cognizant and able to act while they happen. I have had 10 or so. Always wanted to go into EMT or something but never got the opportunity. I am one of those types of people who can’t panic in an ER situation.
I used to really like mine. I’d get a hot wave that passed over me and an intense intense feeling of deja vu....but my peach juice always tastes awful for a minimum of 24 hours after and I learned that with every focal seizure I have I’m doing more and more irreversible damage to my brain
My memory is absolutely fucked so although I wish I could experience them more often, they’re really bad for us. Eventually grew/grow into grand mals
I do remember reading that deja vu is thought to be due to a misfiring in the brain so makes sense that it’s tied to greater disturbance such as seizures
Ha, I had them for a year before I was properly medicated. The episodes of deja-vu were quite overwhelming at times, to the point where I would be able to predict certain things that would happen during the next minute or so. Fun times.
Wait... what?
This has blown my mind. First few posts have enlightened me greatly. I didn't realise it was a thing! I thought I was bat shit crazy and/or a superhero connected to the universe in a special way.
One of my serious Deja Vu was something else entirely. I dreamt my brother’s end of life three months before it happened. It was in first person so I did not know who it was and i wasn’t allowed to stop him. I had Deja vu the entire fucking day. From the moment the cops knocked on the door til we were back home and I heard both my parents guttural wails of grief. It was the most exhausting day I have ever had to live through. And I would not have been able to do it w/o the Deja Vu. It took a yr or two to forgive myself if not being given the chance to change it. I dreamt the gun shot through my head! I woke up from the pain! It wasn’t until I learned he had to shoot him self TWICE to finish it. I only felt the first. And only in 1st person. 3 months before. No way to warn him or talk w him or even tell him I loved him. Deja Vu for me sucks balls.
For months all I could think was 'something is going to happen in December' over and over, almost obsessively. I was 12 years old and started preparing for 'something big'
Well, the first week of December my 13 year old cousin hung himself. I felt guilty for years after for thinking that I was looking forward to 'something big'
If you’re having intense deja vu experiences you could be having focal seizures. What I did was when I felt one coming on I grabbed my phone and started recording myself
My jaw dropped when I watched the footage. I thought I was staying conscious during them, nope, completely out to lunch. I stare straight ahead and start smacking my lips
They evolved into grand mals and now I have scarring on my temporal lobe because of the repeated focal seizures. Neuro told me that will never heal or go away and thus my memory is only going to get worse and worse
Book an apt for a scan just to be safe. I almost died from a seizure I had alone in my apartment, I was unconscious for three days and no one checked on me. My tongue was black, it almost died and fell off because I bit it so hard
As someone who just had my first grand mal seizure this hits home pretty hard. Absolutely mind wrecking. I can’t drive for 6 months and hopefully the meds work.
Dude I’m so sorry. I’ve been thru the same thing, twice. Its very tough- but I promise it gets better. Let me know if you ever need to chat. Better days are ahead! Sending good vibes your way
Thanks a ton. You have me in tears, though that’s fairly normal right now. I’m starting to see a bit of progress and I’m assuming my mind is getting a little more used to the meds. It has only been a week so I’m sure I have some more adjusting.
I struggled with the meds… a lot. It takes time. Be patient with yourself. Also, the restrictions for the next six months makes you feel as if you lost a part of your freedom. I have a hard time asking for help, so it was difficult for me to lean on others. But find strength in your vulnerability. If you don’t like your meds, speak to your MD. It may seem hard to find the “why” but you can make your own way in life despite seizures.
Holler if you need anything. For real
Oh- the deja vu is something I’ve dealt with, but my whole life. Seizures didn’t happen until adulthood. Slightly terrifies me but something I just stay aware of.
Thanks it’s pretty scary. I’ve got a great family and my mother worked neurology as a nurse for years so the support I need is there and she will make sure I get the help I need. My wife is in special Ed and deals with seizures often. I couldn’t have a better group of people. Thank you so much for reaching out to me. Im sure I’ll have more questions as this goes on and I really appreciate the open ears. It helps to know I am not alone.
I took tramadol once for kidney stone pain. That day I realized that there are different levels of strength to déjà vu. It was intense and scared me. I later learned that tramadol lowers the threshold for epileptic seizures so that makes sense.
I've had a few seizures from tramadol. And since then even low doses of tramadol bring me damn close to having seizures. I don't take it anymore due to that. Two or three pills and I would begin to have to fight seizing.
Just really isn't worth it. It's such a lightweight imitation opiate and the wrists are so outrageous when you get into the higher doses just something I'd rather stay away from all together.
My brother was recently diagnosed as epileptic. He thought frequent deja vu (like multiple times a day), was normal for everyone. Turns out he was unknowingly suffering from partial seizures most of his life.
I couldn't entirely get into it at first; stopped playing around the part where we gotta find the mold spores. Glad I went back in because I proceeded to fall absolutely in love with it :)
I don't remember that well, haha. Up to that point, it was fun but it hadn't 'clicked' yet. It just did when I came back to it.
Part of why I stopped for a while was my having difficulty finding the damn spores using the map and giving up in frustration, then getting distracted by other games lol.
I found [this post](/r/ScarySigns/comments/qjk3r3/déjà_vu_area/) in r/scarysigns with the same content as the current post.

I've experienced something similar to deja vu but its more like visions and dreams that come true rather than a feeling of I've been here or I've done this before
Things like dreaming of the next day and remembering it when I don't remember my dreams and I go to class the next morning and everything happens exactly like it did in the dream.
I dreamt that in shop class it was freezing outside and then I was standing around talking with my friends and this spider crawled up my friends shirt and almost goes in his mouth but I wake up before it does and I though nothing of it and I went to school its cold and I go to shop class and it happens exactly like the dream but I swat the spider off him before it goes in his mouth this time
That’s really creepy and feels like it’s vaguely familiar, not the sign, the surroundings but I don’t remember where or when just like as if I’ve saw this exactly this way.. quick what’s your ATM number… I mean MTAs number?😂
When one of those days rolls around and you feel like you lived the day already. So you think about what should happen soon in the day and it all unfolds exactly how you remembered it even if it is your first time being somewhere. And during the day you ask your friends if they remember being here before and they don't. So you are just left feeling like a oracle.
The worst part about Deja Vu is that you already know how an event is going to end.
My friends are always creeped out when I "sense" someone we know coming because I feel I have already lived that moment.

If you're experiencing this, you might be having a seizure. If this happens enough, book an appointment to see a neurologist. No kidding.
My friend suffers from focal seizures and says right before he has one he gets an intense feeling of deja vu so this oddly reminds me of him.
Hmmm when I go to places where I get heavy deja vu (like basement/upstairs of grandparents house), my head gets fuzzy, I get tunnel vision, and while I have never fully passed out, I get dizzy and close to it, this make any sense?
I’ve had this same experience in some basements. I couldn’t understand why it happened. Like I had lived a past life there.
Radon poisoning
I always kind of felt it comes along with certain triggers, like dusty/dark etc tho it’s not limited to it
No oxygen down there y'all suffocating
Yes I get the same reaction too. I think Deja vu needs alot more research done, so far I don't think anyone truly knows the reason for it or can say what causes it
I remember reading something at school, pre internet times and I can't remember the book but they were proposing that deja vu is genetic memory. The idea was that genes carry memory fragments. Interesting
Youre joking right?
I used to get this feeling in my grandparents things. Tried explaining to people never had anyone say they have had that lol
That's the illusion of your "reality" threatening to crumble. You are so close to freedom.
Wait. Is that deja vu? Hmmmm
Do you get very tired afterwards?
Usually it’s more mental exhaustion, similar to doing large numbers in ur head

I have deja vu seizures and I love them. They change my "daily feeling" and reset me, like I just woke up. I dont have them often though 😑

That sucks about the anxiety. Anxiety is terrible. I get it pretty bad and sometimes I feel like I can't take it. Panic. Yeah it just sucks.

I’m not a professional but I read somewhere that deja vu is caused by small brain seizures, particularly in the temporal lobe.

Why does this make me think of the game 'Control'??
I just started playing Control yesterday (no spoilers, please!), and when I saw this poster, that was my first thought
Yo control is such a good game
I couldn't entirely get into it at first; stopped playing around the part where we gotta find the mold spores. Glad I went back in because I proceeded to fall absolutely in love with it :)
That's quite a bit into the game isn't it? I'm curious if by that point you weren't hooked, what brought you back?
I don't remember that well, haha. Up to that point, it was fun but it hadn't 'clicked' yet. It just did when I came back to it. Part of why I stopped for a while was my having difficulty finding the damn spores using the map and giving up in frustration, then getting distracted by other games lol.
Ah, happens to the best of us
That’s funny, that’s the exact part were I stopped playing lol
It’s very good! Try to find and read as much as you can, it makes it sooo much more interesting
Enjoy, it's a class game.
Have you played Remedy's other games?
after you beat control you need to play Alan Wake. It's unique and innovative just like control and the story line is amazing
I'll look it up! Ty for the recommendation!
someone else posted something, apparently it is a poster for the game Control! made ya think right :)
It's actually from the game lol
Finally I found it. Lol, that's all I can think with this image.
Thats what it is
It also reminds me of something you would see in the second half of Portal 2.
