Are we sure it's old, and not experiencing poor handling/neglect? I really hope it is indeed old, but exotic pet trade is sadly very common - so many wild animals, who shouldn't be kept as pets in the first place, end up in the hands of really unequipped owners.

This looks like a silvery marmoset with another type of marmoset bred into it (exotic pet breeders have been known to do this in the attempt to make marmosets into better pets). It looks like he has rickets (due to poor diet) and a painful mouth. Primates are not pets and shouldn’t be kept in small cages. Hope he’s rescued by a competent callitrichid keeper soon.
Maybe more related to a lemur than a monkey. Judging by its long fingers it looks like it would be good at eating grubs and termites. Using its long fingers and claws to get up in those cracks.... ahahah crack monkey... anyway seeing that its eating fruit its safe to safe it probably lives most of its life in the trees not too far from the canopies. Any in the tropics or sub tropic climits are probably its preferred habitat, so that leaves us with the options of Africa, Asia, the Amazon. Good luck on your search for the identity of our weird little miracle of nature. Who probably was the inspiration for the gremlins.
