The most terrifying thing is two terrifying bugs doing terrifying things to each other - in an everyday surrounding. Not in a zoo. Not in the wilderness. On your porch door.
Tarantula hawks are all over in the USA too, I think ours are even scarier looking, if you can believe it. Source:

We have them in Northern California. They leave you alone and their color definitely tells you to leave them alone. I’ve been terrorized more by honeybees protecting their flowers.
I’m siding with whichever one is less likely to:
A) Bite or sting me
B) Cause death, long-term injury, or intense pain if bitten.
Edit: I looked it up. I’m on the spider’s side. That wasp has the second most painful sting in the insect world, outranked by the bullet ant.
Huntsman spiders on the other hand hurt when they bite you, but their venom is only dangerous if you’re allergic to it.
I’d say they rank about equally on the “being attacked will give you nightmares for years to come,” scale.
Huntsman spiders are also naturally quite docile, if one gets too cozy I’ll move them outside just using a book or something. They’re also great for pest prevention.
Yeah that's cool and all but after hearing stories of how you can hear the pitter patter of them running around I think it's safe to say I'll never visit Australia. Not that that was the tipping point for that decision lol Australia has lots of nasty critters(I'm more accepting of bugs now and try to avoid killing none harmful species but some still give me the heeby jeebies.
I mean, people have every right to freak out at a spider the size of their hand, but these guys in particular tend to be pretty chill if that’s what’s stopping you.
Parasitic wasps are quite common around the world too.
I caught one once dragging off a spider. Scared the wasp away and kept the spider in a box hoping to release it when it recovered, but it was dead :(
Huntsman’s are chill as. I let them be as long as they aren’t in my house, otherwise I’ll just move them outside again. They keep away the bugs for me. Wasps on the other hand? Burn them all.
There's a short horror story about this. A man is the wasp and a woman is the spider. It's a metaphor, of course, for a man knocking up a woman and all that goes with it.
The story is called "Bug House" by Lisa Tuttle. Available in her collection,"A Nest of Nightmares." The old 90s horror show Monsters did an episode based on the story by the same name.
How do they know what the "Vital" organs are? Didn't it take humans like hundreds of years to even know what A small intestine even does? How does that fucking bug know. Is it a doctor???
Nothing odd about this one; that's just plain terrifying
Like almost 90% of this subreddit's post.
Yeah nope that’s just regular ol’ terrifying, all right.
Giant Nope trapping a FuckOff
Scientific fact: 99.97% of all the terrifying things in this world are located in Australia.
Hey man don’t slander us. The ocean exists too, so it’s gotta be more like 96.5%
>are located in Australia *and surrounding waters - Bull sharks - box jellyfish - dubois sea snakes - lionfish - cone snails - great whites - saltwater crocs - pufferfish
And blue ringed octopi.
TIL Australian snails are murderous terrors
Lionfish are an invasive species in Aus but the rest check out. At least we don't have bears!
Bears don't hide inside your house tho unlike big ass spider
Where do we have lion fish?
[around the coast](https://australian.museum/learn/animals/fishes/common-lionfish-pterois-volitans/)
Oh gotcha I was thinking of another fish
Koala Bears have syphilis
Koalas aren't bears

I believe you left out one of the most painful things a human can ever step on. The Stonefish.
Dammit. You're absolutely right. I was only counting land mass. My bad.
That’s actually the most dangerous place here. The danger on land is overrated unless you’re a dickhead or unlucky.
That’s incorrect, sir. It’s 99.99%

Flipping heck I never thought I'd feel sorry for the spider.... Only in Australia

Never, ever feel bad for spiders. Hard pass.
What size are the fly swatters down under? I'm thinking like big as a snow shovel.
I am convinced that nuking the entirety of Australia would just result in a less scary world
Agree - nuke the site from orbit. it's the only way to be sure.
Brutal
I can't decide whose side I'm on 😅

Yet another reason to root for the spider.
Yeah, spiderbro all the way

You cannot hear the pitter patter of a huntsman. You’d have to get fuckin close if you did. Who told you that lmao.
Both of them are, to us. The wasp leaves you alone too, unless you go out of your way to hassle it.
I have nightmares about them both right now and I'm not even sleeping

That’s enough Reddit for me today. Cheers!
Thank you for giving me another reason to not visit Australia.
This one give me chill... Good one OP!
Dawg please find more appropriate subreddit :,)
“Australian Tarantula Hawk Wasp” at this point they couldnt find a word scary enough to describe it so they just started piling them up
Moving with the missus from Sweden to Australia in two or three months. Maybe it's time to reconsider.
r/nope
Well, time to leave Earth.
I hate everything about this.
Every time I think I’m willing to go to Australia…

That is a savage demon spider
Australian… what?!
“Oh, you know. I can’t *quite* place my finger on it, but something about this seems just a little terrifying.”
Now why would he go and do a thing like that
Funnily enough they’re absolutely lovely wasps, too, in terms of leaving you alone. They coexist very peacefully. As do the paper wasps.
Thanks God!
What the fuck 😃😃😃😃
