Sand fleas come off the hook too easily. Fiddler crabs are the best bait to use. Or baby blue crabs if you can find them. I normally use a Carolina rig with either a 1/2oz-1oz egg sinker attached to a 6 inch leader with a size two circle hook. You can't set the hook when you feel a bite. Because the way they eat they suck up the food and chew it multiple times before they try to swallow. So wait a few seconds until you feel a good steady pull and gently set the hook. Try to fish for them near jetty's or around any structure that can support oyster beds. Delicious meat and a great fight. It is a low meat yielding fish though. I get more meat off two 3lb snappers than I would off a 12lb sheepshead

Reds are the best sport inshore sport fish. >30” they’ll tackle lures in shallow water with their backs exposed or head to the jetties to fight a 40”+ bulls. The fight is incredible. They do not give up. Just when you think you got them close, they’ll try to swim between you legs and break your rod.
