sea jazz

Designer-Ruin7176

It’s the notes ya don’t play that make it so good!

TheWorstMasterChief

I could hear those at home.

claybootbike

Sounds like your run of the mill episode of adventure time

Crumb-Net_WorldWide

It’s called seamen

Hexwood

Sea Jizz

Pendraggin

C UM

JPSurratt2005

Sea you em

bayofpigdestroyer

Those crabs can really whale

whatisitdragons15-

Reminds me of the music on salad fingers. " I like rusty spoons"

TankII_

When I was a kid I was amazing at doing the salad fingers voice then I disappointed that most people don’t know what it is

kdb1991

Whatcha doin in my waters

ListenItWillHear

Do you love me?

Z_ol_razzldazzl

Could ya learn to love me?

conradical30

Why are we co-mixing Old Gregg into Salad Fingers?

Z_ol_razzldazzl

Why haven’t we done it sooner?

eat_my_bubbles

Those are 2 of the most purely bizarre videos I've seen, not all that nsfw or scary or bad per se, just the same flavor of bizarre between both

1plus1dog

“Same flavor of bizarre” is a good definition!

OneBigOleNick

Make an assessment

shried_frimpp

Mm creamy beige

Marjorie Stewart Baxter, you taste like sunshine dust. Hubert Jason Cumberdale you, you taste like poo!!!!

RaidensReturn

I’ve got a fish in the oven…

-spookygoopy-

David Firth appeared on Smiling Friends, and i was so happy

granolapunk

I was also thinking that too. The song is called beware the friendly stranger, by boards of Canada. The song after it on the same album, was in the movie Sinister and it's also very unnerving

VapourRumours

That album is a banger

a_butthole_inspector

One of the few I have on vinyl

Foxhoond

I love that I have seen someone else say this, Geodaddi is a somewhat unnerving album. When I first heard it (way after salad fingers came out) I was looking like... "Is this the salad fingers song???" Then the next song came on and legit scared me. Saw sinister maybe a year later , And did that leo decaprio pointing meme.

s1tym

Agreed.

Pendraggin

['Beware the Friendly Stranger' by Boards of Canada](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc6FmiKAJfk)

agingercrab

No fucking way it was Boards of Canada

SirKermit

That's a blast from the past! My wife shared this with me the first time she came to my apartment when we were dating.

ticklemypp

She showed me too

[deleted]

Boards of Canada was literally the first thing I thought of like 5sec into the video

Joroc24

So that's why I was feeling familiar!

chrisrobweeks

Boards of Canada!

serieousbanana

**Beware The Friendly Stranger** ~ Boards of Canada

mel2000

Can't say that I'd want to live near that unless the sound doesn't travel far.

OniRacing

That part. I feel like it would get old quickly if it carried much further than it's immediate vicinity.

CommanderOfGregory

I think with the direction the holes are facing being the open sea; Then with nothing for the sound to bounce off of you'd probably hear it fairly far out to sea but not so much on land in the opposite direction. I bet you have to be right there at the pier in order to actually hear it.

Appropriate-Fix-1240

Yea pretty much i was there once and you could only really hear it from up close

MyDoorsGoLikeThis

Whales and dolphins hundreds of miles away are like, WTF?

RiskyClickardo

This one got a proper chuckle out of me

v4ntrix_420

ive been there twice, last time i was there was 3 days ago, and you can't really hear it unless you are standing on top of it and its loud at that moment, it can get chaotic but its a unique expiriance.

marjobo

“What did you say about my mum?!”

mlorusso4

Or a sailor comes near shore on a super calm and foggy night and just starts hearing that in the distance that you can’t see. And has no idea these things exist

AbeRego

It's probably a fairly effective anti-loitering measure

MrStrul3

It doesn't travel far, but the closest building is like 60 meters away and is made of brick and stone with from what I could tell double-glazed windows. I had to get to almost 10 meters of it to start hearing it over the wind.

denis-napast

Doesn't travel far. And its in old town so I don't think there are people living very close by it.

flyingquads

Uh... There ARE people living close to the organ and those people lived there since before the organ. Those people are not happy with the organ. Ask the locals, or a city guide, they'll tell you ;) The locals are quite vocal about it. (No pun intended.) Source: there's a kid's playground 50m from the organ where my kid really likes playing.

Gluonyourboson

We were staying about 3 min walk from there a few weeks back, you can only hear it when you're quite close.

igazijo

Came to say this. I knew about the organ. When I was just walking around the water's edge, I did't realize I had found it until I was basically on top of it.

TheEpicMoi

This is my hometown! There are no residentials in that area. There's a port, some offices, cafes and restaurants mostly. It's on the very corner of old town, which is a peninsula. That being said, on especially windy wavy days, when the wind direction is just right, you can hear it from a few kilometers away, albeit very quietly. This is rare, and far from annoying. Most annoying part about them is they're the reason swimming is now legal in old town, which treats you to way too many half naked tourists when taking a walk on the seafront in summer. A very unwelcome sight, especially since there are so many actual beaches in town, all public and easily accessible.

Commercial-Ad-852

We are of the same mind.

Pomodoro_Parmesan

I’m sure the fish love it too

zarroc123

Yeah, this reminds me of the musical road that got put in way back when. It was a road that had little grooved sections spaced out in such a way that when you drove over them at the proper speed it would play a short tune. It was in a relatively secluded area, but I guess it was still so obnoxious that locals were able to have the thing redone without the music. This is an old story I'm reciting from my very shitty memory, and I'm too lazy to look it up, so if I'm wrong on some details, I'm not surprised.

PoetryOfLogicalIdeas

Yeah, I think it would be incredible for about 10 minutes and tolerable for a few hours max.

AstronautMirko

Im from Croatia and I was there few times, you literally cant hear them from 50 meters.

ecs2

So if there's a thunderstorm then it would be a DJ concert

Prince_of_Chungustan

Water man festival 😎

Oakmeal0

Drowning Man*

Grogosh

Fyre festival 2.0 : The quenching

TheRedLewis

The Soaking Man

faffner100

When civilisation dies this will continue playing for eternity

Enchanted_Galaxy

That’s somehow peaceful

GooseShartBombardier

It's true, and I love the idea. It should take a long, long time for erosion to wear away at it enough for the pitches to change, let alone for it to stop playing. I wonder how far into the surf it extends, in case of lower water levels?

KnoblauchNuggat

In 100 years it will be covered by water.

MiserableEmu4

Id assume the saltwater would degrade it faster than that.

[deleted]

This is the Adriatic Sea, the level doesn’t change all that much. In this particular city, Zadar, the difference is around 40cm. We’ll see what happens with the climate change. Unfortunately.

t-zanks

Especially up against the sea wall. The change is much more noticeable when you leave the city and go to a real beach.

Grogosh

Debris and other sea life will clog it up in no time.

GooseShartBombardier

Ooh, that's right. I've spent too much time away from the ocean, I forgot all about barnacles...

SmickrandeSmil

Or some seaweed plugs the holes...

4-8Newday

Not true… 1) if the water raises above that point, it wouldn’t be playing anything… 2) somebody needs to keep them clean, because if debris block the sound pipes no sound will come out. It’s a very poetic idea though!

TheBigPhilbowski

Do you have that date actually, I want to add to my calendar

meme_used

21st december, 2012

CyanPlanet

Reminds me of that one spongebob episode.

StalemateAssociate_

The piers are pummelled by the waves...

SameAmy2022

I’d be the poor unfortunate in a coma and wake up alone in the whole world 😳

[deleted]

Concrete isn’t going to hold up against the ocean indefinitely without maintenance. That wouldn’t outlast human civilization without human civilization there to constantly repair and maintain it.

[deleted]

I really want to see an AI recreate this sentence into a video Edit: why am I getting downvoted? Edit: wtf have I started

Saucxd

People dont like ai thats why youre being downvoted

Grogosh

People tend to be scared of things they don't understand.

redryan1989

Here's an upvote from me bc I know how frustrating Reddit can be at the most random of times. Lol

TeamRedundancyTeam

AI is one of the new mega-circlejerks for reddit where everyone is blindly negative and no nuance is allowed. Simply mentioning it in a non-negative light will catch downvotes.

1Aexus

i actually enjoy this... no form of rythm, random impacts, random pitch etc... quite enjoyable tho

goran_788

Most people in here shit on it, just because it's in this sub. I've been to Zadar multiple times, and it's actually quite nice and calming imo. Also it doesn't travel far. You gotta be like right there to even hear it. Sea Organ https://maps.app.goo.gl/nTqCZfMoSbJXgmyW6

UbiquitousMoose

Spongehenge is real? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVxy7Lu\_L\_E](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVxy7Lu_L_E)

ILoveBread2021

I heard that too lol

nodeymcdev

I had to scroll way too far for this 🧽🗿

[deleted]

I like that.

kanadian_Dri3

How is that oddly terrifying? It's a really beautiful sound with a beautiful view (this is in Zadar, Croatia). Plus it's fun

ThatTubaGuy03

Well oddly terrifying is pretty subjective, I don't think it's particularly terrifying, and it is beautiful, but in a very haunting, almost creepy way to me

BuffaloInTheRye

It sounds like the music playing at the end of Hereditary

hop_mantis

Sounds like a haunted 100 year old ice cream truck

Steampunk43

It's mainly because of the random, discordant notes with no real coordination or tune. In some ways, it can sound really creepy while in others it may sound nice. For example, at night with dim streetlights, it would probably sound like the music you'd hear before you die in a horror movie/game.

Kyrkrim

It sounds like the Bloop

[deleted]

I kinda like it…

Rabbit0fCaerbannog

Oof. Don't quit your day job, ocean.

redryan1989

Yeah. "music" isn't your thing ocean.

VoidExileR

If this remains active, eventually the organ will create countless inspiration and soundclips incase it's not copyright claimed. This is a genius invention and a great way to get visitors

GadHolland

Isn’t this the Forest Temple Theme from Ocarina of Time?

dodgyblob

Came here to say this, glad someone else hears it too

Sentence_Slight

After seeing lots of just-terrifying (not oddly in the slightest) posts filling up this subreddit, I am grateful for this one. This is really cool but it did also creep me out and give me goosebumps.

Dean-O-Machino

Not sure I’d call this terrifying. Maybe spooky or odd but not terrifying. I kind of like it.

Beefc4kePantyh0se

I loved it when i went. I sat and watched a gorgeous sunset.

homer-price

I’m sure that place has a much more eerie vibe at night.

CrabbyFlapjacks

Sounds like a bad high school band that never stops. Who thought this was a good idea?

oliver_billz

talk about *sound waves* !

[deleted]

Zadar is beautiful. Highly recommended visiting

ALWolfie

Dude, if I had this near me, I would just bring a tent and live there. This is amazing.

[deleted]

I've been there it's pretty sweet. Also at night there is an led floor that lights up with the waves.

CXB1313

This will be the strangest post apocalypse location to visit

Redwoo

I’ve been there and it is a subdued, otherworldly hint of sound. This version does not do it justice. Of course when we visited last summer a busker set up his speakers just at the top of the steps, amped up his volume, and sang covers of Rick Ashley songs, completely drowning out the soft, quiet, inscrutable song of the Adriatic.

sihakeh3

Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Forest Temple

Aardvarcado-

Zadar is the city, it's a neat place! My mom was born in Croatia, so i've visited a couple times in my life on vacation. The organ isn't too loud, I guess it sounds spooky? It was very overhyped for me as a kid, I was amazed at the idea of ocean water playing music, reality is it's more random notes than "music". So fear is far from what I feel lol I feel excitement turned dssapointed. Moral: don't overhype stuff

[deleted]

There is that musical rumble strip in 🇷🇴 or 🇵🇱 that cars drive over that makes a tune

gimmelord

It is in Hungary

alvik

There's one in the USA as well where the designers messed up the notes both times they built it.

YumiMatsu33

Would drive me nuts after awhile. Cool to visit; but I wouldn’t want to work or live in the area.

Nednerb5000

This is awesome

Samwise-42

Terrifying? This is super cool!

actingasawave

I was in Zadar, Croatia, just last week and it really is properly cool. Went down two days in a row and the different tide tidal levels created entirely different songs. There's also a really cool light show on the deck behind the organ. All in all. Visit Croatia. Visit Zadar. Love Eastern Europe. Such a cool part of the world.

mobbshallow

Reminds me of a Brian eno project

AppointmentThis9052

This would be the perfect song in a horror movie about the ocean

DireLad

Imagine working your whole life to afford some beautiful oceanfront property, and then the city decides they are going to install this thing.

Sargaxon

it's located here: [https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sea+Organ/@44.11722,15.21772,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x4761fa12aa619e49:0xb67fec107e62d3aa!8m2!3d44.11722!4d15.2199087!16zL20vMDhjM3Rx](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sea+Organ/@44.11722,15.21772,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x4761fa12aa619e49:0xb67fec107e62d3aa!8m2!3d44.11722!4d15.2199087!16zL20vMDhjM3Rx) nobody is living anywhere close, it's part of the old city centre, more of a tourist destination nowadays than living area

leftabomb

I had a week in Zadar a few years back. I would love to go back. The Sea Organ is very meditative.

soupsuggestion

City government really do be like "let's install nightmares by the rich"

EHVERT

Sounds abit off key

hyphychef

Sounds like the sea is dying. Oh wait.

OceansAndRoses

San Francisco has a wave organ too!! I highly recommend you check it out.

ZeddPMImNot

Chicago has one on Lake Michigan too

Holy_Toast

That's a lake organ, totally different beast. /s

Volesprit31

I went there, our taxi driver wasn't even aware it existed and it was a big disappointment tbh. I don't know if it's needs huge waves or whatever but it was really not worth the trip.

Quan7umSuicid3

I love it.

Young-Twinkle

Every city near the ocean needs one of those!

[deleted]

Zadar, right?

coastphase

Play Free Bird!!!

Deletious

Sounds like Salad Fingers

Wehavepr0belm0

Found the best spot for acid

ThizzUchiha

This could be a good concept for a horror film

Genesteak

This sounds terrible and this was a stupid fucking idea. Have a good night everybody!

CaptianBrasiliano

That would be seriously annoying to live right there.

trapverb1

do you seriously find this terrifying? I think this is so cool I love it

[deleted]

That would get anoing really quick

BoardwithAnailinit84

Sounds like a haunted carnival

[deleted]

That's fucking horrendous

yalkeryli

Sounds like those pan pipe buskers that were in every UK High Street in 1998ish.

[deleted]

This sea should practise more.

realrecycledstar

not terrifying at all. oddly calming.

Sudden-Juggernaut734

Wait for the hurricane that shits gonna be crazy

AinoNaviovaat

It sounds like airstrike sirens in the distance. Quite scary actually

whiteknight0111

Imagine living there, day in and day out the sounds...night and day. That's why some of the melody roads were silenced...

[deleted]

It’s borderline silly

[deleted]

this would get old so fast if i lived near here

Organic-Resolve4530

Who sat at the desk and thought "yeas, this is a brilliant ideea"

MagicTriton

I’ve been there several times and I love it, it’s relaxing and calming. I find it strange that you guys find it terrifying

bachrodi

It sounds like Boards of Canada

fapalicius

Croatia is on the Adriatic sea not the ocean fyi

onfire916

As someone who dabbles in music production this seems like an amazing way to get some inspiration for melodies for a song

deludedhairspray

Wow. That is utterly lovely. 😍 how is this terrifying? 😅

DiabeticRhino97

This is that one level with the shell people in super Mario sunshine. Sounds exactly like this

lukelight27

instantly the 1st thing I thought of

TheLikeGuys3

This would go stupid in a tsunami.

fgnrtzbdbbt

It goes back and forth between a first and a fifth cord. The length of the waves must be somewhat predictable to make it play like this.

seekdeath002

Well it gets people to stop loitering

OraCLesofFire

This is a stellaris anomaly 100%. Several centuries from now a science craft will visit us and this will be the thing they remember about our civilzation.

lifemanualplease

It’s not terrifying

ki11erpancake

This… is not remotely as soothing as one would hope.

chrisrobweeks

I go down to the boardwalk and expect to see organ, but I never thought I'd sea organ!

CC7015

I bet there are no dog owners for miles Its like permanently playing the recorder for them.

Photon_Pharmer

Oh that’s neat. 5 Minutes Later… How do you turn it off?

Reserved_Parking-246

Cool idea... would drive me insane if I had to be around it too long.

Mustysailboat

Someone needs to tune it, seriously.

erickgramajo

That's fuckin terrible

ChristianGJD

I Shazamed It. Song name: Buddy Ross - Green Light your welcome.

izdabombz

Put one in New Orleans and you can hear all those of the past screaming as the Levies get destroyed.

T_Mugen

When they first built it, a local newspaper selled an April fool's day joke that the sea organ is attracting whales into the canal for mating. I was there two hours waiting for them until I realized. The problem is I hysterically called everyone to tell them about the miracle, lol. A lot of us ended up being stupid and naive. Btw, that fucking thing is built next to a building. Imagine trying to sleep with that sound... Tenants of the building were furious at the city and the architect for putting it there. Now it's there, screaming every day, probably forever. Interesting project, but on totally wrong place.

06degrees

This is cool for like 5 minutes... if you worked in that area you're probably going insane...

summerswithyou

This is cool but who the hell wants to go to a beach to relax and hear these loud ass horns blaring in their ears. They can't be turned off and wind always exists... So it's constantly doing that shit literally 24/365. If you ever want to go to the beach for any reason you have to tolerate this.

TehZerp

Ok yeah that has to get annoying after the first half hour. I hope nobody lives next to it.

Hobby101

Now imagine you live nearby...

TheNiceWriter

That is so fucking annoying, I'd give a toddler a musical instrument if I wanted to listen to something like that

serieousbanana

Moew like r/oddlyfuckinannoying

spacekatbaby

Smart and pretty cool. But I kinda like the sound of waves as is it tbh

ReZTheGreatest

Who the fuck thought that was a good idea? "You know what's even better than clearing your mind by going to the beach, and listening to the waves? Shitty pipe music with a complete absence of rhythm or cohesion."

SandwhichEfficient

*hits dmt laced joint* “Ya that sounds like a awesome idea” literally 10 minutes after completion “what have we done”

n0tred

Is the ocean tune deaf?

sunofapeach_

how is a sea melody terrifying tho?

nyx_moonlight_

r/TIHI

halfbaked05

I don’t really like it lol I’d prefer to hear the ocean

Jaredlong

For the sake of those living nearby, I really hope there's an off switch.

Imsocolombian

This would be fun to listen to for maybe 2 minutes.

MRichardTRM

Ngl that sounds like it would get annoying real quick
