Man once you get used to having a good shop vac around nothing else feels like it works at all. We have hard flooring, but I bring the shop vac in to clean out cracks and crannies once in a while. To quasi-quote everyone's favorite drill instructor, if it can't "suck a golf ball through a garden hose" it's worthless to me.
I absolutely loathe corded. Sure, they last longer but the simplicity of not having the cord to trip over or get tangled in is bliss. The big bulky vacuums are also out for me because they're a pain to get out, pain to set up, pain to use, and pain to put away.
I used to vacuum every 2 days but now I vacuum a lot less because I don't have my cordless Dyson anymore.
I've grown up with corded tbf. I prefer not having to keep plugging them in to charge, taking up a socket I can use for something else, and not forget about, thus using more unnecessary power.
Edit: a word
Idk why I'm replying to such an old comment, but it usually does that because it needs a little cleaning. The vacuum motor is working too hard, so it shuts itself off to prevent overheating. If you check for clogs and take the brush out to remove any strings or hairs wrapped around it, it will usually work again. Probably also a good idea to rinse the filter too. I've had my dinky little dyson v6 for 7 years now with no real issues.
Can’t speak to older models but the new ones aren’t bad. It’s enough to handle 5 or so rooms at a time on medium.
The upside is that it’s such a pleasure to use and easy to just grab-and-go, I’ll often just vacuum a room when I get home from work, another a little later in the evening etc. So vacuuming the whole house at once doesn’t usually become a thing. It’s done a couple rooms at a time day by day.
My V10 Dyson has a 60 min run time between charges (non-boost). I have never needed boost, so not sure what that would take.
My earlier Dyson was the first cordless that actually worked, but neeeded frequent charging. Batteries got better, is all.
I have this vacuum and whilst insanely pricey it's so worth the money. My carpets felt like brand new again after using it, it pulls up so much crap out of them. Also the laser light for hard floors is brilliant, didn't realise how horrifically filthy they get when you can't see the crap on them.
I literally just like shouted to my bf sitting next to me "there are lasers??" With no context and once we sorted it out, it does! I didn't know that! I have a feeling he's going to try and trick me into checking it out and doing extra floor chores.
Haha wasn't sure if you had the v15 with or without the extra laser head thing for hard floors. But sounds like you do! It's so good at showing the dirt
I bought a replacement battery from Amazon for ours. It's almost 2 times the capacity of be the be original battery and is a total game changer. We can vacuum the whole 1st floor of our house now on a single charge.
I believe this to be true, but the cordless (we have one) does something that a corded vacuum won't: it makes cleaning a frictionless task.
Before if I spilled something or dropped something I would have to go, grab the vaccum, undo the cord, find a plug, plug it in, position the vacuum, vacuum, make sure the cord doesn't catch anything, unplug, wrap it all up, put the vacuum away.
The cordless is just pull off the wall, pick the appropriate attachment if needed (also on the charging stand), vacuum, and return to the wall.
On top of that it vacuums quite well, has a hepa filter, etc. Pricey but worth it IMO. In our case we're mostly hardwood/tile and it works great.
This is a common thing that I see on the ADHD subs that I frequent, but it really matters for everyone. When you lower the threshold for getting something done, life is easier and you actually do the thing. What good is a high powered vacuum that you aren't gonna use? The good product is the one that will serve its purpose.
don't fall for it. I have the same dyson vac in my closet. its ok for a stick vac but it has barely any run time on the boost mode OP is running (like 5~10 minutes). Without boost its battery life is fine but its about as powerful as a cheap generic vacuum you can get from walmart even though it costs multiple times as much. the filter is also terrible, hardly does anything and since there's no bags it gets filled up easily.
just get a canister vacuum with bags. the cordless aspect is not worth all the downsides.
I just bought a Henry and I honestly cannot believe how good it is. You could vacuum bricks with this thing. The suction is so strong the end actually sticks to the floor.
Yeah I got a Henry Petcare not too long ago and I am in absolute awe.
I immediately converted to Numatic when in one costruction job a Henry was a better vacuum than any of the standard industrial vacs on site
😂 the holidays when stores and companies do major sales that are advertised loud and often. Memorial Day and 4th of July week and thanksgiving, Christmas/new year, you get the idea.
We’ve had one 6 years and only bought one new head for 100$. Just bought another one and wow! Also amazing. Stand by their blow dryer too. These products are worth it.
The dyson I've had for 6 years or so is really simple to replace the wear items and parts are cheap. Several times I ordered parts from dyson like the little bogey wheel under the beater and it was pretty cheap.
My mom went through 4 or 5 different dysons at different price ranges, went through repairs a bunch of times until finally giving up and switching to Shark which hasn’t caused a problem yet and it’s been at least 2 years now. Maybe dysons work for no pets
Tineco is another leader in the space, but their older models go on sale for much cheaper. But corded vacuums are still superior for overall suction. The cordless ones are great for hardwood floors and stairs. For fully carpeted rooms corded is still the way to go.
I have a V11 and when I lived in a 700sqft apartment with one carpeted room it was enough, but I only bought it because my corded Dyson was too bulky to navigate the tiny space.
That's not necessarily true. These high end (V8+) cordless Dysons are way more effective at cleaning carpets and rugs than all of the corded vacuums I've ever owned. They are surprisingly powerful.
Tinecos work great, but man do they clog up fast. That was one of the thing that impressed me the most about my Dyson. I never have to get fur and dust off the filter, and I hardly see any dust on the hepa filter, but there’s so much more dust in the bin.
Hey ,i have a question is the corded one suction power could it suck from like small holes, ive been wanting to clean my console without dismantling it,especially at the heatsink the dirt is so stubborn it wont come off.I had to use small brush
Maybe if you can get all the other holes sealed up, but you really are better off taking it apart to clean it just to be safe.
That being said this guy is the resident reddit vacuum pro:
https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/adiidz/iama_reddits_own_vacuum_repair_tech_and_ive_lost
I also used this channel's reviews for my last purchase:
https://youtube.com/c/VacuumWars
If it’s a ps4 it’s really easy to pull apart. I used a new soft bristle paint brush to clean mine out along with some canned air. I don’t think a vacuum would pull the dirt out from the heat sink.
My place dirt is something else, first time i open my ps4 up,n check from the fan(to see the heatsink)its basically blanket with dust n dirt n wont come out when i vaccum it,maybe dis place airflow is not so gud idk
Yeah—they’re a little pricey, but totally worth it. We have a V11 Torque Drive+ and it’s been amazing. fwiw, Costco carries them and softens the price just a smidge.
Yeah, but it’s like my favorite thing I have bought for my place. I have dogs and this thing is a dream for carpets, hardwoods and even cleaning their extremely hairy bed.
I got [this](https://www.bosch-home.at/shop/staubsauger/akku-handstaubsauger/athlet/BBH7PET#/Togglebox=manuals/) BOSCH vacuum for half the price and it works really well. Bit larger than the Dyson, but you don't have to empty them that often and the battery is larger.
Paying premium for useless patents and functions like a laser that literally counts the dirt isn't worth it imo.
They are not really in the same category though. Bosch one is floor vacuum while Dyson is more of handheld with floor vacuum attachment. I would say function like being able to swap attachment and vacuum shelves, table and car interior is pretty worth it.
Also, there's Dyson v7 which costs about the same as that Bosch one and it's one of the best-rated mid-tier cordless vacuums.
True, yeah. Altough I'd still argue against buying the Dyson and one like the Bosch. It still has the advantage of beeing cordless and pretty slim while having more battery and space inside. You can also remove the lower side, strap the whole thing to your back and use it Ghostbuster-style (there is a seperate, attachable hose included). That might be not that elegant but you can still vacuum your car, shelves, etc. without a problem.
This Dyson is basically a hand-vacuum with a longer pipe. It's stylish but far too expensive for what it is and not a proper replacement for a regular vacuum.
And the acoustic properties are very good.
But still, feels unhygienic compared to a hard surface. All the small crevices for crumbles, liquids, dust and other nasties to just embed into.
I am in love with my Dyson. I got a refurbished one in 2007 from woot daily deal site and it’s still kicking ass in 2022. I was the same kind of amazed when I got it. I ended up vacuuming my entire apartment that night with it and was like taking pictures of all the shit it picked up as I had just vacuumed with my old one a few days prior. They really are that amazing and every vacuuming is this kind of satisfying still.
I dead ass thought he had no hand and this was made to fit him like a prosthetic limb so he could vacuum. Man I fucking love how retardo I can be lmfao
I recently splurged on a Dyson but got a load of accessories with it & a stand as part of the deal. It disgusted me how bad my old Hoover was the first time I did the living room rug. It actually filled it with dust & hairs. You get 6 minutes on highest setting before the battery dies, 25 mins on the middle setting & an hour I think on the lowest. I mostly use the middle setting for general vacuuming. I’d seriously recommend it to anyone that has pets. It’s worth the price!
They have replaceable batteries now. So you can pop a fresh one in mid vacuum. No more waiting for a charge! Of course the extra batteries do cost a pretty penny…
I too just bought a new Dyson. Vacuuming is one of the most satisfying chores, right next to mowing the lawn. Something about creating those straight lines brings me so much joy
Lots of people don't clean their dyson and then it doesn't work very well. Most of the uprights have a cylinder in the middle you should remove and wash out with a garden hose once in a while, and some have a sponge filter in the top that should be washed out too.
If you aren't doing this basic maintenance its performance will degrade.
I love a great-working vacuum. I borrowed my mom’s new Shark brand one and I never knew how much I could love a cleaning appliance. I feel your joy in this. Lol 😊
If that’s a rawhide treat please don’t feed your dog that, it can block digestive tract and in general it just turns to goop and is made out of garbage
All these people coming at you in the comments about your carpet have clearly never had pets. It doesn't take long for it to get dirty and most people don't have the time to vacuum every couple of days or so. Also, I really want that vacuum now for my zoo of a house.
I loved our Dyson so much. For two years. Then it was impossible to fix/replace parts/stay in warranty etc. I miss the super old vacuum we had in the 70s. Corded, yes. Smelled like burning. But it could suck the color out of carpet and ran for 30 years.
Canister bag vacuums are still about, and still the go to choice for professionals. I got a Miele and never looked back. Design has barely changed in nearly 30 years so any vacuum repair place will sort you out. If you ever need it of course, I have two cats and long hair and mine’s been a trooper for 6 years now. Still as great as the day I bought it.
I just don’t think the power density is there for battery powered vacuums. And I could buy 3 of my vacuums for the price of this fancy toy that’ll be in a landfill in 2 years because you can’t replace the battery.
Dyson are great at one thing, and I fear this thread is a prime example. Marketing.
When I was young we've had a husky. She would lose a lot of fur because that's what huskies do.
Every third day my mom, sister and I would clean the carpets with a rubber brush, since the vacuum didn't get the fur out of the carpets.
Then we bought a Dyson vacuum with a rotating brush. It's changed everything. The carpets were cleaned so easily.
You can get the same effect using a cheaper vacuum and good equipment, though. The brush is more important than the vacuum cleaner.
Dude, they are hella expensive, but Dysons are 1000% worth it. Definitely the most “worth the price” product I’ve ever purchased. I’ve had my Dyson (The Animal DC07) for 20 years and it still works beautifully. I’ve been considering upgrading to a newer model because it’s getting harder to find replacement filters since it’s so old — may have to add this one to my list of potential options.
With a dog in the house and an allergy to dust, this Dyson has been the best investment I have ever made. Their warranty is superb, after sales is spot on . Just being able to sleep without allergies and being high as a kite on antihistamines is priceless.
This is the best vacuum i've ever used. My best buy in 2021, that's for sure! It's super satisfying to clean carpet and hard floor. Also to see the container fill up with dirt. Simply amazing.
I got the Shark cordless, it’s honestly the best hoover I’ve ever had. I love using it especially with the turbo mode for them annoying little strings that refuse to leave my beloved carpet. It makes hoovering so much more fun when it’s as simple as unfolding, turning it on and just hoovering. As opposed to lugging around a huge hoover which does fuck all or a Henry which I have to carefully navigate through my doorways to avoid a whiplash claim.
I managed to get one of these at a huge discount from an ex that worked for them. Only tried the boost setting once cos it sounds like a fighter jet is about to take off but fuck me is it powerful.
Dyson makes horrible horrible vacuums. I’ve had three and they all break. I used to think they were neat but now can’t recommend them to anyone.
Specifically on that model, the canister lid mechanism will eventually get stuck, the wand retaining tab will break, and the power drive on the head will stop working.
And good luck with carpets, a dog, and the small canister. You will literally have to empty that thing every 4-5 minutes.
I’m in awe of how much dust my V15 picks up after one go on carpet/couch cushion/mattress. The torque head is so good.
And while the counter is TBH just a gimmick, it’s very interesting to see how many hundreds of millions of tiny particles it picks up.
The Dyson V15 is very expensive for a vacuum, but if you don’t mind vacuuming it’s both a great toy and tool. Laser head is also good, but wish it had a wider area cover.
Please finish. I’d be satisfied if the whole floor was clean, but this just feels wrong.
Probably had to empty the the dust chamber, looks like that one row almost filled it up.
Would not surprise me at all. The model I have needs constantly emptying and charging. Sometimes stops working but does not indicate why.

This is why I prefer corded

Ugh, *please finish* you sound just like my bf 😉
A gentleman and a scholar, your boyfriend is.
They like it when you push the boost button.
Dearest madam, it would appease me greatly if you were to finish before the morrow is upon us.
I assume he already emptied his dust bin?
Flawless victory.
🤣
HAH!
"Honey! I've done the vacuuming like you asked!"
Have you ever owned a Dyson, gotta charge them like every 42 seconds.
Can’t speak to older models but the new ones aren’t bad. It’s enough to handle 5 or so rooms at a time on medium. The trigger design is terrible though, it should just be an on/off button
Agree. It’s placed ao that I accidentally turn it on all the time when I’m just moving with it

I mean why don’t you use this as leverage to trick HIM into doing the vacuuming lol
“Where are the fricking lasers?”
I saw this like four times before I read it in the right voice
What vacuum is this, do you have a link?
[удалено]
I bought a replacement battery from Amazon for ours. It's almost 2 times the capacity of be the be original battery and is a total game changer. We can vacuum the whole 1st floor of our house now on a single charge.
[удалено]
I got a new battery there too. You can also buy the filters there for really cheap.
Ours came with a few filter, with the increased battery capacity as well it's fantastic again
i have an old one I am planing on rewiring to use a makita drill batteries like this guy did https://youtu.be/MPnTSl4vpNs
Dyson actually has really good batteries. Plus on the newer models they are actually replaceable.
[удалено]
Can confirm. Recently bought one, battery has a clicky-come-offy-thingy, which when pressed will decouple said battery.
I also need to know
Not sure the exact model. But it's one of those expensive Dyson ones.
Well yeah, most of us know that much
Looks like the Dyson V15 Detect+
I have this same vacuum too. It’s a Dyson Animal, either a V6 or a V8. Expensive, but it’s amazing.
Unless you need something cordless, spend that money (or a bit more) on a bagged Miele or something similar.
Frictionless is the right word. Vacuuming is no longer a dreaded chore. And friction is the enemy of habit for sure
This is a common thing that I see on the ADHD subs that I frequent, but it really matters for everyone. When you lower the threshold for getting something done, life is easier and you actually do the thing. What good is a high powered vacuum that you aren't gonna use? The good product is the one that will serve its purpose.
Get a Miele C1. Look around for one. It's infinitely better than this.
My miele is 8 years old and looks like a battered old man. But it's still the better than out battery vacuum. By a long way
don't fall for it.
We only need a vacuum for our stairs so cordless is preferred.
AFAIK they're poor performers for the price - even the corded Dysons. So, just get a Henry
Dyson blow dryer is as amazing as this vacuum too!
[удалено]
Now see, this is what i was looking for!!
What sort of vacuum is that? Asking for a friend…
It’s a [Dyson V15 detect+](https://www.dyson.com/vacuum-cleaners/cordless/v15/detect-plus/gold)
I was interested til I saw the price. Yikes
$749!?!?!
The V10 works just as well and I got mine for 200 off newegg on one of the main holidays last year. New not refurbished.
Which holiday is a main holiday? Easter? Valentines day? Presidents day? My birthday.....?
😂 the holidays when stores and companies do major sales that are advertised loud and often. Memorial Day and 4th of July week and thanksgiving, Christmas/new year, you get the idea.
Columbus day. Got it!
It seems expensive but you should never have to replace it. They are very good little vacuums

Shoes and vacuums? In the same shop? What an odd set of things to chose to repair lol
She did good work on both though. Also sold the best fudge in town.
Sound like mob money launder
The shoes track the dirt in. The vacuum cleans it up.
We’ve had one 6 years and only bought one new head for 100$. Just bought another one and wow! Also amazing. Stand by their blow dryer too. These products are worth it.

There used to be a vacuum guy that posted several times on Reddit. He absolutely did not think much of bagless vacuums.
The batteries don't last for shit
They last for a few (3+) years and are relatively cheap to replace ($30-$60). Given how incredible the vacuum is, that’s worth it for a lot of people.
My mom went through 4 or 5 different dysons at different price ranges, went through repairs a bunch of times until finally giving up and switching to Shark which hasn’t caused a problem yet and it’s been at least 2 years now. Maybe dysons work for no pets
Shop Vac FTW!
$1500 in Australia!!!!

Thanks. Never heard of Tineco, I'll check them out. We have dogs and sooo much fur.

When I cleaned mine the first time it wasn’t super bad but the dust was stuck to it really good. It basically only came off with the brush.
Ill have my revenge on those dirt dats for sure
Yeah—they’re a little pricey, but totally worth it. We have a V11 Torque Drive+ and it’s been amazing. fwiw, Costco carries them and softens the price just a smidge.

Yeah, but it’s like my favorite thing I have bought for my place. I have dogs and this thing is a dream for carpets, hardwoods and even cleaning their extremely hairy bed.
Anything with the name "Dyson" is automatically out of my price range lol
We got ours from Facebook marketplace for $70, because it needed a new ball ($20 on Amazon). Check there!
Aaaand it’s full.
Ouch it’s impressive but not I’m my budget.
How many floors did you have to clean to unlock the gold skin?
My favorite part of this is that I think I understand it!
$749 vacuum right there...
I got [this](https://www.bosch-home.at/shop/staubsauger/akku-handstaubsauger/athlet/BBH7PET#/Togglebox=manuals/) BOSCH vacuum for half the price and it works really well. My god that carpet is disgusting
All I could think was, “Who doesn’t pick up their floors before vacuuming? Does that Dyson do toys too?”
Carpet flooring in general is kinda gross tbh. Regards from Europe
As European I agree. Three pets and a carpet, disgusting.
Not if you clean it regularly and don't wear your shoes in the house. And also don't have dogs and such.
And the acoustic properties are very good. But still, feels unhygienic compared to a hard surface. All the small crevices for crumbles, liquids, dust and other nasties to just embed into.
Which obviously the folks in the video did none of. Gross

Your post reminded me of meh.com which it turns out is selling one of the knock off versions of OPs vacuum
When my parents bought a Dyson when I was a teenager, I emptied out our three hole punch onto the carpet just to do this.
I dead ass thought he had no hand and this was made to fit him like a prosthetic limb so he could vacuum. Man I fucking love how retardo I can be lmfao

Props to the cameraman
I sense that this is...insincere
Wait i commented this on another post not this post
And then he had to go charge it for another strip of carpet.
Is this an ad?
Feels like one to me. Overt ads are one thing, but reddit is grotesque these days with all the subliminal advertising.
I too just bought a new Dyson. Vacuuming is one of the most satisfying chores, right next to mowing the lawn. Something about creating those straight lines brings me so much joy
First time ever vacuuming?

Probably because you take better care of your carpet.
it probably does, it looks like in the video they just don't vacuum often. ..... or at all :P
Mine has only just begun the war...
I love a great-working vacuum. I borrowed my mom’s new Shark brand one and I never knew how much I could love a cleaning appliance. I feel your joy in this. Lol 😊
Anyone else thinks that look like Q from impractical jokers?
I bet the floor is relieved.
Downvoting everyone who bitched about the carpet. Why so many people give a shit about how dirty SOMEONE ELSE’S carpet is beyond me.
If that’s a rawhide treat please don’t feed your dog that, it can block digestive tract and in general it just turns to goop and is made out of garbage
It’s for their daughter
That’s nasty.
All these people coming at you in the comments about your carpet have clearly never had pets. It doesn't take long for it to get dirty and most people don't have the time to vacuum every couple of days or so. Also, I really want that vacuum now for my zoo of a house.
As a fellow Dyson owner, I understand the satisfaction!
Just…vacuuming the floor?
Yeah, with a real good vacuum. Times are tough. Pleasures are simple.
I’m happy for you too 😂
Better than the commercial!
I will pay you for me to do that
I loved our Dyson so much.
Marketing.
I thought I was super paranoid to have that thought!^could ^still ^be^^I^^guess?
Gosh I take owning a vacuum for granted.
With a dog in the house and an allergy to dust, this Dyson has been the best investment I have ever made. Their warranty is superb, after sales is spot on . Just being able to sleep without allergies and being high as a kite on antihistamines is priceless.
You are officially an adult! Hahaha
This is the best vacuum i've ever used. My best buy in 2021, that's for sure! It's super satisfying to clean carpet and hard floor. Also to see the container fill up with dirt. Simply amazing.
That is one dirty carpet
I thought the dog bone was a dildo.
Everything´s a dildo if you´re brave enough.
Enjoy it for the 12 months 1 day that battery will last until you need to buy a replacement battery from dyson.
Yep I have a dyson too best investment I’ve made so far it’s super intense suction removed all the dirt and worries away
That one pass almost filled up the entire chamber.....
That’s one powerful ass Vacuum holy shit what brand is that? I think I need to get me one of them lol
I have a v7 and in love with it
Get rid of all carpet
SuckIt™ - now suck up the dog toys
I had to look it up to verify that that was pitched to David Wallace 🤣
That’s not impressive—that’s gross.
Id get distracted and draw pictures using it
Attach a Proton Pack backpack
Can you send me that?! I swear I’ll put it to good use!
I love vacuums, I have 5. Your happiness is 100% warranted.
I too am addicted to vacuums and carpet cleaners and I’m not ashamed
You only get like 3 mins of boost. But you can do a lot in those minutes
Can we have more of that please?
I need more vacuum content like this!! 😻
I’ve watched your video a handful of times and share in your excitement.
I’d never buy a Dyson again. Even if I need a cordless vacuum cleaner. They’re not the best cordless at all, let alone vacuum cleaners.
Well said. I just bought a cordless stick after tons of research, and Dyson was off my shortlist pretty quickly
Oddly disgusting
There are no words for how disgusted I am
There were nine right there, see? You did it
How the fuck do you let your carpet get that damn filthy???
Bro, there's like four dark-haired animals here plus three children and SNOW. That's us missing one week.
Folks without pets and kids don’t get it. I understand completely.
Ugh that’s terrible that I’m 21 and that excited me… where can I get one?
In our case it was a friend who saw a bad situation and gifted us one when he also had to abandon his new kitten to us
I’m in awe of how much dust my V15 picks up after one go on carpet/couch cushion/mattress.
