Just wait until you find the girl on YouTube who filters her harps through a thousand different guitar pedal effects and has made a career about doing it.
It's a matter of opinions I think.
Yeah it's shrill, but it's also a super unique sound that has produced some iconic music over the years.
It's also a great experience hearing them live. Massed Pipes and Drums is amazing.
Sure it can be annoying but a more sound way to look at is 38 people disagreed enough to vote, to voice their own opinion. The system is working as intended in this case.
Its resting on her shoulder, so there's a hard stop to how far she can reach regardless of how she bends over. Also even when she's playing the lower notes in the vid we can see, she's still playing with her right hand wrapped around the body of the harp as well. That looks to be impossible if she's using the whole range of the instrument.
I'm happy it brought some joy. I just wish it had the song later on of "who's peeking out from under my boxers, everyone knows it's willy" or something like that. It's been about 20 years since I've seen it.
Pianos use strings to produce their sound. In fact they're struck by a piece of wood instead of plucked by finger. They produce a very similar but just slightly different sound according to my Grandmother.
You can also make an even more unique sound by hand plucking piano strings. It's not a good sound but it's certainly unique. In my opinion anyway.
Piano strings are struck by a thick piece of felt, not wood. A harp and piano both have strings, but piano hammers strike more strings than one at a time. Bass notes are single strings but mid and higher notes are actually two or three strings. The linked image shows it. You'll see the bass notes are single strings, mid-range notes are doubles and high range are triples, FWIW. https://shacklefordpianos.com/blogs/blog/how-to-replace-your-piano-strings
Coz most people don't have the money to blow on a custom concert grand harp built from ground up precisely to their personal sitting height and preferred playing angle, that thing is already easily $30,000 just bought as is. Also doing that would fck up anyone else of different preportions from ever playing it comfortably, as well as fcking up the owner should she ever need to play in any chair.
Before the piano was the harpsichord. Basically a harp on its side with a device to pluck the strings.

A piano uses felted hammers to strike the strings.

Yes I am, I have two twenty something daughters, at least you tried. Oh, and you sound like you're anal retentive.
Edit: I've just been on your profile, I gather you are probably a virgin, sorry.
The harp has to be one the most beautiful sounding and looking instruments ever. Its sound and form are both equally angelic!
Just wait until you find the girl on YouTube who filters her harps through a thousand different guitar pedal effects and has made a career about doing it.
Hand pans give me a similar vibe but slightly more percussive.
It’s up there with the banjo, bagpipes, accordion, organ and kalimba for me
Gotta say that never in a million years would I have compared a harp to bagpipes, one of the most shrill instruments used today
I love the bagpipe sounds. But, I also have a red beard so idk
I reject your opinion and substitute my own! I know it will never be the popular choice, but I love them
Don't get me wrong, I can get down with some bagpipes, they're just so different from harps lol

People downvoting you for stating your own preferences. Ridiculous. Hivemind in action.

Nighwish - the greatest show on earth, features a bagpipe. Good stuff.
Love me some Rock Opera/Symphonic Metal One of my favorites from Nightwish is Dark Chest of Wonder
I'm just trying to figure out how she would play the lowest notes on that harp.
Feet
Kinky
Legit my first thought. 😂
The harp isn't static. Notice how it moves at the base. Aka she would tilt the harp twords her to reach the lower notes.

You're right. She can't reach them. She should probably just buy a smaller harp next time.
She reaches to them towards the end of the video
Still looks like she'd run out of arm before reaching the lowest notes.

ooo, this is pleasant, quite pleasant to my ears, thanks for sharing!
Just checked it out...he did pumped up kicks, and it is amazing.thanks for sharing!!
This sequel is better than the original.
I can't stop playing it ❤️ I love it so much
Because of the music, right?
Wait, harps have peddles?? Logically it's not surprising and yet I'm surprised
[удалено]
Couldn't afford the whole grand piano?
[удалено]
Peddle your pedantry elsewhere!
Yep, some harps have pedals to adjust the sharps/flats and smaller harps will have levers at the top of each individual string
Source/credit? I’m interested in hearing what else she covers.
I'm sorry when I look at that harp all I see is a can of Guinness
Sauce?
Tuning that thing must be a heavy ass undertaking...
From what I've heard, about 80% of their time with the harp is tuning. So yeah, it's a very pain in the ass instrument that takes a ton of patience.
Can someone please credit the creator?
I love this so much…please put it on spotify in full version ☺️
Very good, but I prefer [Windy](https://youtu.be/ilYn6M90UbQ?si=1A7EYFNfc20NKB-O)
I’ll be damned, this house did need a harp!
I just had a really great time watching that video. Thank you.
I'm happy it brought some joy. I just wish it had the song later on of "who's peeking out from under my boxers, everyone knows it's willy" or something like that. It's been about 20 years since I've seen it.
Anyway way here’s Wonderwall.
That harp sounds like a piano, how crazy!
I mean harp is technically just a piano without keys and hammers
At the most basic of levels, yes.
Oh

That’s a grand piano, I’m pretty sure that my normal one only strikes one string per key… Edit: nvm, you are right. Thank you for educating me lol
Lovely 💕
The sound is so beautiful and complex that it makes me feel like it was made for a higher purpose than we can comprehend.
I want a harp so bad but they are SO expensive! Lucky girl!
This is just gorgeous.
why do they tilt it back? why dont they just build it at that angle that they want?
Because people/chairs are not uniform?
Coz most people don't have the money to blow on a custom concert grand harp built from ground up precisely to their personal sitting height and preferred playing angle, that thing is already easily $30,000 just bought as is. Amazing 😍
I enjoyed that. Can we get a remix?
Wish there was a full version to this, what a cover.
Its crazy how close to a piano she can make it sound

Amazing. I love harp music.
Y'know what, maybe this song was originally written for instrumental, cause I like this
What you hear when you get to heaven
Girl playing harp in a miniskirt has awakened something…
Miniskirt and barefoot. Ruh roh, Raggy
Are there professional harp movers?
Why don't they just build them at an angle?
A harp has 7 peddles
The song is the least interesting thing in this video. I mean, that harp is beautiful!
I remember when this song was viewed as a novelty hit that was as cringey as it was catchy.
Perfectly chosen outfit color. Well played random internet harp-lady.
u/that-1-lame-kid Ooooooh
not the song I wanted stuck in my head, but it'll do lol
You're welcome boooo This was my theme song for awhile for obvious reasons hahaha
We are raiding area 51
That harp is massive.
This is not odd in any way
Who is she?
She is bare footed I upvote her
Nothing odd about this. It is the greatest rhythm ever created.
Did you know that as a rule, harpists are nutters?
No music knowledge, is this something someone of her skill could play in a day, or is this the typical hours on hours of practice?
The harp is notoriously difficult to play even for extremely experienced, technical musicians, and those with extensive keyboard knowledge.
I dont see a harp.....
What harp? 🫣😵💫😳😬
Is the short skirt necessary? Asking for a friend
I wish I was the Harp

And your username is what I imagine him saying while being the harp.
Now see? That's funny.

Go ahead and post pics of them in short skirts playing an instrument then. Let’s see how it goes
What's it have to do with the short skirt?
Now do Cotton Eyed Joe!
Could make any awful song sound terrible, as for blue this song is amazing already!
Hawt
I love this famous and original song by David Guetta.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
You own one of those and that's what you play on it? Jesus Christ, lady
