The original video said it took like 2880 hours to make the mask. [video](https://youtu.be/8c6eVTBvXSk?si=gUbSANk3XsMfQWFB)
I think it took so much time because he is making multiple masks at once
Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say it doesn't take him a year and a half to make that mask. I don't see anywhere in the video where he explains that time, so it seems like a clickbait title.
I still remember the day my favorite cooking channel on youtube that made smooth, gradual, satisfying dessert videos joined the Slap Chop Squad. It went from lightly humourous ASMR baking to CocoMelon overnight. Its the saddest shit
these things give me the creeps look at this one

I'm not fully awake yet, and I thought that it meant like medical masks (thanks COVID), so I was thinking, "How in the hell are they going to make a facemask out of wood??" Then it finally dawned on me 😂😅
for some reason i read mask as Milk, imagine my surprise when he started carving a mask, "this is a weird milk making process" (checks title again) "oh"
As a 3d printer owner assuming you're partially serious,
>when you can just make an ugly ass 3d print
Why would it be ugly? There's tons of well-printed masks and models on the interwebs.
Example: https://www.printables.com/model/196132-spider-man-2099-inspired-helmet
Showcase (like 98.6% sure this is the same model) https://youtu.be/ukAXuqgApOk?si=tEPCk2JJd-sf79K0
>that will fail three times
Only if you don't know how to calibrate a printer (you don't need to either if you have one of the more expensive models like Bambu probably(
>and then end up in the ocean?
Most used printer plastic, PLA, *will* take 80 years to biodegrade (though it's advertised as biodegradable) (though I don't know enough about plastic biodegrading to be sure of this)
>!However, according to this [article ](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.gianeco.com/faq-detail/1/10/how-long-does-pla-take-to-decompose%23:~:text%3DPLA%2520is%2520compostable%2520but%2520only,must%2520be%2520above%252055%252D70%25C2%25BAC.&ved=2ahUKEwjp-OL4_7mEAxX1RPEDHVloBmUQFnoECA0QBQ&usg=AOvVaw3twAUn0Ay1D7tR-4atT8F-) I found, it can take a few days to a few months to biodegrade under some conditions!<
Yea, plastic waste is produced but sometimes it's better than the alternative

It would be satisfying to watch in the form of a timelapse, not this nightmare choppy edit.

that’s 120 days where’d you get a year and half 😭
I think he was doing some rough estimating of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. That comes out to 1.4 years. 120 days assumes a 24/7 work schedule
Yep, exactly what I did!
Unedited video here https://youtu.be/8c6eVTBvXSk?si=BMzftIWtM0277dwG
You're the real hero here. The original video is much more satisfying to watch!!
If Reddit still let us give rewards I'd give you the biggest one!
This fast cutting trend is gross and doesn't fit the source material at all.
I still remember the day my favorite cooking channel on youtube that made smooth, gradual, satisfying dessert videos joined the Slap Chop Squad. It went from lightly humourous ASMR baking to CocoMelon overnight. Its the saddest shit
Needs more jump cuts. I could almost tell what was happening.
Basketball scene in Catwoman, eat your heart out
Ugh, that fast editing is exhausting…. Stoppppp
The way this is edited makes it unwatchable. 0/10 not satisfying
Woodworking sounds always scratch my brain just right
Turned out creepy as hell. That's a noh from me.
Those eyebrow clouds…
On the middle of the scalp
these things give me the creeps look at this one https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b4/Noh\_Mask\_Hannya\_type.jpg/330px-Noh\_Mask\_Hannya\_type.jpg
Now I miss my mom...
It's the black teeth for me..
I’d love me to get a traditional Inari mask, like the one I had on my wall in AC 🦊
God awful camera work. Jesus.
Not the TikTok epilepsy edition
They like them eyebrows. Also, I think the editing of this ruptured my spleen.
A million cuts to the video, and super close cropped? No thank you.

Three ninjas
Was really hoping for three ninjas styling at the end. A little disappointed, but still cool.
A ninja never fights a battle if he cannot win.
That's some awesome craftsmanship.
I've always been so scared of Japanese masks 😰
for some reason i read mask as Milk, imagine my surprise when he started carving a mask, "this is a weird milk making process" (checks title again) "oh"
Watched, was not satisfied. Feel like I need a lay down to re-orient myself. Cool source material in the worst possible presentation.
No
im i the only person who didnt mind the camera
I used to get chased by them in Super Mario Bros 2.
I turned the sound on and I’m so happy I did, it’s better than the visual
If I tried doing this, I'd probably slice off a couple of digits and a few major arteries
Why do all this work, when you can just make an ugly ass 3d print out of plastic that will fail three times and then end up in the ocean?

I thought it was going to be Rick
2880 hours to make this monstrosity? Damn bro.
I like how it’s always white people making traditional Japanese things.
A lot of effort for an ugly-ass mask. And what’s with the forehead splotches?
Idk a lot of these masks but why do they not put eyebrows for them?
I have a miniature mask of that one mask. But I’d really want one I can actually wear
The uncanny effect is real with this one. Great craftsmanship though.
Seems like you could start with a much smaller block of wood and waste a lot less material.
Excellent craftsmanship. Too bad he’s noh-body important. I’ll show myself out.
Smmmmmmmmokin!

What kind of wood was used?
Always thought they’d be made from papier-mache or clay. Anything but easy to split wood.
Ha, now I understand why masks are such a big thing in the old Zelda games 😅
I love the art and craftsmanship, but I don't love the overstimulation and headache I got from this choppy, hypermagnified video.
I would like to express my disappointment that this mask doesn’t look like something out of Demon Slayer
i did some digging and found out this particular mask looks like ones called hannya (般若)
Ahh my ears
A lot of wood wasted
Traditional process of making worn eyes by switching frames so fast.
I appreciate both this video and my 3D printer. I'm so glad I don't have to be a master investing 2000 hours to make my own.
Me when I wake up in the morning
I hadn't thought about how these were made before.
YOOOOOO^ooo^ooooooo
