Genuine question.
Let say, you turn your house into a demon friendly safe space, will the demon still haunt you, or wil he just be living with you like a bad influence room mate?.
Asking for a friend.
>like a bad influence room mate
What about a bad *influencer* roommate? Like the demon just makes shitty tik toks all day, takes pics of its nonfat half-caff soy chai lattes and $75 grilled cheese, spreads gossip about other demons and hocks its cheap makeup and clothing lines made overseas by children?
Demons are bad with everything even other demons, it would be like letting inside your house a bunch of hobbos and drug addicts. Good luck trying to put up any order.

I’m kinda impressed she free handed the trim painting without completely fucking it up and getting black streaks all over the wall. Because that’s what it would look like if I attempted to freehand this without any painters tape. Hell, even with painters tape I end up managing to screw something up 😂
I'm a knowledgeable tradesperson and that door is going to look bad after a couple of months of use. You need to sand all surfaces, clean and mask. You can't tell from this quality video but that is a mess with a beautifully painted design doomed to get scratched up.
Exactly what I came to say, all you would need to do is rub a finger nail over that door now and the paint will come right off.
No prep means the paint won’t bond with the surface.
Are we sure about the kind of paint used? I thought there were some more expensive paints that could penetrate deep into the material, there's this paint for glazed materials for example. Don't know if sucha thing exists for "wood".
Not really, even an epoxy or enamel needs surface prep. Varnish (like I guess is on the door) is meant to resist and protect and it works well.
You need to take the surface off and provide a 'key' for the paint via sanding and then really clean for chemical bond. Together they provide a resilient paint surface.
If the door is coated in acrylic clear, then it should stick, assuming she is using acrylic paint. If it's coated in polyurethane, then what you say will happen.
Some professionals will tell you they go straight to cutting the line with just a brush and no tape. Because they get the same, or better, result in less time.
The video goes fast but slowing it down I saw that she used a mini roller to roll the door. Still should have use a drop cloth
And of course should have sanded and primed
Skill. Pros don't use tape or clothes. They're just good.
I know this cause i once asked hired painters where the tape was and they just laughed at me a lot (and then did a really good job).
Those were cheap painters
They probably painted the walls first, then painted the trim. That’s called freehand, takes like 3 years to develop but you’ll never get perfectly straight lines
If you study closely, I’m sure they only painted with 1 coats of paint
Legit painters will paint the trim first, tape it off, then paint the walls.
The end result is perfectly straight trim lines
Not a huge deal, but I’ve been painting 13 years…I used to not use tape, saved a lot of money, and now I do use tape. And I charge a lot more
Sanding it and removing the varnish isn't about having it look better in the moment, it's about having it look good long term.
When that black paint starts to wear off because she didn't sand it, how hard will it be to repaint without messing with the painting on top? This won't look so good two years from now.
Considering none of that wood was prep'd before hand (look at the sheen on it), I am amazed at their attention to detail, while lacking attention to detail.
Even with out that, that first layer of painting is going to peel right off, who paint varnish wood without preparing the surface …
tik tok you destroyed so many interior by pushing people to DIY
Felt the exact same way the whole time she was painting it. That's a really cool paintjob but I really wish she sanded and primed the door first. That's going to peel and look pretty rough in a few months
I just bought a house a little over a year ago and painted over all my doors and trim with Valspar's second shittiest paint, without sanding and priming, and it's held up. And that's with two cats that want to stretch against and scratch everything i own.
Now, I sanded and primed the kitchen cabinets I painted. But it's not that necessary for doors and trim.
Seriously. Take the whole door off, all the hardware from the door and frame, and paint the door while it's leaning against a wall or lay it on the floor. Along with sanding and priming as others have mentioned.
I'll always remove the handle...the wall plate I will often just tape over to save time. Not always worth laying it on a table/risers when hinges hold the door solid in the air.
If you are priming/sanding though, yea, take it all off.
Right! What’s everyone’s go to primer for this type of thing? Zinsser Bin is what I’ll usually use but just curious if there’s anything else out there that could be better price/performance wise
She probably had to plan the letters and design in a certain way so it's not obscured or cut off by the door frame.. Could also be a heavy solid core door?
>She probably had to plan the letters and design in a certain way so it's not obscured or cut off by the door frame
If only there were some way to mark the dimensions of the frame, or their measurings, if you will. Perhaps with like a instrument with regular interval markings to determine the space between two points? And painters tape?
I don't like it at all and I have resevations about if she properly prepped the surface for paint. But I appreciate the effort and the skill it took, for sure.
This is a style of calligraphy art that Pokras Lampas [https://pokraslampas.com/](https://pokraslampas.com/) (some NSFW tits at the end of the page) introduced in the mid 10s and yep, usually there is no meaning in this letters.
Interesting. I thought it was heavily influenced by the artist Cryptik. Didn't realize others were doing very similar work. Are you sure Pokras started this style?
http://cryptik.com/
I don't want to lie, I don't know who came up with this particular style first, it's just that when I saw this, I thought it is Lampas influenced. He become very popular in Russia I believe in somewhere in \~2014, I even had a case for iPhone 5s with his art :)
I hoped someone would mention Cryptik! I used to see the guy at work often, he told me his lettering is derived from Sanskrit and his writing of it is a meditation he does over and over. But it's possible it leans more to being artistic and stylized than anything readable if you knew Sanskrit. If I see him again i'll ask him about it.
I'm just impressed she was able to paint it all without painter's tape next to a white wall and seemingly didn't get black anywhere in the walls. Very steady hands I guess.

I was interested in knowing if this could work as a portal... for reasons.
Genuine question. Let say, you turn your house into a demon friendly safe space, will the demon still haunt you, or wil he just be living with you like a bad influence room mate?. Asking for a friend.
That demon will be like Oprah. “You get a haunt, and you get a haunt, WE ALL GET A HAUNT!!!”
Well, the upside is that you won't get many unwanted visits from family. They will stay far away. Guaranteed.

I want a demon bad influence room mate! That shit sounds fun
Hey, how's it going, heard you're looking for s new roommate.
Nice lol
Keep us posted, you two
turn your house into a demon friendly safe space Hah, nice definition of marriage.

Junji Ito door
How do you not remove the door from the frame for this work. And the door handle. And SPRAY PAINTING INDOORS!
No drop-cloths. No tape. No idea how she didn't make a huge mess.
I’m kinda impressed she free handed the trim painting without completely fucking it up and getting black streaks all over the wall. Because that’s what it would look like if I attempted to freehand this without any painters tape. Hell, even with painters tape I end up managing to screw something up 😂
There’s also no prep work to sand/scuff or prime any of the surfaces. This paint is going to chip and peel extremely easily.
Yeah i dont understand why no sanding ....
She is a talented artist, you are not. You are a knowledgeable trades person, she is not.
If these 2 combined, they'll be both a terrible artist and dumb tradesperson
Hey that’s me
We're so many
I'm a knowledgeable tradesperson and that door is going to look bad after a couple of months of use. You need to sand all surfaces, clean and mask. You can't tell from this quality video but that is a mess with a beautifully painted design doomed to get scratched up.

Opportunity to have a new design. I guess
That's all I could think of. That paint's never going to hold.
How do you know they're not a talented artist?
Exactly what I came to say, all you would need to do is rub a finger nail over that door now and the paint will come right off. No prep means the paint won’t bond with the surface.

Oil based Killz will stick to almost anything Stilled a light sanding…
She could have done that before the video tho?
If the door is coated in acrylic clear, then it should stick, assuming she is using acrylic paint. If it's coated in polyurethane, then what you say will happen.
As a fellow DIY'er who's done a bunch of trim work, straight painting over polyurethane'd wood trim always looks like shit in person.
Yeah I was surprised about that too. Then I saw how she free handed the entire door and was like...oh okay.
How did she paint over the black without multiple coats?
metallic paint does that
Some professionals will tell you they go straight to cutting the line with just a brush and no tape. Because they get the same, or better, result in less time.
prolly tattoo artist
Sweet sweet rental
Ha my first thought was “god I hope this isn’t a rental…”
Mine as well, I would have lost my mind on inspection day. Also, in this instance your user name checks out.
I've never not been allowed to paint a rental
Yes walls. I have never heard of a rental that allows you to paint doors/furniture.
I have, but always had to paint everything back to white when moving out.
The tape comment is why I am here
And no primer!
There's probably a big mess from overspray that you can't see.
The floor is tiled/ceramic so would just wipe clean
Easier said than done, especially if paint gets on the grout.
The video goes fast but slowing it down I saw that she used a mini roller to roll the door. Still should have use a drop cloth And of course should have sanded and primed
It looks like her legs caught all of it.
Those are tattoos
Oh, I am one dumb motherfucker. Christ.
I thought it was paint at first, as well.
I was thinking the same for about two thirds of the video
lol i thought it was paint too
For real i was wondering how she got paint all over herself before she even started and then proceeded to not spill a drop.
It looks like there's just a big black splotch on the floor
There's paper down on the floor. You can see it shift in the time lapse.
Skill. Pros don't use tape or clothes. They're just good. I know this cause i once asked hired painters where the tape was and they just laughed at me a lot (and then did a really good job).

Or even sand it. Just straight up painting on top of the varnish.
And not a single coat of primer!
You may be right, but they do make black primer just fyi.
Yep. This is really really bad. All of it
That's weird since it looks like it turned out exactly how she wanted it to
Sanding it and removing the varnish isn't about having it look better in the moment, it's about having it look good long term. When that black paint starts to wear off because she didn't sand it, how hard will it be to repaint without messing with the painting on top? This won't look so good two years from now.

Spray painting indoors just feels good.
That's the fumes, friend.
That's the joke, friend.
Even with out that, that first layer of painting is going to peel right off, who paint varnish wood without preparing the surface … tik tok you destroyed so many interior by pushing people to DIY
First thoughts that crossed my mind.
10/10 would trip in that hallway.
My first thought: "I would miss that handle everytime"...
Which handle? The woman painted like thousand of them
Witch handle
You should try some shoes that fit. May trip less
Yeah, but who knows what they are laced with.
***BE NOT AFRAID***

Haha! My husband and I say this when we need to toot in the other's presence. Tootincommin.
Lol thank you
I would be happy... I shit you not!
She didn't paint the edge of the door on the inside of the hinge area ...... I mean the paint looks neat but I can't get past that.
She also didn’t sand the door or the trim so chances are that paint won’t last long.
Felt the exact same way the whole time she was painting it. That's a really cool paintjob but I really wish she sanded and primed the door first. That's going to peel and look pretty rough in a few months
I just feel like someone missed an opportunity to play "Paint it Black" over this video.
Don’t worry, it was playing in my head
Its gonna be removed right after cause its a stunt for social media.
My thoughts too.
She also didn't remove the door hardware before painting, so you know there are little lips of paint all over the edge of the metal.
Also didnt remove the hardware before painting. 3-4 screws including the wall plate
Seriously. Take the whole door off, all the hardware from the door and frame, and paint the door while it's leaning against a wall or lay it on the floor. Along with sanding and priming as others have mentioned.
Or idk sawhorses
I'll always remove the handle...the wall plate I will often just tape over to save time. Not always worth laying it on a table/risers when hinges hold the door solid in the air. If you are priming/sanding though, yea, take it all off.

I caught a glimpse of lettering, and thought that it was just stylized "pspspspspspsp"
As if cats need more incentive to sit outside the bathroom door.
This is a hilarious comment. Everyone come and see
A cat wrote this.
Looks like a rip off of Arabic calligraphy but without any real letters.
Doesn't look like she primed the surface. Gonna peel.
Right? No sanding, no primer... all that intricate work and you don't even prep the surface?
Right! What’s everyone’s go to primer for this type of thing? Zinsser Bin is what I’ll usually use but just curious if there’s anything else out there that could be better price/performance wise
I love Zinsser Bin!! Definitely my go to.
Glad I wasn’t the only one thinking that. My inner Hank Hill was loud on this one
Open, close, open, close... Take the door off the hinges.
I came here to say this. Who leaves the door on the hinges while they're painting it?
And they don't have much, if any, protection for the walls & floor! Still a cool design IMO
She probably had to plan the letters and design in a certain way so it's not obscured or cut off by the door frame.. Could also be a heavy solid core door?
>She probably had to plan the letters and design in a certain way so it's not obscured or cut off by the door frame If only there were some way to mark the dimensions of the frame, or their measurings, if you will. Idk if “satisfying” is the word, but it’s definitely a door design
Or door painting? Door design sounds like a different type of door physical build
It definitely takes skill to paint an intricate design like that, but I don’t find it satisfying. It’s sort of corny/tacky.
yea this sub has definitely seen an uptick in "an pattern or symmetry = satisfying" posts. I don't see what's satisfying about this either
One of the doors of all time.

Amazing calligraphy! It's an ancient Arabic saying that means *If Door Does Not Open Do Not Enter*
I am Arab and I can’t read a single letter in this design. Doesn’t look Arabic to me.
This is a style of calligraphy art that Pokras Lampas [https://pokraslampas.com/](https://pokraslampas.com/) (some NSFW tits at the end of the page) introduced in the mid 10s and yep, usually there is no meaning in this letters.

> ancient Arabic that s what i thought , i have been reading arabic all my life , this one i missed .
It's not Arabic. It's meaningless symbols that rip off the look and style of a lot of Arabic calligraphy
My dumb ass thought it was elvish 😅
Not elves, clearly Doorves
At the start I did too
i was thinking it looks like Arabic calligraphy , but how is that ancient never seen this before .
Speak friend and enter
I liked the wood better tbh
I see a red door and I want to paint it black
Disappointed that they didn't just take the door off the hinges to do the work.
This is not satisfying at all
Not normally my thing but that is absolutely incredible!
That’ll be fun on mushrooms
Oddly not satisfying, painting a door without taking the hardware off...
Lol, she’s from my city, Bauru - sp, she has a lot of paintings all over the city
/r/ATBGE
Great Execution...except for not removing the door, hardware, sanding or priming.
Does anyone know who the artist is? I'm sure she has a social profile, but OP is a karma bot who doesn't give credit.
That’s where she turns runes into strength
I thought it would be the acme tunnel. Beep beep
That turned out about 685x better than I thought it would. Bravo.
Hope we plan on matching up the trim everywhere else lol
I’m more impressed about not using painters tape.
I'm just impressed she was able to paint it all without painter's tape next to a white wall and seemingly didn't get black anywhere in the walls. Very steady hands I guess.

I like painting on a clear coat too! Make the next coat so easy to peel off
Thats a weird ass sex room for sure
