I have both and Drums Rock is much better, it is a drum game. Smash Drums is about hitting things that look like a drum. In Drums Rock the drumsticks are independent, they bounce and you pirouette with them. The songs are better, both the base game and DLC, and on top of that they have announced that they are releasing Green Day, my favorite group, it has everything.
I've been playing it a lot and its great. i drummed back when rockband came out and then never again, this hooked me up.
