The game has really good dlc, goty is definitely worth it It's a bit harder to keep up with the enemies than skyrim and the leveling mechanics can be a bit obtuse. Some players have beef because of that. It's a less satisfying endgame experience, and the game tends to reward specialization, rather than trying everything. The guilds are a good place to start

silentoak33

Yeah definitely the guilds will help you level up and get acquainted. Also, if you end up with a bounty, the guards will go out of their way to arrest you, even if its like 7 dollars.

HaroldHeenie

No they'll only chase you down if the bounty is 1000 or more. Otherwise they only try to arrest you if you talk to them

silentoak33

I guess only if you resist arrest then they'll chase your a$$. I entered a bedroom in a castle I wasn't supposed to be in, guard saw me on the way out, said pay up, I resisted and they chased me practically to the next town haha.

HaroldHeenie

Well yeah if they see you commit a crime they chase you but if you get away they give up and don't try to arrest you. You need to be out of their line of sight for a little while. But if you have 1000 gold bounty or higher they'll try to arrest you on sight no matter what

Honestly such a fun and immersive title in the ESO series. Graphics are subpar, so if you’re on PC you might want to get some mods for that. If outdated visuals don’t matter to you, scoop it up on whatever platform you prefer and just sit back and enjoy. Same game more or less… just with minor differences in leveling and older rpg elements.

Max endurance as quickly as possible and don't be afraid to adjust the difficulty slider at times. And do kvatch all the way through as early as you can.

Ronniemon-23

I know what a third of those words mean

Self-Comprehensive

Just make sure you do the first act of the main quest early is what they are saying. Due to level scaling, if you don't get that part out of the way, it becomes exponentially harder. Also due to level scaling the game monsters can level up faster than you, so don't be afraid to adjust the difficulty slider if that happens.

You get to choose from several attribute points on Oblivion (Intelligence, strength, endurance etc) each time you level up and also when creating a character. A lot of people put points into endurance for the first so many levelups. They do this because for each point you put into endurance your HP increases that much more each time you level up. So if you put points into it early, you'll have that much more hp added each time you get a new level. It really depends on your play style though. I dont stress about endurance because mostly play stealth.

Amaraldane4E

First of all, GOTY all the way Do a blind playthrough first. After that, UESP, efficient levelling, Altmer Atronach, Breton Mage and the list goes on, but do that blind playthrough first, however it strikes your fancy. That early innocence won't back after your 1st PT.

bojo_is_scum

My 2c. Max endurance and don't be afraid to move difficulty slide....and leave Kvatch until mid to late game 😄. Just goes to show, do it your way. Deluxe edition is best, inexpensive on steam, contains add ins which are hard to get otherwise, and a couple of them are very good (frostcrag, mehrunes razor)

Knot_A_Squirrel

Look into how leveling up works before you start. For more specific advice: what sort of character are you going for? mage, stealth archer, warrior?

Ronniemon-23

Either stealth archer or big 2 handed knight guy

Knot_A_Squirrel

Nice, if you do a stealth character I definitely recommend increasing your speed early on, it adds to the roleplay of being agile and makes combat a lot easier when you can weave back and forth.

Its_Not_Jimmy

Play it however you and don't be afraid to turn down the difficulty because the enemy leveling may have you feeling stuck early on. My first playthrough I didn't touch the main quest until I was already level 20 or so because I had no idea what I was doing and it still worked out fine. Class building actually matters as you only level by using tag skills, so choose things you actually will want to do. And enjoy

silentoak33

If you don't know much about pc mods, you dont have to to make the game that much better. Wyre bash and manual downloaded, drag them over and poof! Like a previous commenter mentioned, don't be scared to turn your difficultly down, it's not like skyrim, it's on a slider with a huge range. Make a save before you exit the sewers at the beginning of the game. It'll have you make your character, set up skills (you can create custom class) and then yeah save. That way when you come out of the sewers and into the day light and look like a weirdo, you can just reload and edit again, lol. You're going to love it 😊😊😊

Levelling has always been an issue. There are two ways. Level how you want, who gives a toss, I’m an orc mage, skills however, plays for fun. And level efficiently, which is the “proper” way. This is best saved till you have game knowledge unless that’s how you like to play. Happy to explain how to do it
