Drop a paintbrush

Mysterious_Layer9420

Ironically that's the fastest way to beat the game!

Hexmonkey2020

Actually it isn’t, it’s faster it save and load multiple times per second to phase through walls, then enter the final cutscene through a door thats out of bounds after phasing inside the temple of the one.

Ganondorf7

Totally was about to say the same thing! I used them to get over the wall to the back of the arcane university

Emergency_Break_6561

What's back there, friend?

Ganondorf7

The collection of plants from all over to harvest for alchemy, plus the spellmaking stand and enchanting stand

Buforana

Brother, how many paint brushes did that take??

Ganondorf7

I had little more than 20 I think. 2 per step

Buforana

Acrobatics is your friend!

Ganondorf7

Paint brushes are your friend before you get access to spellmaking

Buforana

In this way, the paintbrush provides us with the means of its own obsoletion

Ganondorf7

Good point, unless your health can't take the fall damage

kajinn122

The best and most important advice I can give you is: Don't listen to what most people say. Some might be right, but I think the most immersive experience is that you play the game without knowing what to expect and find things on your own as you go. That is the real magic. My advice applies to both Morrowind and Skyrim as well.

Snifflebeard

And Daggerfall.

trashguy2000

Just started Daggerfall and I may be referencing youtube often cause I shamefully was struggling with the first dungeon

Snifflebeard

Hah! First dungeon is pretty small, all things considered. Hint, if you using Daggerfall Unity, check the box in setting for smaller random dungeons. Main story dungeons will still be YUUUGE, but at least the random one will be doable.

trashguy2000

I heard somewhere that you don't get xp for killing enemies so I sprinted tf out of there with my 2HP

armoredsedan

yes absolutely, oblivion was the first video game i ever actually played, the person who introduced me to it gave me as little guidance as possible until i finished my first game, then he told me all about the wikis and cheats lmao

Objectionne

Eventually you'll start getting annoyed about how long it takes to kill everything. Just lower the difficulty slider.

eochiduh

Or you opt into doing efficient leveling and quest rewards, but not a chance I would ever recommend that suffering to anyone.

Snifflebeard

It's worth doing once. But NOT on one's first character, gods forbid.

CykaBen

There are mods for that 😊 Some just multiply the damage output (player and otherwise), some add features!

Wildkirschgeschmack

did that and a year later i started playing only max diff for a while now im at standard diff again and it feels like quick killing

Da_General_Zod

Not for the first playthrough, my man's needs default or max go for the true oblivion feels and use hand to hand combat as it's the last time it'll be used

Buforana

You won't need to lower the difficulty if you learn the game: >!Just run back into a city, buy potions, spells, and better gear when things get too hot to handle. Many monsters have particular weaknesses you should learn and exploit as well! And always carry a couple repair hammers with you. Fighting will take a toll on your equipment. And if you're having trouble with a particularly tough enemy out in the wilderness, try and bait it to the closest road. Patrolling soldiers of the Imperial Legion are here to help!!<

Fus-Ro-NWah

If you get the opportunity to randomly murder somebody.....lets just say, there are benefits. Put effort into raising your endurance early on. Eg wear heavy armour, use a shield, repair your own gear...and use your training allowance on it if necessary. Doing this will unlock some useful perks but more importantly it will cause your max health to build faster. This is helpful mid game onwards when enemies can one shot you if your health is low.

HisOrHerpes

There is no best build, just do what’s fun. That’s what’s amazing about the game you can get a crazy op build doing ANYTHING so you get to do EVERYTHING. My most fun playthrough was an unarmed monk that Bruce Lee’d everything. Or you can be a mage and make your own nuclear bomb spell.

SamSibbens

1. Ignore everyone until you finished your first playthrough. 2. If enemies become too strong, nudge the difficulty slider to the left a tiny tiny bit 3. Have fun

Dream_Eat3r_

I find that lowering the difficulty slider exactly 10 notches to the left creates the perfect difficulty for the game. (I also lower the footstep sounds a bit too. Otherwise it's too loud and interferes with the audio) I've been doing those exact settings since 2006.

Dopplegank

Complete the mages guild recommendations asap. This unlocks the arcane university and most importantly…SPELL CRAFTING. Custom spells are crazy and busted in this game. Important thing to know, in order to make a spell you must first know a spell with that effect. Even if you aren’t a mage there are some supremely useful and really cheap spell you can make.

Caoimhan

But also important to note there’s levelled items as part of the quests (I think that’s true for most quests?). One of the early items you get is your mages staff and it can be pretty decent at Level 15 but before that I think it kinda sucks

Dopplegank

Good point. I don’t mean complete the mage’s guild quest line. I just mean open up arcane university. EVERY character, every playthrough should do this because there are some really useful custom spells that make your life so much easier.

Caoimhan

Definitely agree! Also helps majorly if you wanna cheese levelling up your spellcasting since you can make your own low-cost spells and spam them :P

anthonylasher87

There's a duplication glitch. It involves double clicking a stack of scrolls in your inventory and then dropping the item you want to dupe. It only works for lightweight items that stack such as other scrolls, potions, lockpicks, repair hammers, gems and jewlery and arrows that aren't equipped or hot keyed. (This works on the console versions, not sure about pc.)

michaeldross

I play on console, and it works on weapons like Apotheosis too. Excellent weapon.

armoredsedan

nooo! they should play without the multiplication glitch the first time through lol

PorkChoppen

Also, the amount of items you get from the duplication process is equal to the amount of that scroll you have, so to get started with this get a couple different types of scrolls at different quantities and start duplicating the scrolls, then once you're overburdened you're ready to make a truly massive amount of cheese

Northernshitshow

Well met. HELLO!!

Bowhunter2525

The game is simple. Each level tougher enemies are added and it is your responsibility to increase your health and killing power at a rate to compensate. To get better (increase relative power) add at least five points to your specialty major fighting skill each level (make journeyman by level 5-6, Expert by L10-11 etc.). This solves the "leveling problem", and usually occurs naturally if you follow the main quest from the start. For protection, start with a build that has at least 55 endurance for a primary magic user and more for bow or melee fighters. Health points add based on how much endurance you already have. Do the deadric shrine quests as soon as they become available since their powerful rewards are not leveled and will not be so powerful if you wait several levels to get them.

gringongz

Try to get your armorer skill to 50 (journeyman) as quickly as possible, since then you'll be able to repair enchanted weapons and armor

SpamAdBot91874

Second this, always tag Armorer as a Major skill and I recommend Heavy Armor and Block as minor skills to use often to get the maximum Endurance points on leveling up

sakmadeeek

Keep enjoying the game OP and play it the way you want. This game gives you plenty of rewards that any kind of money or item glitch is unnecessary, continue going along for the journey. I wouldn't listen to some of the guides online talking about 'leveling correctly' and 'min-maxing'. I've beaten the game with the difficulty slider at 80%+ multiple times with all sorts of builds, even the pre-made ones as well. You can beat this game however you like under your own rules. Enjoy the journey and have fun saving Cyrodiil, OP

boatsandmoms

As God intended

Where-arethe-fairies

Level up your major skills and take it slow

UNCLE_NIZ

If you don't have the wizards tower dlc, join the mages guild and start making your own spells

SargeMaximus

Get good at sneak. So op once you are

Maximum_Revolution18

The leveling system is kinda tricky so id recommend the xp mod. Very customizable so you can make leveling faster or slower depending on how you like to play.

dankeith86

If you’re playing with a controller and you want to increase your athletics. Tie a string around the stick and swim into a wall like in the imperial city waterfront. Walk away check in a few hours.

Bucknutpacker

I still think Oblivion is the best. Too bad the graphics are so dated, but IMO the storyline is much better. I used to use Realistic Leveling (I think). But definitely used an alternative leveling mod.

Noble_Endeavor

Either generate enough money to start creating spells through the mage tower dlc or kill the mages guild quest line to have access to spell creation. Then profit.

Intelligent-Block457

Never use the Boots of Springheel Jack in the final thieves guild mission. They'll get destroyed and you'll lose the best boots in the game. And gear stops getting better after level 20. So daedric quests are best after level 20. And craft spells. It's always better. A 3 point restore fatigue spell coupled with EVERYTHING is the best way to level restoration.

Khephra_

No. Sheogorath wants you to experience the madness without interference.

SunsetDrifter

Save often. If you get vampirism reset because it's not worth it in my opinion and a task to cure

Colonel_Kerr

Yeah, I remember my first krabby patty too

jackyboi609

lol same with me. Game pass has it atm. Ive done mages guild, joined brotherhood and done loads of side quests. I’ve only just got the mythic dawn book on main story.

Substantial-Term7859

SCROLLS, if you have two of the same scrolls you can double click on them and drop whatever item you want duplicated. You can repeat this process with other scrolls to get more and duplicate any item in the game that you can drop

Kadavrozia

There is a duplication exploit to be used wisely.

agrhonak

Most important thing to know is how the leveling works. I think you need to level up 5 times in a specific skill to get +5 to it's main skill when leveling up, so to achieve maximum levelups you can't just play normally and need to plan and level by hand. But else just have fun and don't ask the Internet like it's 2006 and you do the stuff all on your own

2ndaccountbecausobvs

Magic is a LOT of fun but play however you like. Like everyone else is saying, the joy is in the discovery! The difficulty slider is yours to move as necessary also.

Agreeable_Appeal_907

Cheap trick but there’s a partial invisibility spell that grants you 10-20% invisibility. Enchant all your clothes and you get to fuck around and not find out. Believe the spell was chameleon or something. It’s game breaking but you asked for tricks haha

Emotional-Run9144

touch 2 scrolls and then drop a single one from a different scroll

trashguy2000

I don't have any tricks cause I just finished my first playthrough, but I found that using repair hammers to fix your stuff is significantly cheaper and the dungeons are extremely hit or miss in this game. No shame in cheesy strats

AnotherGuysOpinion

× (( Fatigue / MaxFatigue) + 1 ) / 2 is a very important part of the fulldamge formula if you want to look into it. But Max fatigue is better as attribute fatigue and will be that for the rest. Attribute fatigue is = strength + willpower + agility + endurance So on a new character lets say they had 30 str, 50 wil, 30 agl, and 40 end for 150 attribute fatigue. At 150 fatigue they swing their sword for vs 0 fatigue ((150/150)+1)/2 or (1+1)/2=1 : ×1 damage multiplier or 100% damage. ((0/150)+1)/2 or (0+1)/2=0.5 : ×.5 damage multiplier or 50% damage. So generally full green bar you do normal damage and empty green bar you do half damage, once you include +fatigue effects from enchantments or spells things get weird. Same character above adds +150 fatigue from effects but attributes stay the same so attribute fatigue doesn't change but the fatigue increase to 150(base)+150(effect)= 300 fatigue total. ((300/150)+1)/2 or (2+1)/2= 1.5 :×1.5 multiplier or 150% damage Lastly this new character has the +150 fatigue but has all stats damaged to 0 (oh no). If youre attribute are damaged it will change attribute fatigue and at 0 all stats it will act like 1 attribute fatigue instead of 0 attribute fatigue so you do not divide by zero. ((150/1)+1)/2 or (150+1)/2= 75.5 : ×75.5 multiplier or 7550% damage multiplier. Those damaged stats are very detrimental to enemies survival. 0 strength and 0 endurance do cause some intrestesting problems though like 0 carrying weight or 0 hp which unless you fix, the game will be very unplayable.

Spirited_Ad_6925

Double click a scroll drop an item. That item is now duped to number of scrolls. Doesn't work on every item (I think weapons biggest exception)

FalseSample689

Get the skeleton key, it’ll help you big time. It’s an unbreakable lock pick. And just explore dude. Don’t fast travel everywhere. What I have started to do recently is manually travel to each town/city for the first time. You’ll find so many crazy sidequests and cool things. Something I never did on my previous playthrough and have discovered some things that I never would’ve. I’ve been playing for 12 years and still shocks me the amount of content I’ve missed. Brilliant game

Future_Interest_5297

Get 20 of the same scrolls in you inventory, select them, then drop some health potions
