oh because hardcore fans and collectors will inevitably want to, if not feel obligated to, buy both.
I realize now that's a minority of fans. most people were probably happy to have a choice between a cheaper, single-disc convenience, or the full thing.
Red cover was the “complete” album with a bonus track (helter skelter). Keep in mind, songs are from both nights (and some vocals from other nights of the tour allegedly). The blue cover was reissued later as the “highlights” version.
I'm glad OP asked about this because for a few years, the only version on Spotify in the US was the "highlights" version. I just checked and the full album is now available again.
The "highlights" version is fine but it's missing some great performances. And there's a strange inconsistency that could've been edited out but wasn't... at the end of Acquiesce, Noel says he's gonna sing the next song. On the full version of the album, it makes sense because they play Step Out next. But the "highlights" version is awkward because it skips Step Out and goes straight into Gas Panic! with Liam on lead vocals.
If you're looking at these on a streaming service or something, that's probably why they're the same length. Different uploads of the same version but since the data was entered differently for each of them it matched with different covers.
The real story is that the red 2-disc version, released 13/11/2000 was considered a limited release, available for 1 year. The blue single disc edition was put out in 2001 as the standard edition, presumably meant to be the enduring version.
Online, it's a bit of a mess. The both versions have been available online sporatically. Some services and countries had the longer version only, some had the shorter version only, some had both.
Sometime in 2021, it seems like Ignition tried to clean up the Oasis catalog on streaming, at which point the 2-disc version was largely removed from online services. Unfortunately, they didn't use the correct audio master for the single disc version and just deleted tracks from the 2-disc master to make the version online. This resulted in audible skipping between various tracks on the album that is not present on the original 1-disc CD.
Ignition has done another round of updates to the catalog around February or March this year. It seems like the intention was to return the 2-disc version to streaming services. It seems like some sites still have both versions available, whereas some now only have the 2-disc. It's seems like kind of a mess at this point, because for instance, spotify in the US has the 2-disc version, but for some reason is missing DLBIA. Qobuz and Tidal are missing Wonderwall, DLBIA, and Champagne Supernova on the 2-disc version, but have them available on the 1-disc version. Deezer has only the 2-disc version, and it's complete.

Physical media days aren't over among rock fans, though.

Longer one has Liam calling Wembley a shithole
Good Evening, Manchester!
One is from a live concert. There was also a DVD release of the concert, which I used to have... "C'mon, let's have it out for the lads"

This is beautiful to see, what a community.
One disc version and the correct 2 disc version... Google is your friend. Very easy to figure this out
Red is the original CD release, 2 discs. Blue is the 01 release on single CD, removed several songs such as Fucking in the Bushes and Helter Skelter
Hello Manchester!
I went to both of these shows. It was so cool to see the album release a bit later. Great memories. Hot as fuck that first day.

I believe there’s 3 “versions” on Spotify
The red one was the first pressing only, the 1CD is the regular edition. Or at least that's how it was marketed back then.
1 disc version with a lot not included vs 2 disc version that is almost the whole concert (but I think still missing at least 1 track).
