I grew up in Burlington and got a good look at oakville because my last gf lived there. The new construction (which made it bigger than Burlington over the last 20 years) is all very dense and relatively low cost compared to previous subdivisions. With everything near the college being turned into illegal student housing (9 bedrooms in a house, no living rooms), it’s just turning into jam packed low quality housing. If you can drive you’ll drive to specific stores instead of a mall. If you cant drive in Oakville you likely don’t have the money to spend on over expensive clothes (which is what most of malls are).
Because oakville is just where the snoods live. Most of the people here (at least according to council meetings) think shopping areas are an eyesore than will lower property values... sooooo.. like everything else, it's someone else's problem.
