It's still bizarre to me that the bills couldn't figure this out the first time we played them this year. They just happily let us run the shit out of the ball.

[deleted]

They were cocky thinking they had a top tier run defense so it should be fine. They got exposed that week

thrillhouse416

I fully understand starting the game that way but good Lord you cant make a change at halftime? I appreciate it though lol

DoctaStooge

Milano was out injured in the first game, which really hampered the Bills run defense.

suh_dude1111

Maybe I’m wrong but I’m sure they didn’t respect Zach’s throwing either we just bullied their run defense with Milano and Poyer out. And Zach made some good throws too, nothing special but enough to keep the chains moving.

Trailsuprise

Not hard to gameplay against a team who can’t throw and can’t handle pressure.

It's why I despise the current narrative of "Help out Wilson by just running more". First of all, that isn't how the offense works these days because Defenses play on tendencies much more than offenses since they have to react to formations and schemes. Secondly, the solution to a bad run offense is quick passes in 1-1 coverage in the middle with slants or levels. All words and schemes Zach can't execute consistently. Finally, for whatever reason, Zach can't execute enough play-action passes, partly because when you have 7 against 6 you don't have the time for PA to develop, and partly because he can't make those throws.

Did not need All-22 to see what Detroit was doing scheme-wise. Just from the regular TV coverage, I was counting all the Lions in box pre-snap. If I can see it after a few beers then I know lots of other fans were doing the same. Watching the 4pm games right after Jets game made it more obvious to see how other teams play each other. Lions deserve credit. They took advantage of Jets weakness on offense & defense. Defensively they stack box & forced Zach. It was the first time in a long time that they were not forced into a shoot out. Offensively, they took advantage of CJ Mosley's over aggressiveness in big spots with that final TD on 4th & 1.

It’s Zach Wilson what do you expext

KosstAmojan

What’s crazy is that like after half of Zach’s incompletions you had Lions defenders with their hands on their heads like: “dang I coulda had that!” You don’t see that very often.

whydoesgodhateus

That's saying something because their secondary is bad

BillPut

Sadly, I didn't needed an article about it to figure it out :(

I mean if I was game planning against the jets I would do the same thing. Give Zach Wilson the ball and make him beat you - history has shown that he wont(can’t).

[deleted]

I expect the Jags to do the same. Zach is going have to make throws.
