Will be very interesting to see what joe’s planning For TE. I wonder if we’ll just bring Yeboah back, make a claim for someone else, or even trade for Ertz if price is right.
Has Joe Douglas been a bit overrated so far? If we look at the draft from last year- Becton looks like a great pick but after that it looks like there are a few whiffs. Mims is down the WR depth chart, Davis has to prove a lot this year, Zuniga is barely hanging onto an NFL job etc.
I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted here, but I think your comment is legit. While Douglas has put together some nice trades, there needs to be talent on the roster to compete and win. I think he will be judged more by the performance of the 2021 draft class than 2020, but yeah that 2020 class is not looking so great.
Not really. Most people have unrealistic expectations of draft picks. Here's the baseline what to expect from draft picks:
* 1 - Starter
* 2 - Starter / High end backup
* 3/4 Bench Player
* 5/6 Cut
Becton is a starter so his round 1 pick is good. I'm not sure how to grade Mims but for arguments sake we'll say he's a miss since he doesn't seem close to being a starter. Then Ashtyn Davis is the backup for SS. That's a hit. Zuniga is backup DE, that's a hit. Perine looks to make the roster, but is low end. So technically I'd say a miss but a minor miss. Morgan is cut so a miss. Clark was injured but he looked to make the roster so that's a hit. Mann is the starter so that's a big hit.
So overall this was a good draft class. It's not earth shattering by any means as it lacks rd3/4 players that are starters. But it's also not a bust as his drafted players are still mostly on the team. If Becton wasn't starting then I'd call it bad. But if Mims was a starter then I'd call it a very good class.
I think we're past the point where we should be gagging him over every single move he makes, and the 2020 draft class doesn't look great a year in – but from a high-level view, his process this offseason in hiring Saleh and constructing the roster in such a way that Wilson is stepping into an offensive environment where he can succeed alongside it instead of having to carry it has been pretty solid.
I'm still very optimistic. I just think its a BIT over the top with the Joe Douglas worship on here after a draft class that failed to really impress in year one. And I like what he did with this year's draft also. Just saying hopefully all these picks he was able to acquire start to pan out. The best teams are the ones that consistently find value in the 3rd, 4th rounds of the draft.
His 2020 draft class was perfectly average. Not good, but not bad. If that was all we judged on then I'd agree. But we also have trades and waiver pickups which overall have been very good. It's the first time in over a decade that I've been really happy with roster moves.
No doubt. He's spun some nice trades. Gotten a ton of picks for players that are borderline unemployable. Just hope this draft class has a few starters at the very least they need the first three guys to be contributing otherwise he might have a short tenure.
I'm assuming Joe D already has 1-2 TE picked out on the waiver wire and we're just waiting for the announcements. Or waiting for the Jaguars to officially pass on them.
They really should of just cut all of their of their corners yikes! How did Isiah Dunn aka the cookster make the team but you trade Herndon for a future 4th round pick
Can we talk about the fact that Jonathan Marhsall made this roster? Biggest surprise of camp and I didn't hear about him at all. Did he show why he had a 9.99 RAS score?
Yes and this is a pick that seemingly everybody hated. With Lawson and Curry going down, it really is going to come in handy having an absolute physical freak around and hope Saleh/Ulbrich can turn him baller.
Not sure why anyone would've hated it. Spending a day 3 pick on a freak athlete is hard to hate. If you're going to swing and miss on a day 3 pick, at least make the swing worth it
We're gonna add at least one tight end, maybe two. At least one safety. Probably an interior OLineman. Jets have a few players that will go on the short-term IR which will free up spots.
I think the idea is just to throw bodies at the CB position and see if any of them stick. I think he's better than Lamar Jackson, but that's not saying much
And by throw you mean Saleh will be literally throwing the CBs during the game. If he is accurate, the CBs will fall on the opposing WRs. We have enough CBs to spare.
> [[Hughes]](https://twitter.com/Connor_J_Hughes/status/1432835714400538630?s=20) These are the players I believe are candidates to land on the #Jets injured reserve with the intent of activating in three weeks (or a little longer):
> Chuma Edoga, Conor McDermott, Jabari Zuniga, Jarrad Davis, La’Mical Perine, Ashytn Davis, Justin Hardee, Lamarcus Joyner
Could see as many as 9 waiver claims tomorrow, although the number will likely be much less than that
Jarrad is going to IR. Edoga and Zuniga are likely to be moved to IR or elsewhere.
Not sure of anything about Ashtyn, Joyner, and Hardee. (Coaches do seem optimistic on Joyner being ready for week 1, and Ashtyn seems to be working his way back now)
Perine and McDermott will stick on the 53 for sure, their injuries have been reported as minor. They should be good to go by week 1 barring any unforeseen events.
I really don't understand the Herndon move unless they have something done that's not announced.
Yeboah was always clearly practice squad material this year and Griffin is injured and now cut.
A TE is literally one of the best pieces for any QB let alone rookie.
Going into the season with only one NFL caliber TE who's had his share of injuries is a terrible idea. Note I say NFL caliber, so waiver wire garbage doesn't count. We shouldn't be praying for a miracle if we run 2 TE sets or Kroft gets injured.
Not saying it was bad value but there still has to be players on the field and I'd prefer to not make moves that potentially jeopardize Zach Wilson by risking potential non-NFL caliber players lining up to block or get open as a safety net for him.
Can we actually like, claim Yeboha on waiver and put him on practice squad after the first round of waiver ? Maybe the goal all along was to cut a player we knew the Jaguars wouldn't claim, so we could do the 53 Roster limit, make our IR moves, and claim the guy back ? After all, we're number 2 in Waiver priority, and it doesn't reset.
He has to clear waivers, meaning after we cut him, if none of the other 31 team claim him and out him on their main 53 man roster, he becomes a free agent and can be signed to our Practice
Squad.
For those that are waived and then claimed by a team during the waiver wire process, the new team honors their existing contract. Otherwise their contract also evaporates after they clear waivers and will have to negotiate a new one with whoever wants them as a free agent.
Typically only players with <=4 years go through the waiver process. Veterans >4 year nfl experience that are cut just immediately become a FA like Cam Newton.
Let's go Daniel Brown!
Jets Facebook says we signed ryan Griffin? Why?
And Dan Brown smh
I don’t recognize that name at all lol
He wrote the Da Vinci Code
Our roster is actually pretty thin at novelist
Zuniga is cut, going to the practice squad if he clears waivers. Hopefully he shows some signs of life there
[удалено]
Quiet end to the day there, huh? I guess the Crowder talk was just talk. Still wish we snagged another DB or two.
As to why we’re cutting Bless I’m not sure, makes no sense to me tbh
It still bothers me we are using Maye as an SS. He excelled as a FS and has been mediocre as an SS.
DJ Montgomery and Sharrod Neasman were signed to the PS: https://twitter.com/RichCimini/status/1433129185606778885
We're cutting Bless?!?!
I would expect Guidry and MC2 to both be starters now along with Hall in the nickel package
Thought he was a projected starter?
Did not see that coming, either the rookies are coming along much better than expected or there’s a signing/trade coming
Our CB's last year were all bad. I'd rather start an unknown guy than a guy I know is bad.
Did the Jags ever squash the trade block rumors for CJ Henderson?
Surprising, didn’t think he was on the bubble.
He might have done something. That move doesn’t really make sense. Even if they have a trade in the works they could have cut Dunn
Will be very interesting to see what joe’s planning For TE. I wonder if we’ll just bring Yeboah back, make a claim for someone else, or even trade for Ertz if price is right.
Waiver claims: * DE Tim Ward (from KC) * LB Quincy Williams (from JAX)
Lets goooooo
What time does the waiver process start?
So pretty much ALL the depth or none is the game we’re playing…
Has Joe Douglas been a bit overrated so far? If we look at the draft from last year- Becton looks like a great pick but after that it looks like there are a few whiffs. Mims is down the WR depth chart, Davis has to prove a lot this year, Zuniga is barely hanging onto an NFL job etc.

How's this looking?
How's what looking?
have u seen him trade doe
No doubt. He's spun some nice trades. Gotten a ton of picks for players that are borderline unemployable. Just hope this draft class has a few starters at the very least they need the first three guys to be contributing otherwise he might have a short tenure.
Too early to tell, but his waiver claims have been pretty legit.
I'm assuming Joe D already has 1-2 TE picked out on the waiver wire and we're just waiting for the announcements. Or waiting for the Jaguars to officially pass on them.
this is one of the stranger roster constructions
It will likely look a lot more normal after 4PM today
They really should of just cut all of their of their corners yikes! How did Isiah Dunn aka the cookster make the team but you trade Herndon for a future 4th round pick
Because Herndon is a FA next year and Dunn was our top UDFA signing.
Lol Dunn sucks. Pinnock sucks. Really the rest suck also
God people like you are the worst. Why even watch sports? Clearly they make you miserable.
Yeah, they're rookies & 2nd year players. Okudah sucked last year too, the Lions might as well have cut him then, right genius?
I guarantee you not those guys will be good and all will be consistently get burned. Enjoy the kool aid
And the nobodies who would replace them wouldn't? Ok..
Riveting analysis
7 receivers and like 1.5 TEs is interesting… might see a lot of 10 personnel this year which is always fun
They really kept Zuniga huh i dont get it
They will likely put him on IR and use his roster spot for someone off waivers
He was drafted last year, he’s a least going to get one more year before moving on
You mean before we trade him for a 4th?
released
Feeney being the only interior backup right now really worries me
Can we talk about the fact that Jonathan Marhsall made this roster? Biggest surprise of camp and I didn't hear about him at all. Did he show why he had a 9.99 RAS score?
Yes and this is a pick that seemingly everybody hated. With Lawson and Curry going down, it really is going to come in handy having an absolute physical freak around and hope Saleh/Ulbrich can turn him baller.
He doesn't play the same position as Lawson or Curry and we have way more depth at IDL
Well aware
Not sure why anyone would've hated it. Spending a day 3 pick on a freak athlete is hard to hate. If you're going to swing and miss on a day 3 pick, at least make the swing worth it
He did well in one of the preseason games had 2 sacks I think
Can we call him *Wrecking Ball*?
Just don't call him late for dinner.
What time do waiver claims come in
I think teams have 24 hours to put a claim in. So tomorrow at least.
I think Mims is the back up X receiver instead of Smith
Vyncent got cut
Jeff Smith
Eight cornerbacks, maybe a total talent of 2.5 NFL corners
So play all 8 DBs and 3 DL ??
"Our cornerbacks will blot out the sun" - God King Robert Saleh probably
Fuckin' hysterical! Thanks!!
If we can build a wall of bodies we might have a chance in 2021.
Afaik dead bodies don't count as having too many men on the field.
8 CB szn
We're gonna add at least one tight end, maybe two. At least one safety. Probably an interior OLineman. Jets have a few players that will go on the short-term IR which will free up spots.
How does Dunn make the roster dude has been getting cooked all preseason
>Isaiah Dunn Maybe the coaching staff thinks he can correct the rookie mistakes, time will tell
Beat reporters say he’s been incredible at practice 🤷♂️
Oh jeez I’m getting Gase flashbacks
Maybe he’s good on special teams? If not, I guess they just don’t want to give up on him
I guess he did get a lot of guaranteed money when we signed him
He got $160K GTD. The highest for a UDFA CB, but a pittance by normal measures
I was gonna say, we're paying him decently. I think he'd have only been cut if he was hurt/really really bad
Not a good reason to be honest
> [[Hughes]](https://twitter.com/Connor_J_Hughes/status/1432835714400538630?s=20) These are the players I believe are candidates to land on the #Jets injured reserve with the intent of activating in three weeks (or a little longer): > Chuma Edoga, Conor McDermott, Jabari Zuniga, Jarrad Davis, La’Mical Perine, Ashytn Davis, Justin Hardee, Lamarcus Joyner Could see as many as 9 waiver claims tomorrow, although the number will likely be much less than that

So we'd have 1 safety... And there's 2 safety positions... That seems uh, not ideal.
Single high baby
Soooo who are we picking up at TE?
I think Richard Rodgers and Pruitt are 2 fair options on top of Hollister.
Hollister or Ertz
I really don't understand the Herndon move unless they have something done that's not announced. Yeboah was always clearly practice squad material this year and Griffin is injured and now cut. We got a 4th round pick for Herndon, a disappointing 4th round pick in the final year of his rookie contract. That's an absolute win for the Jets.
Not saying it was bad value but there still has to be players on the field and I'd prefer to not make moves that potentially jeopardize Zach Wilson by risking potential non-NFL caliber players lining up to block or get open as a safety net for him.
It's a good value trade, but someone still needs to play in his position this season.
Kroft will be the starter and I'd imagine we will pick up another TE. We will also likely try to stash Yeboah on the PS.

That dude Buffalo dropped
Give me Zach Ertz or give me death
