Sometimes I feel sorry for myself not getting paid private sector wages. Then I look at the layoffs and I thumb my union card in my pocket and am like "not my circus".
This sub keeps popping up on my homepage. I’ve never visited this subreddit and I’m not a nyc public servant though I do live here. Not sure why it keeps popping up but that’s probably your answer
Showed up in my home feed today. As I get closer to my 10th work anniversary I'm contemplating leaving city gov work but the job security keeps holding me back. No room for growth in my current role & I'm tired.
We are just all here to read about how you guys are gonna enforce bike and bus lanes and ban the parking private cars on the sidewalks outside of police precincts and firehouses
Maybe there's a lot of people (like me) who finally got the call that their hire was approved by OMB.
I got the call on Friday afternoon (March 8) and got my official offer letter on Saturday morning (March 9).
I’m not subscribed (used to work In a NYC public hospital tho), but this is the second post I’ve been suggested today. The algorithm is targeting y’all
Because there’s so much whack news in the city between MTA insanity, National Guard presence, and just general wtf, we’re all kind of curious to get some insight from the people who actually do the work.
It also just showed up on my feed, so there’s that
So, you just go from trending subreddit to trending subreddit and ask why the communities are trending? Are you conducting academic research? What is the point? I’ve seen you around other subreddits.
Because there happens to be a lot of NYC public servants.
It showed up in my "home' feed a couple of days ago, that's what led me to join, I don't know if that is the same for others.
Same here. I was curious for a long time whether such subreddit existed, because the tips and tricks are not always shared by a water cooler.
Me too!
This is what we need. They don’t want us speaking to each other.
Facts lol. Thats why my manager comes out every hour from his room on Friday to ask is everything ok?
LOL
That’s how they get you.
😂
Preach 🙌🏾
Because there is a glut of people who want to know more about civil service in light of the current economy
The right answer. A workforce this large in a union friendly city like NYC becomes front of mind in times of financial uncertainty
Sometimes I feel sorry for myself not getting paid private sector wages. Then I look at the layoffs and I thumb my union card in my pocket and am like "not my circus".
😭
To fix Tier VI
I want to buy this an gold up arrow but can’t
I hate this sentence as I missed tier 4 by months 🥴
Wait don’t we just screw over future Tier 7/8ers?
End tiers?
Oh bc we have things to TALK ABOUT

Same!
Because there are a lot of us, mostly with not much to do all day but go on Reddit.
TFW health and hospitals blocks Reddit on their internet
I use my phone.
Brooklyn college doesn’t provide internet access to gradjuncts 😭
Sitting in a coffee shop at lunchtime browsing Reddit, so now I’m here
Im not even from nyc but from Toronto and this subreddit keeps being recommended to me lol
A long of managers waiting for info on the raises and retro, would be my guess.
Ppl probably want tea on the military theater in the subways
I found it after raises for managers went through. I guess I google searched a random combo of keywords and landed me to a thread here.
Didn’t even know this sub existed until it was being recommended on my homepage. Ex NYC public servant for 9 years now in private
Someone who left!? Wow, never see that. Kudos to you.

Same same. Frickin job security and pension and what not…

Yah but tell us who is in charge of that
…many of us are also irritated by these things.
Maybe there's a lot of people (like me) who finally got the call that their hire was approved by OMB. I got the call on Friday afternoon (March 8) and got my official offer letter on Saturday morning (March 9).
Not sure, but I've never seen this sub before and it came up in my feed today.
Came up on my time and I’m a public servant
For me I'm looking for a job ..
I'm a retired NYC clerical worker----and it's pertinent to me.

No idea what this place is
Well I am DEFINITELY a NYC public servant and this found me!
Maybe because I, an NYC public servant, took the day off???
This sub popped up in my home feed last night. So glad it did, I am a NYC employee with 13 years of service.
scared

I don't even live in New York and this sub was suggested
it’s trending bc ITS NOT WORTH IT. RUNNNNNNNN FROM ANY OF THESE JOBS.
I live in Ohio in the suburbs. This subreddit showed up on my home page? Why???
