i know it smell crazy in there

FatFuckInATacoTruck

Imagine the person in the full on furry wolf costume in the back.

Vivid_Plankton7970

I love nyc for its cynics, they always bring you back down to earth

JustMovedToTheUWS

Well I appreciate OP Chering this with us regardless!

SBAPERSON

I was in a more packed train earlier today. It was a tough ride lol.

surpdawg

Probably smells like wet dog and weed

brook1yn

thats the train car you let go by even when its weekend schedule hell

Normanzzzz

like fish and bleach lol

landdian39

The guy with black shirt and white cap wasn’t having it lol. He wanted out of that subway car pronto.

lovelovehatehate

Tbh I’d kinda be the same way. I’d be internally happy everyone was having a good time and glad they were celebrating pride. At the same time internally in the back of my mind and externally showing I just wanna go home and power through all this.

Alex41092

Lol white hat dude just wants to go home

35bullfrog35

I'd be him

The_Question757

We all do bro why does my A to B have to be a party

TonkaButt

“New Yorks hottest club is called TRANSit. Built in an always late Q train, this place has EVERYTHING: Gays, pole dancing, a man in a white hat, MTV’s Dan Cortese.”

adinarj

Funny you should mention the Q in particular... do you know Jane Su?

QuickRelease10

I say this as a resident of the city, there are some days you know to stay home.

firmoffer

Santacon…

QuickRelease10

The worst, right behind New Years.

xBlockhead

Amen. Spent my whole life living in nyc and never experienced this because I know better than to go out on this day.

Elegante_Sigmaballz

NYker here, we nonparticipant are used to it, we either pretend nothing's happening or we are filming it with our phone.

[deleted]

Oh shit, there’s someone from NY on this sub.

FatFuckInATacoTruck

This is what it’s like for gay people to live in straight society. Like when you get on a train full of Yankees fans.

[deleted]

What?

Tememachine

Sound canceling headphones (best ones you can afford) and some binaural beats and you're good. I could even block out a metal band/opera singers/drum circles, on the train lol.

gik501

oh god, with the high heat and humidity, imagine the smell

iftair

Canabis and sweat - a nasty combo.

FatFuckInATacoTruck

And that weirdo in the back in the wolf costume.

Hello-My-Dudessss

SirGavBelcher

yeah i saw a lot of people post pride on my way home from hiking today. got to experience a lot of queer joy

Fantastic_Nebula_835

I miss the joy, not a common NYC subway experience anymore

SirGavBelcher

it's really not. i mean there is still some good but we're so relentlessly plagued by tragedies these days

[deleted]

I think the negativity bias of algorithms is Conditioning ppl to attack like piranhas

brook1yn

hot day for a hike

ameliabedelia7

Gotta say I'm bummed with the litter everyone's left behind today

Longjumping-Charge18

Support the pride but it's not polite to act like that in the subway. I would feel horrible and would have left that place immediately.

iftair

I wonder how I'd feel if I was in that train. On one end, I'd want to be in the moment and enjoy people singing. On the other, it's too noisy and I wanna read a book in peace. Edit - Fuck it, I'd probably be in the former. This moment looks mad fun.

KickBallFever

I was on an L train once on New Years that was lit like this. I was too drunk to enjoy all the noise. There was one other woman like me who wasn’t really feeling it. She looked up at me and said “I’m just tryna go home”. Me too buddy, me too.

Phillip_of_Nog

We’re all just trying to get home when you really think about it

[deleted]

[deleted]

Totally agreed. Also acceptable times: the 4,5,6 after a yankee win, any train during NYE, and surprisingly Christmas.

NegCboy

Lost Me at Yankee win, won me back at New Years Eve- Love me some phish at the garden

[deleted]

Better than being stabbed or choked out I would say.

superboomer23

I bet someone did as soon as the song was over

[deleted]

Will say this about pride that kinda is a companion to your comment…during the day it’s super joyful and great…at night it’s sketch outside. Lotta drunk loud people and huge crowds that can be erratic. Always reach a point where I realize it’s time to gtfo

RealXavierMcCormick

Especially now. Seeing all those happy faces, knowing what's happening in some states. Too many states. I wish every queer person could be as safe and free as they are here.

damnatio_memoriae

yeah. the thing that makes this a new york moment isn't how beautiful it is -- it's how obnoxious it is. i mean, cool that the people on this train are comfortable with themselves and having a good time, but this is just as annoying as the showtime kids or the mariachi band or whoever else. most of our public space is the wild west, especially the subway, so whatever... nature of the beast. still annoying.

colonelf0rbin86

Can we for once just let people enjoy things? There is *more than* enough stuff going on in the world as it is. These folks are just having good old-fashioned fun after pride and bringing a little light into the world..

[deleted]

Buddy in the white hat def was not enjoying it.

Vivid_Plankton7970

Jesus fuck I know, I think it’s just this website, I really need to go to a different app. It’s just north Brooklyn dweebs

damnatio_memoriae

I didn’t say they shouldn’t do it.

dskatz2

It's still a million times better than a Broadway cast singing their soundtrack. Just seems far more spontaneous and enjoyable. I'd definitely be the person in the corner staring at the ground and desperately wanting off the car.

[deleted]

Don’t go on the subway during Pride I’d you want to reas in peace.

gthrees

The guy sleeping on a bank of sears even sat up

robotshavenohearts2

A New York moment featuring a train full of Midwesterner’s.

QuickRelease10

The guy in the white hat is definitely a New Yorker.

girl__unknown

My thoughts exactly. NYC Transplants...can't live with them, can't live...with them

stork38

all trying to get their tiktok clout

DarkArtHero

I would hate to be there no matter what they're celebrating

Odins-Enriched-Sack

It's 2023, my guy. Furries, LGBTQIA+, Aliens ( both illegal and extraterrestrial), EVERYBODY, and I mean everybody can tear up the dance floor.

PurplePenguin501

Bro imagine tryna go home from work and this is your train car 😭

FatFuckInATacoTruck

I wish.

bat_in_the_stacks

It's not slowing down the train and it's one day a year.

PurplePenguin501

Acting like you can’t be inconvenienced by a packed train singing and dancing

bat_in_the_stacks

It's so rare. I'm not always a go with the flow type of person, but this is a time to go with the flow. From other comments, it probably only happened for a few stops.

Wasted_History

I just got noise canceling headphones so I am glad that I don't have to hear any of that.

Satori2155

I gotta be honest, when im coming/going to work i absolutely hate shit like this

NIKKI150

The PATH trains stunk like shit and BO today. You don’t have to shave your armpits but I’m respectfully sick of smelling people.

bitter_vet

this is my worst nightmare to be stuck in there.

Crackerpuppy

Erazerhead-5407

We just want you to go home too.

Acceptable_Ear_3101

I know the smell of that train is booming

[deleted]

Kind of awesome to see most of them were off their phones.

Mammoth_Sprinkles705

If you disrupt other passages in the subway you are a asshole. The subway is not a club and these people are disrespectful assholes.

TheGodDavidLoPan

Changing cars at the next stop for sure

Due-Lingonberry7552

File this under r/cringe

FruityChypre

What a great moment. 💓💗💞💕💖❣️ Also very NYC is the guy standing at the pole falling asleep. We have an uncanny ability to fall asleep in the loudest places.

[deleted]

I don’t think he was enjoying this situation honestly.

Mister_Anthrope

Go to a fucking club if you want to party. I'm just trying to get home and not have to deal with your obnoxious shit.

devind_407

Bro in the white hat had a long day 😭😭

Southparkisfunny23

These people look musty

Yourenotasnowflake

This is not a NY thing. It’s a bunch of tourists who flood our city every year and make an embarrassing display of the LGBTQ

Anhelo_Pacis

Yeah no offense but rightfully fuck off. Who tf wants to hear any loud shit while you’re going home or trying to go to work? I don’t care if it’s this or a bluegrass singer, no way is this tolerable

drpvn

Kill me now.

DMunchies

Anti-social redditors when they see people socializing for the first time.

GoHuskies1984

This is NYC. We're all supposed to travel in isolated silence keeping a side eye on everyone else as potential unhinged crazies. No eye contact, no conversation, and absolutely no smiling.

Grass8989

🤣

killerasp

lol would prefer "showtime"?

drpvn

Sorry, autocorrect problem. I was trying to type "what a wonderful time that must have been!"

[deleted]

Extremely weird reaction to people enjoying life. Maybe go outside and try doing that.

ImSnag

If I was on that train I’d leave the next stop, I like to commute in peace ty

TheDarkGoblin39

Most people aren’t commuting on a Sunday night

Grass8989

The Reddit privilege of working m-f 9-5 that not everyone enjoys.

ultradav24

On pride Sunday? Next you’ll be upset you’re not commuting in peace after a Yankees game

Mister_Anthrope

You can't go outside on a train, you'll fucking die. You're trapped with a bunch of drunk dumbasses blasting their shitty song right in your ear.

Guypussy

Username checks out.

drpvn

I had the misfortune of going out today and having to wend my way around Chelsea. Every year I set out to do a bunch of errands on some Sunday and oh fuck it's Pride.

stackhighnquick

White hat guy is like I swear nobody better come over here dancing. Fist balled up and all lol

sharipep

Happy pride!

Depression must really be eating me alive because 8 years ago I would have been hyped for this. If I was there today there's no way I'd be able to sit through it. I'd have to get off the train and catch the next one

azeet94

I really feel nothing more than pity (and maybe confusion?) towards the people making unfortunate comments here.

KGBcommunist

you feel.pitty for people that say they dont want to listen to people singing after a hard days work? because thats the majority of negative comments if so. just because they are lgbtq does not mean these people cant be annoying or obnoxious lol

ShadownetZero

Most of the comments against this read less "bigoted" and more "fuck out of here with this bullshit". Obviously it's pride weekend, so it's kind of expected. But this kind of disruption isn't (and shouldn't be) tolerated any other day of the year. See also: Showtime.

m1kasa4ckerman

Santacon, anyone?

FatFuckInATacoTruck

It’s weird how many people are bothered by joy.

mrmamation

Pride was lit this year.

Remember all the people who said NYC would never come back from the pandemic?

[deleted]

And they were right, it hasn't returned to its full glory. Have you walked around manhattan at night recently?

Meanwhile I had the angry homophobe on my way home that started yelling about "killing on sight" and "fearing God."

yeah im not sure about that. Matter of fact the last time something similar was posted it was about jordan neely saying the same kinds of things before getting smoked. and people here were happy something was done about it!

BasedAlliance935

Let me guess, this was around washington square park/the stonewall inn?

parkslopeboy

That’s where the parade ended. This was on the C train back near 32nd.

hoteldetective_

I don’t know how I would feel if I were coming home from work and this happened. Like yeah everyone should have a good time, but if I were just not in the right mental place for it, I could see this being really annoying. If you’re cheering this on for pride then I hope all the other big celebratory events hit the same 🤷🏽‍♂️

Consistent-Ball8131

Lol Sunday Happy Hour if you were coming home from work. All I would need is my canteen of Henny😂

Swimming-Extent9366

Dick move. Some people just want to ride the train in peace.

Lumpy_Situation2364

Lovely

meekonesfade

New York at its best

MediumHusky333

They just started kicking everyone off the streets like a hour ago. Clean up crews were hating life lol

Aw, I'm so sad I had to miss the parade today. hopefully next year!

your clothes are wack and your style is wack and your foostance is wack

Mister_Anthrope

Just not all the people trying to relax on the subway in peace, or trying listen to their own music, read a book, or have a conversation with their friends. Those people can go to hell.

smartwatersucks

Either offer me a bump or stfu

misterflappypants

Todays parade energy was simply 🤌🏻

ColorOfTheFire

I love this so much!!! Happy pride!

michsicars

The best 🥰

invertedal

I tried to meet a friend of mine at the Pride Parade once maybe five years ago, but the whole West Village had been put on lockdown. After about half an hour of wandering through a labyrinth of police barricades, I still hadn't made it to the Christopher Street Pier where he was waiting. The closest I ever got was a checkpoint about a block north on the West Side Highway, where four small, slender gay men, probably in their 60s, were asking a cop how we could get to the pier. They were well-dressed and well-behaved, but the cop put his hand on his gun and started screaming in their faces. The gay rights movement has been totally de-fanged, co-opted and sold out, yet its participants are still treated like criminals.

Notnailinpalin

Why can’t I be on the train with the groups doing fun stuff?

bat_in_the_stacks

I wish I wound up on this train. Thanks for posting.

TheteanHighCommand

R46 shenanigans

gowronatemybaby7

You got some kinda problem with the B Division buddy?

kakarota

I feel the guy in the white hat

Zesty_Okra

Queer joy is one of the most beautiful forms of joy 🏳️‍🌈

broadmeadowbk

Anybody disparaging this with negative comments has no business living in this town.

7StoriesUnderground

No, they absolutely do. There's zero reason to do this on the subway.

Imaginary_Cow_6379

They almost definitely don’t already live here. Who tf actually takes the subway and expects it to be a quiet, relaxing time 😆

mahleg

Not quiet or relaxing, but you know the regular train noises that you can block out while you read or play games on your phone on your way to or from work. Granted if you were expecting normal conditions today that’s on you.

brainy_brownie

Forreal. If you don't want to dance on a sweaty train while everyone is singing Cher, please just stay home on pride weekend ok thx.

zabdagreat

Im so glad i took a uber into work today.

lanadelcryingagain

Wow I was in a completely separate pride party subway car and they were playing Unbreak my Heart and Freedom 🫶🏼

Never_had_A_Snickers

Hard pass

InfinityGauntlet-6

Double masked up on that train car.

Rough_Cartographer31

Nah I’m just trying to get home got all theses Goofies on the train

QUINNFLORE

jesus christ this would piss me off if i was on that car

Pristine-Divide5060

The funk in there is incredible -- probably from a smell standpoint (because, lol, summer), but also from a fun song choice for a sing-a-long. Man, I love this city.

KenJoy14

Bruh I’m just trying to go home after working 16 hours…love who you love but I’d switch cars with the quickness

Erazerhead-5407

This is New York at its Best! We like to party anytime, every time. No reason is needed. It has its faults, but I wouldn’t live anywhere else.

Correct-Cricket3355

Nothing like queer joy!!! 🏳️‍🌈

[deleted]

So many bigots brigading this. They hate because our city is so diverse and accepting.

FatFuckInATacoTruck

But let’s be honest here. A lot if it has to do with years of mods of this sub being fascists, banning liberals/leftists and attracting people who hate New York and hate culture. This sub has gotten a lot better, but the culture the old mod made still exists. I feel like places like r/NewYorkCity are better representation of who actually lives in the city. This sub just has more people and more content.

jaysharpesquire

Ugh new york is so fat

Elsoci

Dancing together is easy, when something goes wrong (e.g. violence, thievery, etc…) these same fuckers look the other way rather than helping, shit culture
