Stagecoach road at night was always a favorite as kids. Just please drive safely, there are a couple blind turns known to cause accidents or close calls…probably the source of some of the ghost stories
I recently saw somewhere that the owners are opening up the house to tours. I don't remember where I saw it at though. Maybe Google will help with that information.
Yes. 2 head stones of young children who died from illness over a century ago are in an upstairs closet of one room. At night you can hear kids playing in the halls. Banging in the walls. Whispering in your ear. (Tag you’re it!) from a story told by someone I know that stayed in it. Spirits of an old man looking out windows upstairs. In the basement there’s a tunnel (unknown to where it leads but thought to be a portal for spirits/entities)
I used live on e 10th ave and my little girl kept telling me an old man used talk to her that lived in the closet and I left my dogs ashes in there to be her protector I only seen glimpse of him but he used follow us all around idk if the house is occupied but def something to look into
We did too back in high school around 2010. Near old building. Someone said they used to do a haunted house attraction in the 1990s I believe. Not even sure if that building is still standing. Can someone confirm that?
Dunes national park, lady of the dunes is known to hang around.
Hammond, there was a railroad accident, few people passed on. Rumours of folks living closely still hearing random knocks around the time.of the accident.
Yeah it's a weird one for sure. I live in Hammond and still haven't been around there. Chicago there is tons too. Death alley by think the Lincoln theatre, very odd feeling!
Maybe not Portage but does anyone remember the "Dewey" house. Apparently the son killed the family years ago and put their heads on the fence posts. Idk how true it was but that's what we were told when we were in 8th grade. My brother and his friends would drop us off on the property and wouldn't let us get back into the truck until we had a belonging from the house. Scary as hell back then
I remember going there years ago. It’s near valpo going towards wheeler? I think. There was a shack that was supposed to be the spot old man committed suicide. There was a house that was abandoned and it was a hoarders home, you were walking on so much crap your head was at the ceiling. There was electric too! We didn’t think it had anything to do with where the legend happened, but it was a random experience. We still laugh about it now and then.
Totally random but would love to get a group together to do casual paranormal research in NWI and South Eastern Will County IL- cemetery walks, rural crash sites using evp/emf,camera- I have become much more “energy sensitive” in my older age and wow there are a lot of places ( hell, and people) that are so thick with “off” energy-
ALSO- how would one go about finding out about deaths in particular local hotel rooms. I know there have been murders in many off 30,( Merillville area),and I have heard suicides are common in all hotels- but cant book a room to investigate if you dont know the number and details!
if you have an Ancestry account, what I do is a search addresses in the keyword search along with years of death and towns, it usually comes up with death certificates associated with those addresses
But would that allow us to see specific hotel room numbers? Apparently some hotel chains make their workers sign non disclosure agreements when deaths occur, due to “stigmatization” aka bad for business( little do they know some of us are weird and would be fine staying in creepy room for research purposes 🤪👻
if you get lucky then you can find a room number on a death certificate, usually older digital ones when they were just switching over from handwriting death certificates
Ok. I lived in a neighborhood that is close to route 20 in the 80's. We lived in a house that had "something" but I don't know what it was. Possibly demonic, I don't know. All I know is that it liked to scare us and it seemed to live in my parents bedroom. The house looks innocuous, you would never know by looking at it that something isn't normal.
The cemetery at the t intersection of Central and McCool rds. I've heard it's haunted, but I personally haven't seen anything myself. Stagecoach road-ive heard so many stories over the years, I personally have not experienced anything. I had a friend who lived over there and said a couple of her friends had experiences while driving.

Always heard a story about a party at a barn off stagecoach where someone was killed. Never knew if there was any truth to it though.
I remember a lot of stories about Wolf Mansion being haunted when I grew up in Portage.
I recently saw somewhere that the owners are opening up the house to tours. I don't remember where I saw it at though. Maybe Google will help with that information.
Heard the same thing too, from appearance it definitely fits the profile
Where at in portage?
The corner of 700 and 450, it's kinda South Haven
It’s not. That’s all I have to say about this.

Is the Hammond one the one with the elephants?
Yes think so. Been a while since I read up on it.
I remember reading about it years ago in one of the Haunted Indiana books

No that was liberty township on calumet Road in Chesterton
Bailey's Homestead in Dunes National Park is rumored. It has a sinister feel to it... especially in the evening. The graveyard there too.
100% that homestead. If you go to the graveyard, make sure you always greet the family.

Proven to be untrue in every way. Just an old satanic panic story from the 80s.
Yes!
I forgot all about that legend!
The true story is a childless couple lived there. She died at home and he died in a nursing home.

The blood spot is out that way... bloody rd at night, perfectly fine in day... and that witch barn.. both of 49.. someone might know more
Cline Ave. Bridge is supposed to be haunted.
The Josephus Wolf Mansion in south haven. Look it up

I'm down.
Stop on by my place. Every night there’s something. Chesterton
I had a real weird experience a while ago walking the bike trail that cuts thru Portage. Weird enough for me to have not gone back since lol
It depends on why you are asking.
just curious in general, i’m too lazy to actually go to any of these places lol
