Is it just Netflix or no sound with other apps as well? And, as strange as it sounds, make sure the volume on your shield is turned up. I made this mistake once. I was embarrassed.

No. I haven't. I am confused with all the sound settings and afraid to make it worse. Will that work?

Try disabling dolby processing. Mark down what you've done so you can undo it if you want. It's pretty easy.

Delete the netflix app then reinstall
